-Zoinks! I must still be in vacation mode, because I missed the first 52 minutes of the show. The QnD version of what happened thus far:

-(1) HHH beat Mark Henry, gaining a draft pick for Raw (same rules as last draft). The Raw Draft Pick: Rey Mysterio. Interesting.

-Vince and Kelly Kelly gave away the first $100,000.

-A Hunter/Cena/Rey backstage confrontation.

-(2) Finlay & Hornswoggle beat Carlito & Santino (Carlito was pinned by Hornswoggle, as if hes not unhappy enough). Smackdowns draft pick: Jeff Hardy.

-Vince and Randy Orton (well, until Randy walked off) gave away another $100,00.

-(3) Holly & Rhodes beat Chavo & Neely. Raws Draft Pick: C.M Punk. Good luck, C.M. Something tells me youll need it.

[Break]

-I picked things up with Chris Jericho making his way to the ring. He was in full heel mode on the mic. He showed classic footage of HBK turning on Jannetty (and others) to prove his point. Jericho talked about Lance Cade helping him out last week, then Cade was on the video wall. Jericho brought up HBK training Cade during Michaels hiatus. Cade said he wasnt going to give Michaels the chance to turn his back on him. What chants from the crowd during Cades monologue, but it wasnt bad.

Jericho brought up Night of Champions, and said he still doesnt have an opponent. He said hed like to face HBK but cant, and then showed footage of HBK getting smashed into the Jeritron 3000. Jericho said the worst was yet to come, but Shawns music hit and he came out, a bit bandaged up. Michaels hit the ring with authority and the two brawled in the ring. To the outside, Jericho sent HBK face-first into the Smackdown announce table. Medics and refs came out to check on Shawn as he was clearly in pain. Jericho cracked a wry smile as he looked on.

[Break]

-They showed replays of Michaels being re-injured in the last segment. JR sent things to Michael Cole (all three announce teams were at ringside), who will be doing commentary with ECWs Tazz for the next match. They ran down the first three draft picks.

(4) John Morrison & The Miz vs. Matt & Jeff Hardy
This is the third tag match out of four tonight. Interesting. Vickie came out and said it was originally going to be Hawkins & Ryder, but she had different opponents for the champs. Headlocks & hammerlocks were traded by Matt and Miz. Poetry in Motion hit by Jeff (with an assist from Matt). The heels did some double-teaming to put Jeff on the mat. Miz & Morrison traded off working over Jeff. Eventually, both Miz and Jeff were down, and Jeff made the hot tag. Matt took out both champions. Miz broke up a pinfall attempt on Morrison. Matt went to the top, but was stopped by Morrison while Jeff and Miz fought on the outside. Legdrop by Matt from the top, but Miz distracted the ref. That allowed Morrison to roll-up Matt, with the tights, for the win.

Winners: Morrison and Miz, at 8:14.

-The random draft generator picked: Matt Hardy. Ha, nice. Matt is the U.S. Champ, so that belt goes to ECW. Coincidence that Tazz explained the rule about the belts earlier in the match?

[Break]

-The main event tonight will be Cena vs. Edge. Also, a 15-man tri-branded battle royal.

-Vince was out and he talked about the money he has given out in past weeks. He brought out Ric Flair to give away $100,000. No explanation on why he was let in this week. Vince gave away the money and Ric gave a WOOO! No other comments from Naitch.

-Diva tag team action is next....Mickie and Melina were walking backstage, as their match is after break.

[Break]

-A plug of Mickie James doing charity work.

(5) Melina & Mickie James vs. Victoria & Natalya
This is an announcers only (ring, broadcast and backstage) draft match. Natalya used her power to take Melina down, including a powerslam. Thesz press by Victoria for two. Melina was pushed off the top rope and to the outside by Victoria. All the announcers were sharing mic time for this match. Melina was grabbing her ankle and Mickie went to check on her. Victoria went outside but the ref blocked her path. Victoria eventually went to the outside and Mickie attacked her, then she was attacked by Natalya. The ref called for the bell.

Winner: Double DQ, at 2:58.

