TONIGHT: Sounds like a big show: Mr. McMahon will make his return and address William Regal and the GMs actions from last week. Also: Roddy Piper is the special guest on Carlitos Cabana (hide the coconuts!). And: CM Punk takes on Randy Orton in a one-on-one match. Also, just added is Mickie James defending her Womens Title against Beth Phoenix in a Divas Lumberjack match.

-WWE Open.

-Highlights from Regals coronation and the final moments from the main event from last week aired.

-Live in the arena, Mr. McMahon was already at the top of the stage, no music. Vince said many fans demanded that Mr. McMahon respond to Regals actions last week. He called Regals actions reprehensible. He also found them to be innovative, daring and visionary. He said, in that gravelly Vince voice, that Regal reminds him of...himself. He came out to 100% endorse Regal as King and GM. Phew. He asked that the fans show the same respect for Regal that they do for him.

Lillian Garcia then introduced William Regal. Oh, and were LIVE from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Regal said fans wont like him, but theyll respect him. It sounds like he doesnt have it yet. Regal sucks chants from the Canucks. He then demanded the lights be turned off in the arena....and they were. After about a minute, he ordered them turned back on. He said hes willing to have the entire show in darkness and wont tolerate being disrespected. Kennedys music hit and he once again interrupted the King. Kennedy said if Regal wants respect, hell take him up on his offer to fight in the ring. Regal called himself Kennedys superior and KK told Regal to prove it. Regal said Kennedy is in the main event tonight against ECW Champion Kane.....and Tag Champs Morrison & Miz.....and C.M. Punk......and Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely. In fact, hell be facing the entire ECW roster. Let the jokes begin. Regal mentioned an arrangement with Armando Estrada where Regal will plug tomorrow nights 100th episode of ECW. Regal reiterated that he wouldnt be dis-respected, but The Games music hit and Triple H walked out. I hope he references his theme song, where he makes the rules.

HHH told Regal he means him no dis-respect, but to congratulate him on his new position of power. He then offered Regal some advice: dont make mistakes such as last week. Trips said Regal ended the match soon after the blackout last week. HHH said Regal doesnt want to go to war with him. Regal said Triple H wont be in much condition to defend the title against Randy Orton at Judgment Day, since Triple H is in tonights main event as Kennedys tag partner. I think everyone in the back learned a lesson: dont interrupt Regal. Also, didnt a match like this just happen, only with Orton and Cena against the Raw roster? Also, should Kennedy be taking a back seat to Triple H in this segment so early in his face push? Segment clocked in at 17 minutes for those scoring at home.

-The Divas Lumberjack Match for the Title is next!

[Break]

-The Lumberjack divas surrounded the ring; ten of them to be exact (including Ashley).

(1) Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James- WWE Womens Championship Match
No special ring intros. Beth showed off her power to start. Mickie was sent to the outside and jumped by the heel divas. After Mickie got some offense in back in the ring, she decided to take matters into her own hands and jump on some of the heel divas on the outside. Beth got a two-count just before break.

[Break]

Beth was working the shoulder/back area of Mickie when the show returned. Mickie tried a roll-up, but Beth just picked her up and tossed her across the ring. Mickie tried a slow comeback, but Beth threw her out of the ring. The heels prevented her from going to the top rope but she kicked them off. She ended up hitting a Thesz press off the top and got a two-count. Beth grabbed her by the throat, but Mickie came back with some kicks. An enziguiri sent Beth to the outside, where she was attacked. She pulled Maria in the ring by her hair. With the ref distracted, Melina tried to hit Mickie with the belt. That did not succeed, so Mickie was able to small package Beth for the win.

Winner: Mickie, at 9:07. Longest womens match on Raw since I can remember. It was pretty good at times, but since matches dont usually go this long, they looked a bit winded by the end. I dont even mind Beth losing again that much, as long as theyve got something planned out.

