He's been a SD! guy (who is now going after the ECW title...from a RAW guy!), which I think was sorta-kinda implied since he made his return by attacking Rey Rey.

Granted, he may be embellishing about his thoughts on quitting and all that, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Vince and crew thought it would be a big larf to drop this on JR and Cole right in the middle of the show.

So I'm totally willing to believe that Ross didn't know going in. Besides, all the other commentary guys looked really surprised when it happened, and mostly they're not such great actors. I love it when the real people behind the fake wrestling get really angry.
I like how he said he's not doing post production.

JR seemed legitimately upset on camera. He should have just quit on the air. And also introduced Fake Diesel and Fake Razor Ramon.

They spent the past six years centering the Smackdown roster around Rey (and Eddie) to build and maintain a very strong Latino viewership demo. Does WWE feel that that demo won't follow the show to MyNetwork? Have the core SD viewership demo(s) changed?

He gets to work with his friend Foley, so that should ease the pain. The change was long over due anyways. J.R. and The King are way to predictable and Lawler always sounds like a little better when he isn't with J.R.
Sometimes people in real jobs get moved around, J.R. just needs to suck it up on this one and go with the flow. Maybe the WWE has fucked with him a lot in the past, but if he up and quit on this one I think he would be the one looking bad.
It's possible this switch turns out to be a disaster, but at least they tried to shake up the shows. The announcer really getting hosed in the deal is Taz. Foley should be sharpening his skills on ECW, Taz should probably be on Raw now with Cole and J.R. should be with his BFF Lawler on Smackdown ... but what do I know. | Super Shane Spear

At the :13 mark, Ross says "I'm standing up", which leads me to believe that someone may have been ordering him to do so through the headset.
...or maybe Jim Ross always warns others before he stands up. ALWAYS.
Note: Did Ross mean that he wanted an ISDN line in his home? Is there such thing as a DSL line for broadcasting?

Otherwise we wouldn't have Mick Foley dropping "Gee wilikers, it sure would be great to work with Jim Ross!!" into every match since the draft was announced.

That's my point, Vince was simply performing in a manner which the fans would expect him to act if the situation were "real", even if that perception doesn't match how the reality actually is (i.e. since the "smarts" know that Paul is Triple H's real name, Vine calls him "Paul" to try and fool them into thinking the whole thing isn't staged) ...

It could be he used the name Paul so that a "Pall" is cast over the arena next week, leading to a night of Paul's: Paul Orndorff, Paul Ellering, Paul Jones, Paul Bearer, Paul Diamond, Paul Roma, John Paul, Ron Paul speaking to the crowd, and musical entertainment by the greatest Paul of all, Mr. Paul Anka. Now, if they were to install the line that Ross requests at his home, wouldn't that be considered 'phoning it in', which he says he'd never do?

I can understand what you are saying with people like HBK and Foley. But HHH is married to his daughter so calling him Hunter all the time (or King of Kings) would be kind of weird.