-Both Raw and Smackdown get a draft pick as a result. Jim Ross to Smackdown folks. He does not look happy. He took off his headset and moved over to the Smackdown broadcast table. Not so coincidentally, Michael Cole to Raw. Cole noted that he has called every Smackdown show but two in ten years. The camera caught JR looking down and shaking his head. He then looked at the camera, put his hands up and shrugged his shoulders. Yikes.

[Break]

-They showed Melina injuring her ankle at ringside and being carried away from ringside. Mick said he was honored, but JR was an institution on Raw.

-Up to the stage and Vince. Vince said he has the biggest superstar lined up next to give away money...Great Khali. Everyone booed. Isnt he turning face on Smackdown? Oh God, he has a mic. Vince plugged Khalis role in Get Smart. Vince asked Khali to talk about the movie. He did, in another language. Vince also plugged The Rock in the movie, as well as his DVD that is out now. The first number dialed, and took a while. The person who answered said it was a wrong number. Khali then shouted at the man (who had already hung up). The next number was dialed and the phone was answered, then handed to another guy. The correct password was given, and Khali did some more yelling. The Great Khali is talking to the phone Vince said, hilarious in his delivery. Before Vince could finish, Edge came out for the next match. The show then went to break.

[Break]

(6) Edge vs. John Cena
Edge pushed Cena away on a face-buster attempt, then capitalized with a kick to the head. He continued beating on Cena til Cena came back with a face-buster. Cena played to a mix of cheers and boos, as usual. Fist-drop landed on Edges forehead. Edge countered two FUs and hit what JR called an Impaler DDT. Cena dodged a spear and locked in the STFU. Edge made it to the ropes though. Edge went to the top, but Cena shot up to meet him and tried to get him in position for an FU. However, Cena fell to the outside. On the outside, Cena caught Edge and brought him up for an FU. He then walked Edge up the steps in that position, but Edge got out. Cena went into the ring and Edge was counted out.

Winner: Cena, at 7:35. I wonder if Vickie will be unhappy with her beau for costing the show a draft pick?

-Batista attacked Edge after the match, and Raws draft pick was revealed to be Batista. He traded looks with Cena in the ring.

[Break]

-Edge was talking to Vickie backstage, and Edge was quite relieved to be rid of Batista. Vince walked in to remind Edge that all the championship matches this Sunday will be intact, despite the draft results. Vince wondered about Edge getting drafted to Raw, and Vickie got worried.

(7) MVP vs. Tommy Dreamer
Mick said hes been in some tough matches in his career, but his toughest challenge may be doing commentary with Mike Adamle tonight. Adamle took it in stride. MVP went to the bread-basket on Dreamer and took control. Suplex by MVP for a one-count. Colin Delaney was at ringside with Dreamer. Bulldog out of the corner by Dreamer as Tazz interjected to call something in the match as Foley and Adamle talked about anything but (which Tazz noted). Boot by MVP and that ended it.

Winner: MVP, at 2:44.

-The draft pick to Smackdown was Umaga. Adamle called him The Samoan Bulldog and was quickly corrected by Tazz. That was about the third mix-up by Adamle tonight, and he hasnt talked much. Umaga hit the ring and did a Samoan drop on Dreamer. He then splashed Delaney in the corner. He continued the abuse on the two ECW Superstars.

[Break]

-The announcers went down the list of who has been drafted thus far tonight.

(8) JBL vs. Kofi Kingston
JBL cornered Kofi and hit some forearms to the back and then did the same in the center of the ring. Kofi used his speed to get the better of JBL. High legdrop by the Jamaican Sensation. JBL came back with a boot. Million Dollar Dream by JBL. Fall-away slam by JBL. Kofi was almost powerbombed, but landed on his feet and hit a high dropkick on JBL. JBL side-stepped Kofi coming off the top, then hit the Lariat from Hell for the pin.

Winner: JBL, at 5:05. Tazz compared Raw to a stacked Little League team.

-Raw got Kane, the ECW Champion.

-The Battle Royal is still to come, where the winners brand gets two picks. Mr. McMahons final give-away for the night is next.

