If only Booker T were still around to see his Knight become a king.

From what I had a chance to see, a decent Raw.

Read it and weap, fella

I guess I'm in the minority (again!), because I didnt think Hillary/Barack was all that bad. Parts of it were pretty funny. They're getting plenty of mainstream coverage out of it, and not for the usual nasty reasons either.

I've never seen a KotR all the way through before, so that was pretty cool. I'm not too keen on Regal winning it, but his reign should be fun.

Hornswaggle emoting and not hiding under the ring to help Finley cheat = kinda boring. Sorry. Also, they spent a lot of time building up the "Bastard Child of Vince McMahon" thing only to completely drop the ball when it came time to reveal the truth.

Chavo sure looked tiny next to everyone else in the ME. Did UT get his "SARA" tattoo removed, or did it fade away by itself?

BTW, I have absolutely no interest in the Backlash ME.

I'm thinking they're trying to do what they did when they had Booker T win it, which was jumpstart a midcard heel into someone they can do something with. Which is fine by me since William Regal is great.

The top half of that bracket was awesome. Chris Jericho is really good at wrestling.

Beth Phoenix's Gang Of Intimidating Lady Street Toughs must become a permanent faction going forward.

He had it removed when he had her removed.

Same here ... Not the greatest comedy segment in WWE history, but when I was expecting Rosie-Donald II, it actually had its moments (it's all about lowered expectations).

Also, since the candidates were ripping off wrestling catchphrases left and right, would it have killed the writers to break out a "Through hellfire and brimstone, it's McCain!"?
Seriously ...

Are they back to planning things in advance a bit?

MVP beats Jericho on his show -> Jericho beats MVP on his show

CM Punk loses to Jericho post WM on RAW -> Punk gets a bigger win to go the finals

Regal nearly beating Orton in England makes him seem like a much more reasonable KOTR than if he'd just been GM for months.

Maybe they just are remembering what they've done a bit better, I dunno.

I have heard from sources (read the Internet) that the Hillary was women's wrestler Lexie Fyfe. I have no clue who Barack was though. I just wanted to believe it was Brandon "The Thrill" Hill.

It didn't matter, the fake Bill Clinton was once again the star. "See, Umaga is with us!"

With a crowd that was kinda dead, I couldn't believe they got that into the Hardcore Holly/Carlito match.

"I did NOT have illegal contact with that candidate" had me on the floor after Fake Bill tripped up the People's Elbow.

Also, him playing up to the "Monica" chant was pretty funny.

Speaking of which, it would've been much better if instead of Umaga breaking up the festivities, Kane came out in his "Ron Paul 2008" t-shirt and chokeslammed everybody and reminded everyone that Ron Paul was still in the race. Then the crowd would go silent, until the big man was standing alone in the middle of the ring while a few scattered laughs slowly ballooned into uproarious, mocking laughter.

In all seriousness, to say that the segment wasn't as bad as Fake Donald vs. Fake Rosie is like saying dog poop is okay because it doesn't smell as bad as an open landfill. Okay, it's a bit of an exaggeration and a bit unfair since the most complimentary words written are "it could've been worse" (with the exception of DJFrostyFreeze whose praise of the segment is sure to be quoted on the back cover of the huge DVD release), but I still found it pretty unwatchable and it looks like the ratings agreed with me. McMahon had a great opportunity to spin this into WWE being viewed as legitimate entertainment and a huge outlet that reaches the "common man" that is its audience, but instead it's diluted by the failed sitcom writers in Creative doing the very thing that lost them their gigs in television and landed them in WWE (re: trying to write comedy and failing miserably).

On Taker and how he looked last night, WWE is just lucky that there's still a good number of cable systems that don't carry the HD feed for Monday Night RAW. Because wow, when more people see Taker and Shawn Michaels in HD, it's really going to sink in how old those guys are.

Punk/Jericho trading wins the last month or so is fine, I guess, but it still bothers me that the guy with the Money in the Bank briefcase drops as many clean losses as he does. When he won the MitB match at Wrestlemania and lost the very next night cleanly to Jericho, a running joke started between my roommate and I that he was going to cash it in for an Intercontinental Title shot...and honestly, I'm starting to wonder.

