-WWE Open.

-RAW open.

-JR welcomes us to Tampa, Fla, one day after an “extreme” One Night Stand. I’ve had a few of those in my time, wink wink. Okay, I haven’t, but I thought it made for a good zinger. The champ is here, and makes his way to the ring. Cena lets the cheers (and boos) ring through the arena. He points out Wade Boggs in the front row, just because. Sounds like he thinks he’s seen the last of Khali, then goes right into talking about the draft. In case he moves on from RAW, he wants to say, one more time, the champ is......but before he can get it out, Vince’s music hits. He looks a bit sore. McMahon thinks Cena is here to embarrass McMahon. Cena coddles Vince, though he does call him delusional. Vince looks on the bright side, listing the things he HASN’T lost. McMahon says Cena will lose his tonight. He’s defending it in a triple-threat match against Umaga and Great Khali. McMahon, with a smile on his face, slowly backs out of the ring as Cena looks at his belt in the ring. Bizarre segment. I guess we’re getting “paranoid Vince” here.

[Break]

(1) (Whatever Happened To) Cryme Tyme & Candice Michelle vs. Johnny Nitro, Kenny Dykstra & Melina
Candice is all gangsta as she comes to the ring with CT. Dykstra brings a mirror down the ramp, holding it so Melina can look at herself as she comes to the ring. The ladies need to be pulled apart before the match starts. Kenny and JTG start things off, and Kenny tags out quickly after a nice double-team with Nitro. Another quick tag as Kenny comes off the ropes with a fist to the gut of JTG. Slingshot into a forearm, then Nitro propelling himself over the top rope to elbow JTG while he’s bent, slingshot-like over the knee of KD. Nitro with a modified cobra clutch on JTG, who finally makes a tag to Shad. He goes to work on both heels and hits the Snake Eyes on Nitro in the corner. Cover gets two as Dykstra breaks it up. Now Melina is in, so is Candice, both illegally. Shad press slams Candice onto Melina, then Cryme Tyme hit their finisher on Johnny for the win.

Winners: Cryme Tyme & Candice at 3:05

-Maria chats up Santino Marella ‘til bug-eyed Vince comes on the scene. He notices the belt, hilariously saying he used to have one of those. Maria tries to say something but Vince gives her the classic “SHUTUPP!” Santino tries to defend her, but instead, Marella will be defending his belt...right now. Vince seems to have a nervous tick, saying “get, get, get” over and over.

[Break]

-JR points out some Tampa Bay Bucs, including Derrick Brooks, seated in the front row tonight.

(2) Santino Marella vs. Chris Masters, I.C. Title Match

I am not getting tired of this feud, no sir. Marella goes for some early kicks, but gets sent down, then choked in the ropes. Masters goes for a pin, but only gets two. Marella back on top with some knees to the gut, and a rake of the eyes ends that. Another snake eyes, with a nice view of Santino getting his hand on the turnbuckle, protecting his head. Masters tries to adjust Marella’s neck and not in a good way. Jawbreaker by Santino then he hits some right hands. Back-heel trip and cover, almost a pin. Marella misses a running punch, and Masters hangs him out to dry on the top rope. He begins to stalk the champ for the Masterlock, but a nice counter by Santino ends that. Santino gets a nice version of La Magistra Cradle for the pin.

Winner: Marella by pinfall at 3:17

-Coming up later, Cena defends against Umaga and Khali!

[Break]

-The Hardy Boys are backstage when Cade & Murdoch come on the scene to congratulate them. Oh, and also ask for a title shot. Not tonight though, they want the champs when they’re 100%. Ya know, just to be fair. Vince shows up talking like an old black man. He tells Matt to stop smiling. And I think we know what’s going to happen here. Vince wants them to defend the straps (oops, sorry WWE) against C&M. Vince walks away and comes upon Torrie talking to the Nature Boy. He says he can’t stand a degenerate hanging out with someone half his age. Torrie reminds him of Vince’s past mis-deeds, which Ric laughs at. Vince makes Flair face Carlito. Then he says he didn’t mean Flair....he meant Torrie. Flair tries to defend her to no avail. Flair tells Vince to nut up and shut up (not in those words) then Vince says he’d like to fight Flair. McMahon says all he ever hears, wherever he goes, is “WOOOO!” McMahon calls Flair a legend, then says he should face a legend-killer tonight. Flair’s got a Horsemen shirt on OMG IS THIS A HINT THEY ARE COMING BACK?!?!

