I'm assuming we will be seeing the coming of Lance Von McMahon.

The Maria/Simmons/Santino thing would be made all the awesomer if the Hardcore title with the 24/7 rule could somehow be involved. I want to see them on a date, Santino interrupt, Umaga appear to squash Santino, and somehow the waitress (being played by Nattie Neidhart as they introduce her as a girl waiting tables to pay for wrestling school) wins the Hardcore belt. All of course punctuated by Simmons looking at the carnage and the sprinting away waitress and hitting his catchphrase.

I watched the last 45 minutes or so. It was the first time I watched RAW in over a year. The Internet is so wrong about Santino Marella. Even without seeing him in the ring, this guy is fucking awesome. The Dating Game owned, and he carried the whole thing. (Well, him and Regal and Regal's new poofy haircut. Or new to me at least.)

(Mr. Kennedy, on the other hand, is about as annoying as shit. Him I've seen before on a few PPVs on 24/7 and I'll be damned if I can figure the appeal out. Is there a reason he says that "KENNEDY!.......kennedy" thing, or has he just been doing it so long that everyone assumes it makes sense. Because it totally doesn't.)

On turning Umaga face: They should have done it a few months ago when he was involved with the family McMahon and just have him absolutely leave Vince for dead. Of course, that would have eliminated the 'brilliant' limo idea. Now, they almost had no choice, as either Dusty's son, Lawler or Sandman was #2 babyface single on the show.
Shouldn't they take Jeff out of the opening while he is out due to Wellness Related issues?
If they are going to go completely over the edge on the paternity issue, have the mother of his son-in-law be the person filing the claim, thus his daughter would have been impregnated by her half-brother. That'll really pump up the buy-rates.

The mystery offspring of Vince is obviously going to be Kennedy, since he was rumored to be booked as being behind the limo explosion.

I think you may have two rumors confused.

- Vince was going to be behind the own explosion - actually he still is, he acknowledged it at the start of RAW. Linda would been teased as the mad bomber on the Investigation RAW, but it would've turned out to be Vince testing everyone.

- That angle was supposed to leading in this new bit - Who's The Secret McMahon? The original plan, pre-Benoit death (and may still be, so I'm spoilering it

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
was for the new McMahon was supposed to be Kennedy, leading to a feud with Triple H

Bryan Alvarez mentions all of this on his (free) audio show today (skip about 70 minutes to get to it), so you know I'm just making this up. Maybe HE'S making this up, but I don't think so.

I was prepared to hate The Dating Game until the camera switched to Duggan, and we saw
1) the board wearing the tie; and
2) he realizes he's wearing his wedding ring and removes it.

Everything after that was goodness.

Well, at least this week, I believe the point with Kennedy saying "Kennedy" over and over was foreshadowing. Of course, since this is WWE, it was done with the subtleness of a dropping anvil on one's head.

Just where the hell are they going with Umaga? Turning him face? Where's the logic? I can only see them going with a "Orton and Carlito interfered in my match, therefore I had to destroy them" kind of logic, but that's basically all I got.

Man, it's times like this where I miss Estrada.

Old school ring announcers (the ones who got the mike from a wire hanging down to the ring) would announce a fighter like this

And Now, in the Red Corner, wearing silver trunks, from Louisville, Kentucky, he is the man known as the greatest, at 221 pounds, the HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD.... Muhammad ALI......... Ali!

I assume Ken's just imitating that....

Yeah, it used to make more sense when he would actually announce his height and weight along with his name prior to his matches.

Umaga misunderstood Orton repeatedly slapping his chest to rile him up and charge Cena.

If Umaga is booked as a absolute face, the MSG crowd will turn against him. I hope the writers take that into account next week.

Either that or the suit could very well uncover Vince's deep, dark past as a traveling salesman... ya know, Willy Loman Dudley?

It is impressive that Marella, the guy with the least experience, carried that segment. But everyone played their role well. I was prepared to hate it, but laughed several times, I admit it.

You will see a lot of the Kennedy-like intros on 24/7, especially in the old house shows form the 70s and early 80s.

HHH returning at MSG is a nice nod to his previous return in 2002 in the same building. Believe it or not, the pop nearly blew the roof off. His face turn was nothing but downhill from there.

So what is up with Jeff Hardy? I haven't been able to find any info on his suspension.

Actually, I'd love if that's how the angle turned out in the end.

So, Who are these so-called mystery children of mine? I demand they come out right now!!!

KENNY! JOHNNY! MITCH! NICKY! MIKEY!!!

And we are....

Mr. McMahon's illegitimate children!!! *Spirit Squad theme plays*

I was (un)lucky enough to have been at RAW live last night.

We began our trek to HSBC Arena by arriving at the University of Buffalo. We decided to park there and ride the subway to HSBC. At every stop, we collected more and more wrestling fans, most of whom were talking about Cena and Orton. One guy at the other end of the train was imitating King Booker, and pretty well too. He made the long ride easier to sit through.

We got to the arena just as they were letting people in. We were way up in the nose-bleeds, but it wasn't that bad a view. Almost straight across from the Titan-Tron (in other words, almost directly behind JR and King, only tons of rows up).

Before the show started, there was an audible "Cena Sucks" chant, and a little later, a slight "Let's Go Orton." Buffalo seemed to like him for some reason.