-Backstage, Chris Jericho walked into Regals office. After a question by Regal, Jericho once again said Michaels was faking the injury. Regal put Jericho in a tag match with HBK tonight against Morrison and Miz. If Michaels is 100%, then youve got nothing to worry about. Nice.

[Break]

-Murdoch was signing to the makeup lady backstage when he turned around to see....Trish Stratus! Before she could gather the words to explain what she was seeing, Ron Simmons walked up and said (you guessed it), Damn!

-Jim Ross talked about Simmons getting inducted into the College Football Hall-of-Fame. We even got highlights of Simmons playing.

-JR plugged Kennedy & Triple H against 14 men....aka the entire ECW roster.

-Backstage, Todd Grisham welcomed his guest, Randy Orton. Orton said he may not agree with what Regal did, but he respects him. Orton said tonight, CM Punk will find out what its like if he decides to cash in his MITB opportunity against him once he wins the belt back at Judgment Day.

-Coming up tonight, special guest Roddy Piper in Carlitos Cabana.

[Break]

(2) Paul Burchill & Katie Lea vs. John Cutler- Handicap Match
Cutler is a hometown boy. Before the match, Regal came out and said JRs mic was going to be cut and brought out a man like himself who had been dis-respected: Mike Adamle. Lots of boos for him. JR was not happy and I wouldnt be surprised if this wasnt planned in advance. Cutler tried a sunset-flip but Katie helped Paul out and put the boots to Cutler. Katie began directing traffic as Paul choked Cutler in the ropes. The crowd began chanting for JR as Adamle used some bizarre logic to explain why this wasnt, in fact, a handicap match. Lets go Cutler chant from the fans. Katie came off the top with a double-stomp onto Cutler chest as Burchill held him up. Curb stomp was next to finish things. Katie got the pin.

Winners: Burchill and Lea, at 3:31.

-Adamle bid adieu, then King said he wouldnt complain about Adamles announcing because it would last too long. No reference to Adamles walk-off last week.

-HBK was getting ready in the back when Y2J came up to him to give him a speech. Michaels said hes hurt, but Jericho has his word that hell try his best.

[Break]

(3) John Morrison & The Miz vs. Chris Jericho & Shawn Michaels
Jericho beat around Miz until he made the tag to Morrison. Jericho tried to lock in the Walls on Morrison, but Miz distracted him with a missed clothesline, to which Jericho hit him with a springboard dropkick. Morrison came back with a springboard kick of his own. The heels took over from there on offense. Jericho face-planted Morrison, then locked the Walls in on Miz. Morrison came back and took out Jericho and HBK. HBK came back with an HBK, followed by a Jericho Lionsault for three.

Winners: Jericho & HBK, at 4:13. Right after the match, HBK left the ring and limped up the ramp.

-Tonight, Mr. Kennedy and Triple H face the entire ECW roster.

-Up next, Randy Orton goes up against C.M. Punk.

[Break]

(4) Randy Orton vs. CM Punk
Orton knocked Punk down twice and stood over him....the second time, Punk, still flat on his back, kicked Orton in the head. Orton was clotheslined over the top rope. Orton then pulled Punks leg off the apron, causing him to fall hard to the mats on the outside of the ring. Garvin Stomp by Orton, but Punk recovered quickly. Punk, though, missed a springboard cross-body for a near-fall. Knee to the head, then a bulldog out of the corner for two. William Regal came out and told the fans he was turning out the lights. He did. Then he declared the match over.

Winner: No contest, at about 3:58 (no bell). Ok, thats a little much. Youve already got the heat on Regal, why keep going to that well?

[Break]

-Todd Grisham caught up with Randy Orton, who was upset about the decision Regal made to turn out the lights this week.

-Carlitos Cabana! Carlito replayed the Santino/Piper segment from last week, and said what happened wasnt cool. Carlito, unenthusiastically, called out his guest. Carlito told Piper he knows how annoying Santino can be, but Piper took it too far. Roddy called Carlito Buckwheat, and said hes made a career of taking things too far. He said he beat Mr. T, Hulk Hogan, and cancer. He kind of went off on a tangent and said he does things his way. Carlito called Santino a future tag-team champion and said he wouldve slapped Piper back. The Rowdy one and Carlito were about to get it on in the ring when Santino came down.