[Break]

-Back to Vince giving away money. No guest this time. The winner this time was AT the show. They showed her in the crowd, and she won $100,000. After the battle royal, Vince said hed give away $500,000.

-The announcers went over the Night of Champions card.

(9) 15-Man Tri-Brand Battle Royal
Its a star-studded one. For Raw: Cena, Kane, Batista, Punk and Triple H. From ECW: Matt Hardy, The Miz, John Morrison, Shelton Benjamin, Chavo Guerrero. Smackdown: Edge, Big Show, Great Khali, Jeff Hardy and MVP.

[Break]

The match was joined in progress after break. It appeared that no one had been eliminated yet. Khali was ganged up on and thrown out, and the rest began to look to eliminate Show. That didnt happen though. JR noted that the match will continue until two teams are completely eliminated. Miz almost eliminated Edge, who was hanging on by his ankles. Spinebuster on Miz by Kane, then Miz and Morrison were simultaneously tossed by Batista. Chavo got sent to the mat by Kane via an electric chair. Punk barely held on from being eliminated by Show and MVP. Edge hit a couple spears, including one on Triple H. He stood tall as they took another break.

[Break]
Punk was eliminated during the break by Big Show. For those keeping score at home, there are four Raw, four Smackdown and two ECW superstars left. Jeff enziguirid Chavo over the top and out. MVP missed a running kick on Jeff and was subsequently eliminated by Matt. The Hardys then stood toe-to-toe and went at it. Jeff got Matt to the apron then kicked him out of the match from there. ECW was completely eliminated and finished the night with just one added draft pick. Edge and Batista both wanted to spear each other and ended up hitting heads with each other. Batistas head was busted open from it. Cena brought Show to the mat with a sleeper. Hardy missed a Whisper in the Wind on Triple H and then was tossed by The Game. Spear by Batista on Edge. Show got him from behind and put him on the apron. Batista tried to choke Show out, but it didnt work, and Big Dave hit the floor. Kane tried to chokeslam Show to no avail, and Show then threw out Kane.

Down to two vs. two. Show and Edge vs. Cena and Trips. The Raw guys tried to suplex Show, but instead, Show suplexed them. Show got Triple H up in a press slam, but Cena interrupted that. They tried to toss Show, and did. From behind, Edge threw out Triple H, then Cena.

Winner: Edge and Smackdown, 18:15 shown.

-Smackdowns two draft picks: one was Mr. Kennedy. I dont know why then sent him to Raw in the first place. The second: Triple H. Yeah, right. So, he and JR will get traded back to Raw for Cole and....?

-Vince gave away the big finale of $500,000. To a suck-up. As he gave away the final one, things started to explode on stage. Vince was then sent off the stage by an explosion and part of the set collapsed on him. Things continued to blow in the background as wrestlers, refs, stage-hands and medics tried to help get part of the stage off Vince. Triple H was heard to ask if he was conscious....they said yes, but hes not breathing. His eyes were open as they put him in a neck-brace and onto a stretcher. If they put him in the ambulance and it explodes, I quit. Vince was begging for Paul, or Triple H, as he was being wheeled out. The show then went off the air.

Man, I flipped away during the last money segment (those things are just death), and I flipped back just in time to see Vince in a neckbrace. Weird stuff. As for the show itself, only a couple real surprises. Smackdown got fucked, as we knew it would. I don't get moving Matt Hardy to ECW. Why on earth would you move someone to ECW? I'm also not happy about switching Ross and Cole. I don't think either one is a good fit for their new shows, although I will admit that I though Ross and Foley were a pretty good team. It was also nice to hear Taz and Cole together again. And the last time they drafted HHH to Smackdown, he didn't even show up on a single episode before getting traded back to RAW. Let's see if it goes any better this time around.

As if everyone switching rosters wasn't enough (and they have to really rebalance the rosters during the week), we now need to go through "who killed Vince (again)?"

If past examples are used, about 37 other wrestlers will be sent in the exchange.
At least it seemed Kennedy remembered Edge costing his the MITB briefcase last year.
Is it an even/odd number thing where some years the belts move, and other years the belts are vacated?
Matt Hardy really can't do much worse than the last person who had held the US Title that was drafted by ECW.