The rest of what I saw was fine. No mention of JBL being called essentially a con man by the New York Times earlier in the day when the Business section ran an article on his spanish fly-ish energy drink, which is perhaps less surprising than the fact that I haven't heard the drink itself hasn't even been mentioned on WWE programming in the first place ("goes great with some good ol' JR's barbecue sauce" - good ol' JR).

Why would William Regal accept a demotion to Lord when he's now a King? King William Regal. Finally his surname fits his title.

re·gal
–adjective
1. of or pertaining to a king; royal: the regal power.
2. befitting or resembling a king.
3. stately; splendid.

I would also love to see the return of Squire Dave Taylor. I also love that after bowing down and pledging (temporary) loyalty to the last King of the Ring, King Booker, William Regal has now ascended to the crown.

In matters pretaining to the Colonies, I dug the appearances by the three Presidential candidates. IF I were basing my vote SOLELY on their ability to cut a wrestling promo, John McCain smacks down my vote. I was a little annoyed he co-opted "Smell what The Rock is cookin'" for himself, which really should have been left for Obama alone, but he did actually utilize about a half dozen other famous catchphrases. To me, Clinton and Obama pandered to the RAW audience while McCain talked to them/us like we were retarded children. Which makes him a heel, which makes me like him more because I like heels in wrestling. He's also the only one of the three who didn't claim that Randy Orton is losing the WWE Title at Backlash. Clinton and Obama want the Age of Orton to end as much as most people (not me).

Call me an Oliver Stone conspiracy theorist, but I detected a wee bit of political commentary from WWE. It's no secret the majority of WWE talent are Republicans, certainly Vince McMahon is. Interesting how McCain had the best written promo of the three and the two Democratic candidates were parodied and had their clocks cleaned by Umaga. I wager McCain has the Samoan Bulldozer contingent vote locked up.

Added now to Backlash, a historic 6 vs. 6 Divas tag match: Mickie James, Ashley, Maria, Michelle McCool, Cherry, and Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix, Victoria, Melina, Jillian, Layla, and Natalya Neidhart. Forget Layla; the other five heel Divas on the same side? I expect dominance. Five minutes of quick tags in and out as the heels tear Ashley and Michelle McCool apart would make me a happy man.

He did call him "Mr. Mamajuana himself" at one point during RAW, so it was mentioned at least in passing.

Honestly, who wants to be seen in public with a drink that says a) I'm trying to get it up or b) I want my small penis to be larger?

I didn't think this Raw was that bad, it's just that a show with MVP/Jericho, Hardy/Punk, Punk/Jericho, Regal/Finlay and Regal/Punk all with PPV length matches could've been awesome, instead this was just alright.

I love Regal, and I fear his winning this is leading to a last run for him, like Flair just had. I just lost Ric Flair from my weekly TV viewing, I don't want to lose William Regal, this year, as well. That would really suck.

I hate Punk. I hate him almost as much as I hate Cena... it's pretty close really, but anyways, Punk wasn't all that bad tonight, but I think it was just due to who he was in the ring against.

John McCain is awesome. I'd wager that he's sitting infront of the television every monday and friday watching wrestling. He just seems like that kind of person.

I have trouble equating MMA-hating McCain with a potential rasslin-loving McCain.

I think that there's a pretty big difference between pretending to hurt each other and actually trying to hurt each other. I would tend to doubt that McCain is a wrestling fan, but I don't think it would be hypocritical if he were. I don't think anything here requires reconciliation.

I remember the Rosie/Trump thing being much worse. I think if anything, the addition of Umaga should have come sooner and it would have come off better. I did appreciate the scoop slam/leg drop combo and loved how well excecuted the Rock Bottom was. Bill stole the show with his antics.

Nothing else stood out for me, other than Jericho landing on Punk's face and that Willliam mutha fuckin' Regal is our King and I couldn't be happier. Hell, of all the people on the different rosters, the only one I'd have prefered over him is Elijah Burke, but since he wasn't even in it, Regal's a great choice.

Cena can't be beat because he's some unholy genetic recombinate of superstars past. I mean, you might as well call him John "Realest of the Real, Sargent Rock - Cold - A - Mania" Cena.
