-Fair Warning: I’ll probably be busy watching the Colts play the Jags next week (unless it’s a blowout), so there won’t be a full report. Now, onto the action!

-WWE Open.

-Clips of Orton winning the title at No Mercy, followed by highlights of last week’s Raw, leading to the return of The Heartbreak Kid.

-Live backstage, William Regal was in his office when Randy Orton walked up to him. Orton said he thinks Regal should decide who he faces at Cyber Sunday, not the fans. Orton wants a tune-up match tonight, and he also wants a triple-threat match between his possible opponents at CS: Mr. Kennedy vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Shawn Michaels. Regal was going to take it under advisement, but he had to get going....he had an announcement to make.

-RAW Open.

-RAW is emanating live from the United Kingdom tonight, welcomed by JR and Jerry Lawler. Even the English are booing Regal. Oh, maybe it was a “Regal” chant. Anyway, the GM is out, and Regal announced one-on-one matches with his possible Cyber Sunday opponents. Without further ado, Jeff is out first.

(1) Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
Orton gave an icy stare to Regal on the ramp before coming down for his match. Collar-and-elbow tie up in mid-ring to start the match. Orton doesn’t give a clean break in the corner. Irish whip and a charge is missed by Orton, and that led to two deep arm-drags for Hardy. Jeff clotheslined Orton over the top rope, then hit a baseball slide. But that wasn’t it: A crossbody over the top rope onto Orton followed. High-energy first two minutes before we took a break.

[Break]

Aw, we missed some of Orton’s classic headlocks during the break. Hardy broke out and ran the ropes, but Orton hit a quick powerslam for a two-count. High knee-drop by the WWE Champ, for only two. Another chin-lock from Orton. Phew. This one didn’t last long, as Jeff hit a wrap-around clothesline, but couldn’t capitalize. Hardy just throwing his body at Orton to take him down. Whisper in the Wind hit for a near-fall. Crowd is into it, much like last week with Jeff/Kennedy. Corner dropkick by Hardy. Speak of the devil, Kennedy showed up at ringside, causing a distraction, resulting in an RKO from Orton and that’s it.

Winner: Orton at 8:30

-Jerry Lawler demonstrated how to vote on WWE.com for Cyber Sunday.

-Tonight, Orton faces Kennedy. And.....he faces HBK!

[Break]

(2) Santino Marella vs. Val Venis
Maria was out with Santino, looking quite happy with him. He did some pre-match mic work, making sure to plug The Condemned. This wouldn’t be a bad filler match for Cyber Sunday, with the fans getting to vote to spice things up a bit. Val hammered away at the bell. Reverse Irish whip by Santino, and he ran into a boot. Santino though, knocked Val off the second rope, tangling his knee in the ropes again. Santino worked the knee, including a half crab. After a rope break, Val hit a chop that gave him some time to breathe, but Marella went right back to work on the knee. Val kicked Santino off, then hit a clothesline and a back elbow. Full-nelson slam was countered by Santino, and Marella rolled up the former porn star, while holding the rope, for the win.

Winner: Marella at 2:43

-A DivaSearch video aired.

-Backstage, Coach was talking to Carlito, insulting the English while they were at it. Carlito laughed at Hornswaggle beating Coach with his own cane last week. He said he needed to get Hornswaggle in the right place at the right time. Then, from behind, Horny stole Coach’s apple and ran away.

[Break]

-Hornswaggle continued his run from Coach backstage, which included running through the catering area, which was full of preppy nobodies. Hornswaggle jumped on Coach, who fell over a table. The chase continued.

-Clips of RAW last week, with Umaga destroying Triple H.

-Regal and Vince talked backstage, and apparently Triple H is not going to enjoy the demonstration that Umaga will be doing soon. Vince also tried to correct Regal’s mis-pronunciation of “Umaga.”

-Mr. Kennedy is walking backstage, coming to the ring to face Randy Orton, next!