Marella told Carlito hed handle Piper himself. He said Pipers way meant it took eight years to win the I.C. Title, which it took him just one day to earn. Piper told Marella that he needed to get a designated driver (and thats a shoot, brutha!). As Piper put the fists up for a fight, Cody Rhodes music hit. Cody told them to cool off, because thats not how you treat a legend. Cody introduced two guys dying to meet the Hot Rod. Then he brought out Cryme Tyme, and the three of them came to the ring to chase of Carlito and Santino. JTG and Piper had a seat and Shad said tonight wasnt about the money, but about the Rowdy, Rowdy, yeah, yeah. Piper then, uh, danced, I guess. That went about two times longer than I thought it would. On the bright side, lots of time given to the tag division.

-Mr. Kennedy & Triple H face off against the ECW Roster tonight.

[Break]

-JR and King talked about the Judgment Day card.

-JBL was on the mic backstage, near his limo. He said wed get a first-class look at his limo. The camera then went inside with JBL giving a tour. His music was playing in the background. JBL cut a promo on John Cena for their match at Judgment Day. He then got out of the car and was in the arena.

(5) JBL vs. DH Smith
JBL made fun of Canada, then talked about Smith, calling him the last of the Hart Foundation. He said Davey Boy, Bret, or God cant help him right now. JBL then went on offense very aggressively, with some boots to the head. Clothesline from Hell, but he didnt go for the pin, landing some elbows instead. Another lariat for the win.

Winner: JBL, at :58. JBL continued his beat-down of DH Smith, peppering him with fists in the corner.

[Break]

-The entire ECW roster was in Regals office talking over themselves and Regal told them to be quiet. He said they get to get a definitive win over Trips and Kennedy, as well as showing the Raw roster that they should never dis-respect Regal. He said he wont turn off the power, but he does expect a victory. Anything less will be a disappointment.

-Lawler and JR talked about Vickie Guerrero stripping Undertaker of the World Title. Then we got the Smackdown Rebound.

-The ECW roster came out. Kane got a separate entrance from the rest. The 14 men: John Morrison, The Miz, Shelton Benjamin, Chavo Guerrero, Mike Knox, Matt Striker, Nunzio, Tommy Dreamer, Kofi Kingston, Punk, Stevie Richards, Bam Neely, Elijah Burke and Kane.

[Break]

(6) The ECW Roster vs. Mr. Kennedy & Triple H- Handicap Match
Should Knox be standing right next to Richards on the apron? Didnt they just have an intense mini-feud? Burke started things off for ECW and did not do so well. He got a thumb to the eye on Triple H, then tagged Striker. High knee caught him, then HHH tagged in KK. Kennedy was able to fight off Knox until Striker put a knee in his back as Kennedy was coming off the ropes. I think this may be a chance to show the viewers the ECW roster, rather than to make the roster look weak. Blind tag to Shelton, and Kofi tried to hit a flying forearm on Kennedy, but Kennedy ducked and Kofi hit Shelton. No heat for this match. Not even a reaction to Trips hot tag. He fought off pretty much the entire roster as they all tried to come in, but finally Shelton put him down with a crescent kick. Mic Check to Striker, but he was chokeslammed by Kane. Neely then went after Kane and Chavo hit a frogsplash on Kennedy for the win.

Winners: ECW Roster, at 5:46.

The ECW roster went after Kennedy and Trips after the match. Knox went to ringside to get a chair, but Trips took it away from him and proceeded to hit just about every guy on the roster right in the head with the chair (including Punk). The lights then went out, and Orton hit Trips with the RKO. So many things wrong with that segment, I wouldnt know where to begin. Orton stood over Triple H as the show ended.