[Break]

(3) Randy Orton vs. Ric Flair
Flair starts off with some chops and punches in the corner. Then, the same, in another corner. Yes, more chops. Snap-mare, then a boot to the side of the head. Flair goes off the ropes and gets caught in a powerslam from Orton. Orton stalking Flair already, then we go to commercial mid-comment from JR.

[Break]

Back live, Flair has the Figure Four on Orton. Orton tries to wiggle over to the ropes, but can’t quite make it. He tries to turn it, but gets the ropes instead. Flair goes over to the ropes and Orton brings him down throat-first on them. Back in, Orton hits his unique backbreaker on Flair. Orton works on the Garvin stomp all over Flair. Wow, that was a terribly constructed sentence. Cover by Orton, only one. He starts punching away at Orton until referee Marty Elias pulls him off. Rear chinlock cinched in by Orton. Flair elbows out, then hits some chops but Orton dropkicks Flair for a near-fall. Into the turnbuckle, back-body drop on Flair. Orton drops a knee and gets a two-count. Another reverse chinlock by Orton. Flair counters with a back-suplex. Figure-four is blocked by Orton and turned into an inside cradle for two. Orton hammers away at Flair in the corner until Flair goes down. Flair tries to get his hands up but Orton continues with the punches. Naitch fights out and sends Orton to the mat. Flair with a chop then a two-count. Orton reverses Flair into the corner then hits a clothesline. Flair comes back, catching Orton with an elbow as he came off the ropes. Orton goes to the outside and Flair goes after him, but Orton hits Naitch with a clothesline. Orton continues the abuse on the outside, hitting a suplex. Back in, Orton looks like he wants to end it. But instead, hits the running kick to the head of Flair. The ref checks on Flair, and he’s going to continue. Flair tries to bring himself back to his feet using the ropes, then walks into an RKO. That’ll do it.

Winner: Orton by pinfall at 13:12

After the match, Orton looks like he wants to get another kick to the head, but Elias tells him to leave. Orton skulks out of the ring.

-Later tonight, the main event is Cena vs. Khali vs. Umaga for the WWE Title.

[Break]

(4) Carlito vs. Torrie Wilson
Carlito wants Torrie to just walk out because he doesn’t want to hurt her. She goes to leave and Carlito grabs her and takes her down. He brings her back up and hits her with the back-cracker for the win.

Winner: Carlito by pinfall at :42

-The Hardyz are backstage, making their way to the ring for their tag match, which is NEXT!

[Break]

(5) The Hardyz vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, World Tag Title Match
Cade and Matt start the match. Good bit of chain wrestling from the two. Cade elbows out of a hammerlock. Inside cradle by Cade almost good enough for the win. Matt’s got the taped ribs and JR says Jeff’s back is messed up. Beautiful dropkick by Cade. Tag in to Murdoch, who works the left arm. Reverse elbow puts Matt down for a pin attempt. JR can’t even understand why the Hardyz were asked to be here tonight. Tag in to Jeff and the girls go wild. Nice double-team by the Hardyz. Arm-bar on Trevor, tag to Matt who comes off the top with a double axe-handle. Jeff springboards off Matt for the splash in the corner. Cover is no good as Cade breaks it up. Bodyslam on him by Matt, and both C&M are tossed to the outside. Jeff jumps onto Murdoch on the outside, and Jeff comes up limping. Matt takes over on Murdoch with Jeff still aching as we go to break.

[Break]

Matt has a side-headlock on Trevor as we return. Murdoch, though, lays the shoulder into Matt in the corner. Tag in to Cade after a high-impact maneuver by Murdoch. Cade works the knees into the back and rib area of Matt. Murdoch tags in and hits a side Russian leg sweep, hooks the near leg and Matt kicks out at two. Matt tries to fight back against Cade but Lance hits a spinebuster for a near-fall. Murdoch with a loud forearm to the back of Matt. Snap-mare into a sort of bear hug by Murdoch. JR and Lawler note that Cade and Murdoch are doing the smart thing by attacking the injury of Matt Hardy. Matt gets out of it and both men are down. Both teams make tags, and Jeff gets a dropkick over the top rope then a flying forearm and atomic drop. Jeff works over Cade then goes to the top until Murdoch knocks him off. Matt hits the Side Effect (I think) on Cade and Jeff is on the top. Swanton misses and Cade goes for the cover. Bad timing ends the match, as Jeff was supposed to put his foot on the rope and Trevor, from the outside, knocking it off, but it didn’t look smooth. Anyway, new tag champs!