[Break]

(3) Mr. Kennedy vs. Randy Orton
Lock-up and a side-headlock grabbed by Kennedy. Orton reversed into one of his own. Quick roll-up by Kennedy for a near-fall. Another headlock by Kennedy, then a shoulder knockdown. Orton with some big right hands to Kennedy, then a head-first slam into the turnbuckle. Kennedy fought out of the corner, but a thumb to the eye ended that. Kennedy swatted away a dropkick for a near-fall. Shot to the gut by Orton, then a European uppercut. I don’t know how I feel about them giving away all possibilities for the championship match at Cyber Sunday. Inverted back-breaker by Orton. Kennedy came back with a Lambeau Leap, but from the mat. Jeff Hardy ran out and attacked Kennedy for the DQ.

Winner: Kennedy by DQ at 3:35

-Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton is still to come.

[Break]

-Vince McMahon came out. He patted himself on the back (figuratively) for creating Cyber Sunday, then brought out Umaga. Vince said one of the matches to choose from between Umaga/Triple H is a street fight. Britain’s own Andy Simmons was in the ring, apparently to fight Umaga in a street fight. Yep, there’s the bell.

(4) Umaga vs. Andy Simmons, Street-Fight
Umaga splashed Simmons, then choked him with some wire on the outside. He threw the man over the announce table then picked up a chair. He brought a chair into the ring, and Samoan dropped the kid onto it. That’s all folks.

Winner: Umaga at 1:34

-Vince stopped the refs from taking Simmons backstage and mentioned another stipulation would be a first blood match. Poor Andy has another beating to take.

(5) Umaga vs. Andy Simmons, First Blood Match
Umaga hit the running headbutt on Simmons as he was hung upside down in the corner. He then hit the running butt slam. Vince called for Umaga to finish him off, and he nailed the kid with several Samoan spikes. This somehow drew blood.

Winner: Umaga at 1:25

-The medics came down to take Andy away, never to be seen from again. But Vince wasn’t done. The third option: A steel cage match. Uh-oh. For some reason, we got shots of what just happend in the previous two “matches.”

(6) Umaga vs. Andy Simmons, Steel Cage Match
Inside the cage, Umaga rammed Simmons head-first into the steel cage. And again. Vince was in rare form, calling for Umaga to end Simmons. Umaga picked him up over his head and threw him into the cage. Umaga walked out, though there was no bell to end the match.

Winner: Umaga at 1:28

-Still to come, HBK vs. Randy Orton.

[Break]

-Coach continued his chase of Hornswaggle backstage. Horny got on a well-placed tricycle-sized bike, and Coach got on a regular bike and followed him. They passed Ron Simmons, who passed judgment with a “Damn!”

(7) Jillian Hall vs. Candice Michelle
Jillian told Lillian that her musical performance last week stunk. And that she was lip-synching. Oh, that’s a burn. Then Jillian cued up highlights of Lillian’s band performing last week. She said real singers get judged on how well they do without a band. She “sang” a Spice Girls tune until she was interrupted by Candice Michelle and her crazy techno theme. JR called Jillian Beth Phoenix before the bell even rang. Spinning heel kick by Candice after Jillian went after her before the bell. Candice hit Christian’s finisher (The Unprettier, was it?) for the quick win.

Winner: Candice at :40

-Backstage, Beth Phoenix said Candice was invoking her re-match clause next week. She then explained what a Glamazon was. I still don’t understand, but, whatever.

-Cody Rhodes was warming up backstage when Bob Holly came in and asked him why he challenged him again this week. Rhodes said he can earn Holly’s respect. Bob said he’s been beating up people for a long time, and tonight might be Rhodes’ last chance to beat him. He then slapped Cody and Cody stared hard at him- Bob said that was the stare he was looking for.

[Break]

(8) Brian Kendrick vs. Highlander Member Rory
Cade and Murdoch were the guest commentators. Kendrick dodged some Rory offense and pounded away. Rory though hit a Polish Hammer on Kendrick, then kicked at him and went for a pin. Kendrick ended up on the outside, then came back in and got his foot on the rope on a pin. Rory applied a front face-lock. After a brief comeback, Rory hit Kendrick in the gut with a knee. He missed a charge coming in though and Kendrick hit a high dropkick. Robbie tried to come into the ring, then backed off and London went after him. The distraction allowed Rory to take over and hit a reverse suplex, bouncing Kendrick off the ropes, then got the pin.

Winner: Rory at 3:19

-The highlight package of No Mercy/HBK from the beginning of the show aired.

-HBK vs. Randy Orton is tonight! We’ll hear from Michaels next though.