The lights went out and we got the "no video-taping, etc." warning. Then a rather long video of celebs talking about WWE, and also showing all the charity work the E does.

Lillian Garcia came out first, and I thought I heard her call it "HBC Arena," but everyone was so pumped I don't think many caught it.

The dark match was Cody Rhodes against Ryan O'Reilly. Cody got some boos due to the pro-Orton crowd, but by the time the battle royal rolled around, the fans were behind him. He beat O'Reilly in about five minutes with a DDT.

The camera guys got read for the taping of Heat. The first match was Daivari vs. Super Crazy. Crazy got a nice pop and of course Daivari got major heel heat (except for the guy in front of us, who seemed to cheer for the heels, at least during the matches prior to Raw). Daivari won in an upset by using the Camel Clutch. He then got on the mic and spoke in his native tongue which got even more boos.

We have a jobber sighting! Val Venis beat what sounded like Sterling Beaman. Val made short work of the Pittsburgh native, finishing him off with the Money Shot, then giving his towel to and kissing a girl in the crowd.

The Heat main event was Cade & Murdoch against Cryme Tyme. These two teams have good chemistry, and CT got a HUGE pop when they came out. Since this was a non-title match, Cryme Tyme won when Murdock tried to suplex Shad into the ring and JTG held his feet so Shad landed on him for the win.

We got the fifteen seconds until live warning. This was during a commercial break where they preview Raw.

Lillian then sang the National Anthem (beautfiully, I might add). J.R and The King made their way out and I immediately surmised that Lawler was wrestling tonight, as he wore his tights out.

I figured we were in for a long night when Vince told us the topics he was going to discuss.

The thing I noticed during the Battle Royal was Regal on the outside. I didn't see how he got there, but noted that he was down and looked to be injured. But when no refs or medics came down (and when the refs were stepping over and around him), I figured it was an angle. Sandman got a huge pop for the supposed win.

During most commercial breaks, nothing happened. The second break saw Candice Michelle come out and host the kiss cam. In the ad break prior to Carlito's Cabana, we got a video of WWE visiting the troops. And after the Booker/Lawler match (Lawler was quite over, by the way), Todd Grisham came out and had the fans hold up their signs to get them on the Titan-Tron.

Luckily, we were high enough up in the building to not be able to see Snitsky's bacne...During Vince's diatribe against the media, I felt like I was watching a propaganda film....I liked Cena's stuff tonight (two nights in a row!) as they seemed to stay away from the juvenille stuff...Booker/Lawler was okay, but damn, that ax kick was ugly....As the show deteriorated, I thought at least I could look forward to a Kennedy promo. Then we got THAT....Like most, I was ready to hate the Dating Game (so was the crowd, what with the lack of actual wrestling), but it was quite entertaining....What's with Regal pronouncing Umaga's name "you-manga"?...As for the main event, it was fine, and Umaga got a good pop for his face(?) turn.

The post-Raw dark match saw Orton face Cena in a title match that lasted about two or three minutes. Cena won with the STFU. Carlito came down and got FU'd as well.

Crowd was okay for the evening. I nearly buried my head in my hands when they started the "What" crap during Vince's spiel. Duggan was the crowd fav in the battle royal. Jillian got some good heat for her "singing." And they stayed alive during the Dating Game segment, which could've been a disaster. At first, they were about 60/40 against Cena, but by the end of the night, most were cheering, I'd say.

Strangely, as bad as I thought this Raw was, I'll probably shell out the bucks the next time they come to town. Oh well. Such is life as a wrestling fan.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

Over on Stablewars, we're betting on the love child being the newly-hired Lacey Adkisson, daughter of "The Texas Tornado" Kerry von Erich.

- The last time they wanted to do this angle, it was going to be a daughter, not a son.
- The name value is big enough for it to be meaningful in regards to the angle.
- She's the right age for the angle. (Kennedy is a bit too old to be going after Vince's money in this fashion.)
- She's certainly good-looking enough (a951.ac-images.myspacecdn.com) for Vince to want to associate with her on-camera.
- The timing of the signing is way too coincidental for it to be for anything other than this.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

She almost looks like Kelly Kelly. Hell, they all look like each other.

Also, this "Vince has another child out there" idea is 100% awful. I mean, how does this angle play out in the ring?

Well, if the one rumor is true that it will be KK and he somehoe ends up feuding with HHH, there is your payoff in the ring. Remember when HHH and Steph had a brief encounter onscreen last year and they were all gooey with each other? Maybe that will explain in the storyline that they reunited after that. If so, good luck getting the fans to cheer HHH with Steph at his side.

The only problem is this: How do you keep HHH's fan appeal, largely based on his anti-authority DX persona, while having him feud with someone over millionaire daddy's money?

You put him on top, shove him down everyone's throat and scream at the top of your lungs - HE'S OVER!

The depths of posting

Also - re: the ratings and this show. I mentioned "LAY LOW" in another thread, and will do more on the topic elsewhere. Last night proved to me why this show should be nowhere near USA and people who are crowing about 2.5...to a 3.8 GOD BLESS VINCE are crazier than I could ever be. Malfunction + hotshotting / goading Waxman = bad news