Winners: Cade & Murdoch by pinfall at 12:34

Matt wants to know if Jeff’s foot was on the ropes but the new champs plead ignorance, then hit the Hardyz with the tag belts.

-More backstage zaniness with Vince! This time, he’s with Coach and Vince can’t shake it (whatever it is). He’s got an ominous feeling and the black cloud is rolling in. Are they killing off Vince?! Vince says next week he’ll feel so much better. Along with the draft, next week is about....something else....which I guess we’ll find out next from Coach.

[Break]

-Coach comes to the ramp to make an announcement. He talks about the draft and mentions that, in addition, it will be Mr. McMahon appreciation night.

-Khali makes his way out for the main event, which is next!

[Break]

(6) Great Khali vs. Umaga vs. John Cena, WWE Title Match
Khali works over Cena as Umaga leaves the ring. Cena gets elbowed in the corner then Khali kicks him. To the outside, Khali whips Cena into the steel steps. Umaga grabs the steps and (accidentally?) throws them at Khali. Cena gets clotheslined inside the ring by Umaga. Sunset flip on the Samoan bulldozer is no good, but he misses the butt splash. Umaga is still hammering away on Cena, but Cena puts his knees up and Umaga sits right on them. From the top, Cena’s flying bodypress gets caught by Umaga and turned into a sidewalk slam. Now Umaga and Khali are face to face in the ring. They start throwing soupbones at each other and Khali gets his leg up and Umaga runs into it. Cena’s back in and lifts Khali up for the FU but Khali elbows Cena in the face to get out of it. Cena gets whipped hard into the corner. Pickup and slam from Khali. Khali goes for the pin but Cena gets the foot on the rope. Khali with a chop to Cena’s head. Khali wants the chokeslam, but Umaga interrupts and ties Khali up in the ropes. Umaga misses a splash on Cena as Khali gets out and tries to chokeslam him, but gets spiked. Cena shoulderblocks Umaga out and lifts Khali up and lands the FU to retain the title.

Winner: Cena by pinfall at 7:47

The best part of the main event for me was the crowd just dying during the Khali-Umaga staredown.

Say, whatever did happen to Armando Alejandro Estrada? If I were him, I'd get my resume ready.

Vince reminded me tonight of William Shatner. TEK-WAR!

note to Jeff Hardy. If the finish involves you having your foot on the ropes, try to get close enough to the ropes to put your foot on them.

It worries me that someone tonight speculated that the "black cloud" could be the return of Stephanie.

I was ready to complain about this show having way too much Vince...until they announced that next week would be Mr. McMahon Appreciation Night, meaning there will be even MORE McMahons on TV (because can you really have a Vince McMahon Appreciation Night without Shane AND Stephanie?)!

Decent show otherwise, especially a surprisingly entertaining main event.

King is now leader in the clubhouse for line of the year with worrying that Matt (SmackDown) and Jeff (Raw) Hardy, tag-team champs could potentially get split up in the Draft next week.

After the finish of his match last night, I was afraid that we hadn't seen the last of McMahonamania - and I thought this was a particularly insipid performance by the chairman. For a minute I thought he was going to insert himself into the main event, to take Cena's gold away personally.

Candace getting down with Cryme Time and the tag match (before the turn, although I suppose there's a good chance it had to come this week with the draft) were the only things I liked on this show. On the upside, it was just a throwaway Raw pending a whole new direction (except for continued McMahon fellation) next week.

Oh, and I was really disappointed when Flair didn't go all "ABUSE... OF POWER!" on psychotic Vince.

Marella busting out an STO made me happy. They have the potential to make an Italian Shamrock, and I say they should pursue it.

The McMahon-Cena segment worked so well because Ross and Lawler shut up. There was no "did you hear that, JR?" or "I can't say I agree, quite frankly." They let the guys in the ring carry the talking, and despite some excruciating pauses from Vince, it worked well.

Just as a guy can't lose when he wears new tights, a guy can't lose when he cuts his hair. Cade looks a lot better now without the flowing locks.

Orton is doing well in his version of Bubba Ray Dudley's orgasmic table stare. I buy his new aggression.

I dont know if it was their intentions, but the Hardys come across as sore losers tonight, more so than Cade and Murdoch come across as the heels.

Orton's "Iceman" routine is growing on me.

Can't wait for the draft, sick of Cena/Khali or Umaga. I hope it's a major shake-up.