[Break]

-The Grish was backstage with the returning Shawn Michaels. He said wherever Orton turns, he’ll be there. Michaels said when all is said and done, he’ll be facing Orton at Cyber Sunday for the title.

-More zaniness with Hornswaggle and Coach. Horny ran into the Divas locker room, followed by screams. Then Coach walked in after him, after some deliberation. Hornswaggle came out with some panties, while Coach was thrown out.

-A Save_Us222 video interrupted JR and King. King said he has an idea of what it means. But he wasn’t saying.

-Hornswaggle finally ran out into the arena, and Coach was after him. Horny ran under the ring, and Coach’s plan went into effect. This included a comically large giant detonating device, with lever you press down and everything blows up. But Coach is in the ring....wouldn’t that blow him up too? Coach pushed down, but nothing happened. Again, nothing. Coach followed the wire underneath the ring, and Hornswaggle came out the other side. He jumped into the ring and pressed down, and something magically blew under the ring. Smoke billowed out from under it. This is a bit too much like Noble and Hornswaggle’s shenanigans on Smackdown. Coach came out from under the ring coughing and bloack with some sort of soot, I guess.

-Randy Orton/Shawn Michaels is still to come. Next though, is Cody Rhodes vs. Bob Holly.

[Break]

(9) Cody Rhodes vs. Hardcore Holly
There’s something about Rhodes’ swagger when he comes out to the ring that makes me think he’d make a natural heel down the line. Rhodes got sent into the ropes, and shoulderblocked Holly down. Holly sent him over the top, but Rhodes skinned the cat. Holly saw it coming and chopped him down, then laid some more on in the corner. Rhodes reversed in a different corner and hit a chop of his own. Holly came out with a boot and a forearm. He missed a clothesline and Rhodes hit a cross-body. Another knockdown by Holly. Holly did some clubberin’ on the son of the son of a plumber. Rear chinlock by Holly. JR called him “Cody Runnels” at one point. Holly set Cody up on the ropes and kicked him in the ribs. He set up for the Alabama Slam, but Rhodes rolled up the veteran for a near fall. Inside cradle and the same. Crucifix roll-up for a near-fall. Backslide for two. Holly missed a charge and Rhodes got a roll-up for two. Dropkick by Holly caught Rhodes coming off the ropes. Holly to the top for a cross-body which hit, but Rhodes rolled through for two. Holly got up first and hit the Alabama Slam for the victory.

Winner: Holly at 3:52

-Next is HBK vs. Randy Orton!

[Break]

(10) Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton
As soon as the bell rang, the two ran to mid-ring and started throwing haymakers. HBK got the best of it and Orton went to the outside. Michaels followed and threw Orton into the ring. Orton missed a punch and Michaels got a roll-up for two. Michaels hit some chops, then rolled up Orton for two. Elbow by Orton put Shawn down hard. Orton nailed Michaels with some punches, right in the face. He then set the Heartbreak Kid on the top rope and tried to suplex him off, but Michaels fought out of it. HBK perched himself on top and hit an elbowdrop. Before Shawn could capitalize, Kennedy hit the ring for the DQ.

Winner: HBK by DQ at 2:13

-As expected, Jeff came to the ring to take out Kennedy. He was thrown to the outside, and Orton sized up Michaels for the RKO. Michaels pushed him into an unsuspecting Kennedy, and HBK followed up with a superkick. HBK trash-talked a face-down Orton as the show went off the air.

Don't know what this may mean, but save_us222 became save_us229 this week. There would be a 2/29 next year that falls on a Friday. It wouldn't seem likely that this would go on for that long though.

Nice recap, as usual.

I actually got to see a lot of Raw tonight, and it was fun.

It sounded like a hot crowd - but they always are overseas.

Perhaps it's only because I don't get to watch Raw every week, but I enjoyed the Hornswaggle stuff. It's not the worst comedy they've ever done, and the crowd was clearly digging it.

As for the PPV hype, do they always post how close the winners are? They usually make these clear enough so they get who they want in the events. But Jeff is going to steal quite a few some votes away from HBK.

I missed the backstage stuff with Holly and Cody. Are these two gonna make a tag run together or what already?

This was live from London? Must have started at 2am in the morning. My views..

1) Was it me or did almost everyone hope that Val Venis would end his losing streak on Raw??? At least they are playing his entrance music again.