So is Adamle that bad on purpose? ... First he says that ECW had no draft picks, only to be corrected by Tazz that they had gotten Matt Hardy. Then he said that Colin Delaney had made his way to ringside, but he accompanied Dreamer in his entrance. And then the whole "Samoan Bulldog" thing ... what gives?

I gotta disagree on Smackdown getting the shaft. They get Jeff Hardy, Umaga, Kennedy & Triple H, as well as JR ... pretty solid, by my standards. Now we'll see if it sticks.

Now ECW on the other hand ... whoa ...

So does this mean that Batista wins or Triple H loses on Sunday?

The whole Vince thing was done to get out of giving away a million bucks each week.

Nobody killed Vince, Vince killed Vince. My guess is he was cutting costs to give away money.

Kane back on Raw, Kennedy back on Smackdown? Really?

Big Show came out looking good in the Battle Royal, but I fear for Edge's future.

Edit: I was also hoping for a Tazz/Cole reunion somehow

WEll, talk about one of those shows that as good, until the very end.

HHH going to Smackdown means he's keeping the title and means Edge is dropping his, unless they want to go ahead and start building the "title count" and let HHH beat Edge down the road a bit.

Kane to Raw? Nothing for him to do .

Punk To Raw? Who's he going to fight?

Lots of bad drafts on RAWs behalf, IMO. Seems to me they are going to let RAW coast for a bit and try to pump up SMACKDOWN. Meanwhile ECW keeps getting worse.

Do they get to bring the 'exciting' FBI agent out of suspended animation exactly 52 weeks later next week?
I say though that the culprits are the ghosts of World Class Championship Wrestling who were told by Gary Hart when he arrived on the other side that Vince did a DVD about them.

Good to see God was off the injured list (torn ACL) and drafted to Raw. Now he can re-team with Shawn Michaels and go for the tag titles.

He mocks God...HE MOCKS GOD!!!

Bonus second suspect: Paul London

Bonus third suspect: Hornswoggle

Oh, also: They need to have six-man commentary as much as possible. Tazz with his doom and gloom, Adamle with his ways, JR with a random comment and sad hangdog look, Foley cracking jokes and asking for any one of them to love him ("I'M HILARIOUS, RIGHT?"), King making increasingly quiet hilarious Hennan-esque jokes about Vince, and Michael Cole calling matches. This was a sextet made for each other.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

Anyone noticed how Jericho's graphics changed from saying "SAVE_US" to "SAVE_ME"? I got a good chuckle out of that.

And I don't care how dumb it is that they're trying the "someone (wants to) kill(ed) Vince" angle again, I won't complain a lick about it as long as Trips to SD sticks. Trips to SD sticks means the belt returns where it belongs on Sunday and I finally get to watch RAW without worrying each week about Trips going on an ego trip again.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Wrestling wise it was pretty damn good except for one really bad match.
I am willing to give moving Ross and Cole arounda chance. I admit I am dubious but who knows. Speaking of announcers I watch ECW so I know how much Adamle sucks but was he worse than usual or is my hate of him just growing?
Draft wise Raw is stacked even if HHH actually goes to SD. They added three more or less main eventers and CM Punk. SD did ok but I am also baffled about moving the US Champ to ECW. ECW lost a lot not that it really makes that much of a difference.
Good hard sell for Night of Champions. I have a feeling Batista will win and HHH will retain. That would switch the titles. Not sure about the ECW or US title.
Now the last 3 minutes were just stupid. Seriously WTF?

So, speaking in a kayfabe kind of way, why would a champion like Edge *want* to win his match and get another wrestler to Smackdown? Wouldn't a cowardly heel like him not want to risk a top-notch superstar joining his brand? Wouldn't he prefer the chance that one of his current challengers leave Smackdown? I've never understood that in the "win a match, get a draft pick" set up. Why would these guys WANT more competitors?

Speaking of cowardly heel Edge, I'm thinking maybe he goes to Vickie and complains about Triple H being on his brand, and, in not so many words, admits he doesn't want to face Trips and has Vickie trade him back to Raw?
