I hear ya...but it's just too "chantable" to let go. Maybe they could have made "SAVE_US, SAVE_US, SAVE_US" the new chant for him.

    I can hear it now:

    One side of crowd: "SAVE!"

    Other side of crowd: "UNDERSCORE!"

Back to the other side: "US~!"

    That and the ineveitable:

    "LOBB-er-SNOCK-er!"

Thank you, that was my feeling too ... They could have at least had him wearing a hoodie or something, just so it wasn't that obvious.

I mean, technically, almost everyone knew it was him all along anyway ... but it still would've been nice to have the "Save_Us.Y2J" text appear on the Titan-Tron, THEN cue the countdown, THEN see the crucifixion pose.

I think the music did drown out the crowd, because when they were shown, they seemed to be going bananas all over the arena. Either way, it was a hell of a response to a guy who has barely been mentioned on TV for over 2 years.

For those thinking HHH and Hardy are going to be matched up at Mania, then who is going to be in the title match? They have already done HBK-Y2J at Mania, and HBK-Orton is out of legs.

The new feuds are a pleasant surprise, and if/when Orton drops it to Jericho wouldn't HBK vs. Y2J at Mania be an IWC dream?

Point of order, JR congratulated Linda McMahon for being named one of the "50 Most Powerful Women in Cable TV" by "Cable World" magazine.

#48.

The show itself I enjoyed for the most part. Santino is still about the best mike work they've had in ages. Much funnier than jokes about Grisham and transvestites.

I thought the time from Jericho's clothesline to Jericho actually talking took WAY too long. They could have cut that down quite a bit and it would have been more dramatic.

But as soon as he had the mic, it was great.

My wife, who had no idea he was coming back at all, was freaking out. Her opinion was that he actually looks younger now than he did before.

This was a top-notch post-PPV RAW, for the most part.

I like the realignment of angles: Michaels vs. Kennedy, HHH/Hardy vs. Umaga/Snitsky (tag champs in three weeks), Jericho vs. Orton, Rhodes has now gotten past Holly, Santino just waiting for a decent feud, etc.

I'm keen -- genuinely curious -- as to how things develop.

Well, you do need to allow some time for the crowd to go nuts. The live crowd gave Jericho one of the biggest ovations I've seen in years. It also had a bit more of an impact than other big-name returns because a) he's been gone for two years, and there was a chance he wouldn't be coming back b) unlike Austin, Foley or the Rock, he's actually staying for the long run. So there was a lot of love being sent his way in that arena.

As for the return: Jericho continues his streak of wearing shockingly feminine outfits that no one but him could pull off. The promo was a bit paint-by-numbers, but was good enough to set the tone for his return. Hit a few catchphrases to get the crowd going, taunt the champ, and challenge for the belt. I mean, what else is he going to say?

The buildup was nice. You knew from the second Orton said the runner was there for the passing of the torch, that Jericho would interupt that.

The clothesline was kinda unexpected. I just figured the runner wouldn't show up on the ramp. But I like that he did his pose there. The crowd went nuts.
We all knew it was him, why not show it already.

Then the countdown..I loved it.
Jericho seemed to love it too. Which is always good.
I got the feeling the crowd was into it.

His promo might have been 'by the numbers' but what the fuck do you expect? He isn't going to introduce a whole new slew of catchphrases on his first night back.
I cackled when he said 'sexy beast' and I soooo chanted along -at home- when he said nothing would never eeeeever be the same agayne! (And so did the crowd there)

It was Jericho's moment. It was great.
Those that were disappointed have to explain to me what they expected to happen.
Jericho made his return in the main event slot, soaked in the spotlight, ran down why Orton sucks and said he wanted the belt, and seems the only one going after Orton for now.

Got me to thinking... how many people actually know what HHH stands for anymore? I'm guessing if you weren't around for the original Y2J run, you probably haven't heard HHH referred to as Hunter Hearst Helmsley much, either. Y2J and HHH just roll off the tongue easier, I guess.

When I saw him on Larry King during the Benoit stuff, I thought he looked like he was 12! It was the first time I had seen him since he cut his hair short. It is an improvement over his previous look, I think. Now if only HBK and HHH would follow suit.

HBK wishes he could cut his hair! Did you see how pissed he got when Orton pulled out his baldspot-hiding ponytail last night?

And I think HHH's nose would look huger than ever if he ever went with a short 'do.

Am I mistaken or didn't he state he wore a wig during his initial WWE run? I thought I read in an interview that he admitted it, and said "that's another example of how we protect each other, they knew not to yank my hair" or something. If so, did he cut it or just decide not to wear the wig?

I don't think that he ever had a wig. When he initally debuted you could see the different colors that he had it that had since grown out. But he did have the ponytail on top of his head, which was way cool.

I finally got around to watching it this evening (last night the wife and I watched heroes)

I enjoyed the return, although i agree that the time between the clothesline and jericho talking was WAY too long, but it was ok. I could have done without the "did you figure out the code? omg you're an idiot let me explain it for you" montage, but the countdown was 110% pure gold. using his old music was definitely the correct choice as well.

I noticed that jericho looks noticably smaller, as one might expect, but he looks muchmore defined than I remember him being. I'm guessing he spent some major gym time.

Also, his voice sounds somehow wrong. It's like he's got a cold or a sore throat or something. I suppose that it could just be that I'm remembernig poorly, but... I don't think so. Regardless, For being away for two years, his timing on live TV is still pretty damn good. I saw a few lines that he could have pulled off slightly better, but overall it was very impressive. I think only The Rock and Stone Cold (and MAYBE mick foley) can come back from long breaks and jump right back into promos as well (undertaker doesn't count cause most of his "breaks" are shorter than some people's summer vacations).

the "you remembered" line was fantastic. you could tell that when he was out there, he remembered why he did it for some many years. the man looked like he was thouroughly enjoying himself.

My Wrestlemania guess for him, assuming he stays on RAW, is micheals again. They stole the show last time, and cena won't be back yet (that's the summerslam plans I would imagine).

I wouldn't mind seeing a program between jericho and kennedy in the least.

I am nearly done reading his book, and the love for the business he talks about in the book is evident with the broad smile he had on his face during the promo.

My gf, who I am trying to get into the show, said "he looks more muscular than on his book". So, at least she noticed that too.

Cant wait for him to put the lionsault on Ortan, take the belt and go into "fighting champion" mode. I for one would love to have him and HBK headline Wrestlemania for the belt.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken he's said he'll be breaking out a new finishing move this time around.

You know, I was always amused when a new wrestler came in, or a wrestler broke out a new finishing move, and the announcers commented about how "He calls that The PinCushion!" I could always picture the guys in the back sitting around a coffee pot and one says "Yeah, I got this new finishing move ... I think I'll call it the PinCushion, what do you guys think?" And there around the corner would be the trusty announcer, taking notes.

I always figured that it was like how NFL announcers meet up with both teams a few days before the game to talk to them and get angles on stories. The wrestlers, being egomaniacal glory hounds one and all, make sure to get that info to the announcers so that their brilliant name for their brilliant move gets out to the public.