2) I didn't think they could do it but they have built Umaga into a monster again. The only problem is he'll probably lose again to HHH.

3) 99.99% chance that HBK will face Orton at the PPV unless the voting is rigged.

4) Our local PPV commercial list Piper as one of the choices of ref while the WWE says it's JBL.

5) Beth Phoenix looks prettier without all that make up. And god, not another Candice Michelle/Phoenix (arrrrgh). The real women's wrestling outside of Phoenix is now in TNA.

6) Holly beats Rhodes yet again. Almost looks like Holly wants to be a mentor to Rhodes, much like the Flair/Carito angle a few months ago. They do work well together though.

7) Carlito - reduced to a small segment this week

8) No HHH at all this week, selling the beating by Umaga. Or passport problems perhaps???????

I think this show demonstrated the lack of talent on Raw as they had to use Orton three times, have a real long Umaga segment etc. It was an okay Raw, not bad, not good.

Triple the Orton, triple the fun - welcome to RAW is Headlock.

Rev 2:25 is roughly "Hold fast to what you have, until I come." No idea why the switch from .222 to "Save_Us.229" though. (29th would be the Raw after Cyber Sunday?) There was also a fairly prominent UPON_US at the end of this week's video.

I wonder if anyone who saw the "live" chyron at the top of the broadcast stopped to figure out it was 2am in London. I guess Regal works as a face because he's in England? The matches were predictably indecisive, but I guess that was the point.

I don't care how good Santino gets, there's no room on a PPV for a midcard match since they ended the split PPVs. Although you have to think Santino will get to appear and eat a stunner. And isn't there a reason behind "Umanga" and "Triple Haitch"? In the speaking proper English sense, I mean?

Liked the Santino and Cody/Holly segments, even if they aren't leading to much. The triple Orton challenge was okay, other than Regal falling out of character for one week only. And WWE writers continue to prove me wrong by finding ways to make Hornswoggle segments fall flat. "The building is shaking!" my eye.

And it's the same-old, same-old pointless Vince segments. For a bonus this week, we are treated to the logic-leap of 'uncontrollable savage' Umaga managing to follow along with the chairman just fine when it came to dishing out Street Fight and First Blood injustice on his own, without needing direction beyond "get 'em". Since Vince seems determined to hog airtime whether we like it or not, I'm all for a program leading up to the WrestleMania retirement match proposed for Ric Flair.

No, it was from Birmingham, England. You'd be forgiven for thinking London when they showed the scenes of red double decker buses and Piccadilly Circus. Barmy as we say !

Now maybe many Americans wouldn't notice, but we Brits certainly did !

Personally, most of the show seemed very amateur, maybe as it wasn't strictly live. Stuff happens on international recordings that you just don't get over there !

The show wasn't bad until the Looney Tunes crap with Coach and Hornswaggle, and the 2 minute main event. Maybe Shawn was not quite ready for a full match? Although, one can wonder why they gave away all three of the possible PPV main events for free this week. Wouldn't a 4 way match be better? I guess we will get the inevitable HBK/Jeff vs Orton/Mr. K next week.

If we are sure it will be HBK winning the vote (hasn't he won the vote twice before in 04 and 05?) then does he win the belt? I don't think the title has ever been switched at that PPV, but I would love for Randy to be a transitional champ again.

Vince trying to teach Regal how to pronounce Umaga's name was one of the funniest things of the night. What's next, how to pronounce his son-in-law's name?

Were there any Y2J chants last night? I didn't hear any.

Given the shenanigans between Kennedy and Hardy, I'm surprised part of the card announced last night wasn't that the two Main Event options not chosen would then fight each other in a pick the stip match. That would even more guarantee HBK as the pick, since people would want to see Hardy-Kennedy as well.

The show was taped, as Meltzer posted spoilers hours before the show started. If it had a live feel, it's because there was very little time to do any editing. Or because they wanted to keep the "live" feel.

Agreed about Vince and Regal. Too bad Vince had to be a part of it though. I am so sick of him, but he is still on the more talented performers they have, as far as mic time in concerned.

If you're going to be like that, then it's easy to justify anything in wrestling by saying "I don't see any proof". How do I know that Cena is a success when all the crowd does it cheer him?