Hardys, Cryme Tyme, Cade & Murdoch, WGTT, Kenny/Nitro, Deuce/Domino, Regal/Taylor, London/Kendrick and to a lesser extent the Highlanders....WWE has a pretty decent tag division compared to where they were a year ago.

I liked it, but it just seemed there knowing the draft is coming next week. Bring it on!

I really only watched this show so I would know what's going on when I watch next week's draft. I was actually looking really forward to it. Then Coach announced it was Vince Appreciation Day and I realized I had wasted 2 hours because I'm not watching next week now.

So, am I the only one who thinks that marketing your energy drink as being "powered by" the old sweatsock that resides in Mick Foley's crotch isn't exactly the best marketing angle to take?

Other than the dumbass Vince McMahon segments, this wasn't a bad show at all, I thought.

I loved the tag title match. Just goes to show you that the tag division is still (and should be) of some importance.

Not a fan of Cryme Tyme, but I thought Nitro & Dykstra made them look decent. Was Kenny Dykstra doing the ol' Hollywood Blondes "wind-up-the-camera" bit?

I believe that company that's making the energy drink has ties to Eric Bischoff, the name looked familiar.

I am glad Cade & Murdoch won th belts, as I have thought they were being wasted before this feud, which was executed perfectly. It also frees up Matt and Jeff to fill some open slots at the top of the card on both shows.

I guess it is that time of year when they think the only way to boost ratings is MORE MCMAHONS!

I was also wondering where Estrada has been? He was the best part of the Umaga gimmick!

Undeserved or not, Orton is making the most of this recent push.

I assume the situation with Vince is going to lead to the rumored "Night of Champions" at the next PPV. Perhaps he'll snap and say "ALL of the championships will be on the line" as part of his recent neurosis. Seems to be a decent build to that announcement, at least.

Overall I thought it was a fun show, with some starts that'll be interesting to see where they finish. Personally I thought they should have delayed the Cade/Murdoch turn until a rematch -- perhaps have Murdoch deny knocking the foot off the rope and Cade believing him and stating "we'd never do anything like that" and then even arguing with him when the Hardys showed video evidence -- and then completing the turn at the end of a rematch. Of course, they may have needed to close things up last night due to the draft, who knows.

Cade and Murdoch were entirely justified in their post-match beatdown. Matt Hardy illegally attacked Cade to set up Jeff of the top rope. Cade and Murdoch were only cheating in retaliation. Then, rather than admit defeat and shake hands as Cade and Murdoch had done in the past, Matt Hardy had to cry like it was prior to Mania XXI.
And people actually believed Vince having his head shaved would cause him to ride off into the sunset.

+ Vince's feud with Lashley over, and nothing immediately set up to replace it

All good points, as being indicative of them building to a big character send-off, but to what purpose? (sure, they could have a big debut set to write off/replace Vince as storyline boss, but I'm first guessing here) Is all this to get over a new GM-type character??

I think it's fair to say that the WM angle was designed first to get PPV buys, second to get mainstream publicity by using Trump, and thirdly (at best) to get Lashley over as a main eventer. But considering everything they've invested into this angle since WM, the only logical purpose could be an attempt to get Bobby "over like Rover" (© Lance Storm). And if that's the case, Lashley should have been allowed to squash Vince dead in the end, just like DX did. Who needed that rub more?

You'd *think this is all leading to Vince going bye-bye, but who's to say? Vince could have easily started feuds with Cena, Santino, The Hardys, and/or Ric Flair last night... or perhaps it's time for Umaga to turn on his new master? If Vince thinks he's money and ratings.. well, he's the boss and ultimate head of the booking committee - he can invent a grudge as quick as you can spill a cup of coffee on someone, right? I was tired of him during the DX feud, but at least understood the WM angle.

Ultimately, I SOOOO hope you're right ;)

All Iam going to say is please at least attempt to make Orton's script believable!! In the match, Flair drives a knee into Orton's head.no give under Orton's head there it's kinda on the mat with nowhere to go. He is fine after a few minutes. Now later one Flair gets kicked in the head, again another guy who has taken alot of chair shots and on. Now he has a concussion and the match has to stop.

Come on!!! Heck at this rate a few more weeks and Orton will be the one man RAW show as it seems everyone on the roster can take a beating on the head and be fine unless Orton kicks them one time.

And the bad part is I like Orton as a wrestler. But dang this is ridiculous.

Rest of it was decent, glad Cade and Murdock got the belts, they are really working good together now. If WWE would push it they have some good tag team talent that would make for some good matches.
