Hey, he had one of those ankle bracelets, too. Now they know where Kane is all the time! Unless he takes his boots off.

Will he take his boots off?

That's high drama, my friend.

You know what? I agree with all this.

I also was too busy going "OHHHHHHHHHHH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT" during Kane's tombstone to pay attention to where Linda's head actually ended up in relation to the ground. Maybe in this respect, I failed as a fan...but maybe, perhaps the opposite.

The thing about these shows - and this is a longstanding belief of mine so you may have heard all this before, sorry - the thing about these shows is I can actually forgive A LOT of crap as long as I come out of it at the end feeling like I've participated in a Big Deal. Touching an Untouchable (Linda) certainly qualifies, notwithstanding the fact that in the grand scheme of things last night, that actually ended up the icing on a Jericho/Michaels workrate cake.

One thing that got no mention here is that, after the bocthed corner spot by Gail (which we have seen everyone blow a spot, so big deal), I thought that for once, King spent s few seconds explaining why someone might blow a spot by saying something along the lines of "all those high rick manuevers will come back to vite you, Coach" For Lawler, I was impressed he didn't speak about someone's breasts and actually helped out the match.

Of course, a minute or so later when Gail's top came off, all that went out the window

Opening segment was good except for Linda on the mic.

Steven Richards' hat rules. However, they should've mentioned that Heat was going to be on Saturday.

I liked the HHH-Goldberg confrontation. Goldberg was mad over.

Jericho-Michaels was the best TV match in a long time. I liked the sequence with the roll-ups. Looks like Michaels-Orton at Summer Slam.

Why was Lance Storm out in wrestling gear?

The Kane angle continues to rule. His attacks on RVD and Linda were good.

Overall, Raw was very enjoyable.

I'm calling bullshit.

ubermonkeys, its time for you to stop watching the wwe. if you cant enjoy a GREAT 20 minute match on free tv and a strong build up of a character that has been useless for years now, then you are just burned out on wrestling or, more likely, one of those pathetic people who needs to find something to complain about and cant enjoy anything.

You know what? I agree with all this.

So he didn't call me pathetic, but I'm "likely" "one of those pathetic people", etc? There's a difference? I tried just going on with my point and remaining civil about it instead of getting into name calling, which I thought was the right thing to do, but instead I guess I should have gone right back and called him and everybody who thought Jericho/HBK was a good match a fucking moron or something.

With as much as you've seen and read on this board, I think this is pretty sad. I should stop watching WWE because one Raw sucked and I commented on it? That's such bullshit. WWE is not one Raw, it's not all Raws. There are other shows. I watch them. I'm not burned out on it. I don't think Raw is generally great, but it usually has a few highpoints, and to me, this week's didn't have any. So I said so. Hey, here's me BITCHING about how GREAT Spanky vs. Noble was on Velocity a few weeks ago. If you'd like, I can also COMPLAIN about how good Spanky vs. Nunzio the following week was, or tell you how CHRIS FUCKING BENOIT and his BORING ASS had a SUPER match with Matt Hardy last Thursday, and how even the SD main even with Big Show in it was still lightyears better than anything on this Raw. It didn't take any of them 24+ minutes plus and an endless supply of restholds and "we're dead" spots to get there, either. I enjoyed those matches. But none of that matters because I complained tonight about what I thought was a crappy Raw?

Give me a fucking break. An opinion on one show doesn't make up an entire body of thoughts about everything. My complaining about this one show means I'm more likely one of those pathetic people who can't enjoy anything? It was stupid for drivebye to say, and also stupid for you to agree with.

Since everybody has a hardon for Raw (it's as if I insulted your mothers or something), I'll refrain from commenting on it in the future and move right into my own personal opinion on everyone and their posts.

I don't get how it's so good around here at times, and so shitty at others.

That's all me, baby. I, and I alone, am the sole determinant to your - and everyone else's! - enjoyment of this board.

Let me try and rephrase my opinion one more time and then you can tell me I'm a fucking moron or call bullshit for the third time in this thread or whatever.

You know what? If you take this sentence's instances of "you" as "you all in general" or "one" or "a nonspecific person" instead of "you specifically, Ubermonkeys, and I should add that this applies to no one else except Ubermonkeys," then I agree with this.

It is better. When you take out the first sentence of the post where he named me and all, in the first word no less, then yeah, it's better. It's a lot easier to be grouped in with others (assuming they do exist, unless Raw was just that super awesome and I saw a different show) than to be called out by name. It's not fun being Mr. Sensitive. Not being noticed was better. :o\

Raw still sucked. Heat looks good though, if that Mullets thing doesn't make it to air.