The post match of the main event was so weird. Mike Knox off all people punching Triple H on the mat, Dreamer and Punk randomly fighting with Morrison and Miz but then everyone is just as quickly back on the same side to beat up Triple H (why?).

I thought maybe CM Punk was being really smart and playing dead to avoid having to get beat up more by Triple H, but then he was really dumb and didn't get his hands up at all on the chair shot.

I think they are trying to turn Kennedy into a modern Steve Austin. That's not going to work for me.

Riding in the limo with JBL was weird because I felt like there wasn't much in between his crotch and me.

See Admale doesn't really suck it's just a gimmick! It's all good fun now.

I did like Carito's messed up loyalty to Santino even if the whole end of the skit blew.

Boy, was Regal ever asleep at the wheel during that abortion of a Cabana segment. Serious-tino sucks. Sucks. Oh, and has anybody ever needed the Rock/Orton/Cena-esque heel turn more than Cody right now? The only saving grace of that thing was JTG sadly failing to find a drink in those coconuts.

What else? What else?

- I thought I saw HHH sell for Miz there at the end. Weird.

- Not a good idea to have the words "Hart" and "Dead" within about five seconds of each other.

- I could barely recognize Maria behind all that makeup. Ugh.

- They should've gone all the way and brought out Coachman on colour, making them an obliviously horrible team.

So are they going to start lining up guys that need to be punished and have them get stiffed to all hell by JBL until his match with Cena? And where IS Cena? For one of Raw's top guys, he's been oddly absent since the PPV.

I am not amused by Regal cutting off another Orton match. Orton matches are already a waste on their own, but wussing out of a finish is just ridiculous.

Carlito's Cabana went better than expected, but you almost felt the segment come to a screeching halt the moment they decided to give Cody Rhodes a mic. Man, was he awful. But I agree with the sentiment that at least it's spotlighting the tag division.

They have to stop getting lazy and booking (wrestler) vs. (roster) matches. This is like the third time this year that they've done it and all it does is make the entire roster look weak.

It's been a long time (and a different show) since I felt such a palpable sense of... "So you sat through that, huh? Well, let's see you sit through THIS!"

I'm not sure why Lawler kept calling Adamle "John" - maybe it's a commentator disease thing. Also, might have been nice for Lawler to bring up the fact that he walked out of the ECW show...but then, he obviously doesn't watch the show. (But JR does, by golly - they said so - several times!)

At least we now know that Santino's scandal is bigger than Ashley's.

It's not going to work for anyone if they keep dressing him up as a bouncer at a gay club. It's one of those rare looks that looks more ridiculous as times goes on.

Mike Adamle is awesome. His whole schtick with Lawler where he was arguing it was more of a handicap match before because Katie Lea was OUTSIDE the ring, and Lawler's incredulous response, was comedy gold. A close second for Comedy Gold of the Night was Santino turning to a confused Carlito after Piper's designated driver comment and saying "...I'll-a tell you about it later."

I hope they don't overdo it with Regal's turning out of the lights, because as much as I like the direction they're taking the character in, it got stale after the second occurrence of the evening. It'd be better, in my opinion, if whenever the crowd got rowdy you saw Regal flipping a light-switch on and off repeatedly while telling everybody to "quiet down, please!"

Like Cubs, I too was confused by the ECW faces beating on the ECW heels then inexplicably turning on HHH. Especially perennial ECW superface Tommy Dreamer. But I don't know if I was bothered by that or stuff like the idea that Kane and Chavo/Neely were embroiled in this blood feud just a few days ago but tonight were willing to spend apron space for the greater good of looking ridiculous in not being able to put away HHH and Kennedy.

Also ALSO they said the ENTIRE ECW roster but Colin Delaney wasn't there, so I'm calling Shenanigans.

All complaints aside, at least this show on the whole is fun again.

I dunno, I really enjoyed the theme of the show. I also really enjoyed (and fell for) the RKO payoff. The sneak attack RKO is a cookie-cutter heat generator. The twist tonight was cool because a) it was slightly less predictable and b) Regal dicking around with HHH is awesome.

Aside from the fact that the backseat of JBL's limo didn't have as much leg room as he claimed, that entire segment RULED. I'd have JBL come out like that every single time, provided he wears pants or a longer jacket.

What also ruled was Beth Phoenix posing at the top of the ramp as if she still had her belt. Has she been doing that since she lost it?

Teddy Long needs to start his coup on Smackdown. The heel GM bit is stale as it is, but now both major shows are being overrun by the authority figures, and it's just numbingly dull.

I could buy Dreamer getting in there since hey, he's Mr. ECW. The Regal pre-match promo could've used Dreamer stepping in afterwards to give a rah-rah "let's do this for ECW" speech to fire up the troops.

How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person Im portraying. Youre confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard, and I said You are aware that I am not really a wizard? and Peter Jackson said I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show. So I said Okay and then I said to myself Mmm.. How do I do that? And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

"I beat Mr. T". - No you didn't...You got disqualified after shoving the ref.

"I beat Hulk Hogan"...no you didn't...(did he?) I don't remember that. If it happened it was non-title, non televised....so it didn't happen.

"I beat Cancer"....yes you did! in all seriousness, Congrats to the Hot Rod.

Nice (short) shoot on Santino needing a designated driver

Cody Rhodes (he needs polka dots with hardcore) shows up. Cryme Tyme dying to meet The Hot Rod? Really?

Is that the best way to bring back the Cabana?

Edit - Oh yeah, Kennedy's music still sucks. I thought it would grow on me...but...nope. Music still sucks.

He beat him clean with the sleeper in WCW. Not that Piper will be referring to that. In his mind he's beaten everyone he ever faced and is the toughest guy to have ever lived.

I got a real kick out of a recent shoot interview (I'm thinking Scott Hall, though it could have been Scott Norton) where they told the story of the Nash/Piper backstage scuffle with Nash open hand slapping Piper and Piper backing off immediately and never doing a thing about it.

That was the weirdest show. The booking was all over the place. Also, I wonder how many people just tuned out five minutes into the show when Regal put the lights out. I seriously considered it, and even at that there were a couple segments I did flip the channel for. Honestly, if they expect us to even give Adamle's gimmick a shot, shouldn't they have him do commentary on a match we might actually care about? I get that they didn't want to waste the main event (of RAW) to put over an announcer, but s Burchill squash isn't enough motivation for me to listen to a guy I already know sucks so I can find out if he can suck in an entertaining way.

Beating Hogan is beating Hogan -- no matter the organization. I don't understand why he wouldn't or couldn't be referring to that. Unlike a lot of other wrestlers past their prime (within reason), beating Hogan still carries significance.

Secondly, the story about the Piper/Nash fight was told in Nash's shoot interview, corroborated in Hall's shoot but refuted by Piper, Flair, Meltzer and a few others. While I'm not defending Piper (nor understand why you think the guy's so full of himself) Nash, an admitted prick and liar, probably didn't manhandle Piper as much as he likes to claim to have done. Furthermore, 7-foot Nash punching a guy 15 years his senior with hip and knee replacements...ooooh, big accomplishment. 80s Piper would have certainly given Nash a little bit more for the trouble.

He might not have been the toughest guy ever in wrestling, but for a guy who has been stabbed repeatedly and who Flair said would play pranks on people who couldn't keep up with him at the bar, I'd say he's pretty tough.

I didn't mind Regal's blacking out Orton's match too much, since there was bound to be a DQ finish of some sort for Orton VS Punk. Hm, job the guy who is suppose to be a threat to HHH's title, or job the guy who in theory can challenge for any of the three titles whenever he wants.

My real issue with it is that if Regal keeps this up next week, then one has to worry about WWE booking a "black out the PPV" angle. I'd like to say it's a no brainer not to do it, but the company seems to be putting alot of air time into an annoucer storyline when they only have three weeks to set up Judgement Day. so who knows what they are thinking.

Agreed with everyone on Carlito's Cabana