I thought this RAW rocked!
I thought when I checked the board and all the reviews on various sites this morning, everyone would have negative crap to say and have forgotten all the greatness of the HBK/Y2J match. I figured everyone would be bitching and moaning. Ohhh that KANE story is so unbelievable and now they've really killed him.
But no it seems as if at least a portion of the internet has come to their senses! I mean really now the man is a MONSTER. He is more over now than he ever has been. The house arrest thing was goofy i admit but well worth seeing KANE IN CHAINS AND SHACKLES!!!
This RAW rocked in so many ways. The Austin/Bishoff thing at the beginning was sort of boring but was a good set up for next week and gave reason for Linda to be around later during the KANE match. Linda was left in charge and only trying to protect her workers only to get TOMBSTONED by KANE!
Y2J vs HBK was great. A 25 minutes wrestlers wrestling match. ON FREE TV??? hell yeah. I guess you do never know what will happen on RAW.
And don't you just know that they have a The Shit gimmick coming up for Rosey?
Also, great openings in the fueds of HHH/Goldberg and Orton/Micheals.
Overall a kick ass RAW that truly made KANE a monster again. I mean who is going to stop him now??
Yep, I think it's Stone Cold too!!!

and thats all i have to say about that!

Then he resigns as GM on the condition that he fights Kane at Summerslam. Then, at Summerslam, after a 10-minute brawl, Kane TOMBSTONES AUSTIN on the floor. The announcers can play up Austin's neck injuries and his original piledriver-induced injury at Summerslam six years ago. Austin gets stretchered away, and Kane is an even bigger heel

Good in theory, but I'm pretty sure Austin's neck is in too bad of a shape to stand up to a match like that. He's shown he can take a bump here & there, but I don't think he could participate in a 10-minute match. And taking a Tombstone on the floor just might lead to Austin getting legit stretchered out.

As for Raw, pretty ho-hum edition. Jericho/HBK was OK at best. Didn't seem like HBK's heart was in the match, IMO.

Booker shouldn't need Test to be distracted by Steiner in order to get the win. I know they're advancing the Test/Steiner feud, but it only served to make Booker look weak. Is this what they brought the IC belt back for? Christian looked weak as champ, and now Booker looks weak.

I think Scott Keith said it best in his Raw Rant: if you like Kane, you'll like the direction Raw is going. I don't like Kane, you do the math. Give me Smackdown over Raw any day of the week.

It's amazing to me that we're almost a month into the new Kane storyline, and not only has the WWF not fucked it up yet, they're actually doing something quite compelling. Remember how we all said Kane was dead as a main eventer without the mask? Right now, we couldn't all have been more wrong. It's obvious to me, though, that the next step is for Linda to give Austin carte blanche in regards to Kane, and then for Austin to book himself against Kane for Summerslam where Austin does the mega-job (and possibly even get tombstoned - if Linda can do it, Austin sure as hell can) in less than five minutes to really get Kane over as a monster.

Plus, the other big plus: Shawnie jobbed clean.

That's all I wanted.

I shook my head in dissapointment when I saw the two Mullet guys sitting in the crowd. I can't believe that WWE has no problem shilling this show, when it's just designed to make fun of wrestling fans as being the stereotype "redneck losers, who have no life, and believe wrestling is real", and how "pro-wrestling is purely a show for those people, as it's not nearly sophisticated enough for anyone not living in a trailer" (apologies to all who live in trailers, as I wasn't trying to joke about you). It pretty much just states that everyone who watches wrestling is a redneck loser, and the WWE goes and promotes that on their shows. For shame.

KANE will face Austin.
I don't think there is anyway to pop a better buy rate for SummerSlam. I think Vince wants to make SummerSlam into a bigger deal seeing as how it's going to probably be at The Skydome in Toronto next year.
And Stone Cold has plenty left in the tank against Rock at Wrestlemania. Who's to say how bad his neck really is. He'll probably be wrestling at Wrestlemania's and SummerSlams for a couple years still.

Well, here I am being the lone wolf, and for once I'm not lone! I loved the show last night. Much of the crap was in one segment (YAY!), then you have three of the hottest guys on RAW in one match (HHH on commentary for Randy v Val), then a great rematch with a great ending (HBK/Y2K), a convincing start to a feud (HHH/Goldberg) I'm not sure about, and something that even I, the all knowing Ringmistress didn't expect (Linda's tombstone and bleeding). Two thumbs up! However, this would most likely mean that Linda won't get to Smackdown to stop the horror of Sable and Vince....CRAP!

Well, even though Smackdown has more tools, that show hasn't used them right lately. Raw has less to work with, but still makes more out of what they have.

Evolution is good, Evolution is great, and their song doesn't need lyrics! HHH immediately made the show a winner by reminding the kids of a very important rule: Don't be like JR, stop, drop and roll. LMAO! Anyway, I'm glad I didn't have a full opinion of the Kane story until now. I hope I don't jinx anything, but this is looking like a winner to me. Now, let's see how Smackdown will top this.............

I'd say very much the opposite.

Hey, we all nitpick, we all complain, myself most definately included. But if you see Linda McMahon take a Tombstone Piledriver--and on free TV, no less--and you're thinking about how well she takes the bump rather than marking out and going "Holy shit, Linda McMahon just took a Tombstone Piledriver", you're not having nearly enough fun.

Wrestlers are expected to take bumps well. Corporate CEOs as a rule are not expected to take bumps at all, so it's quite enough for me that she took it all.

A few thoughts:

For the love of God, please don't give Linda 20 minutes near a mic again.
Considering all the credit Kevin Dunn is given about the great camera work etc., he should take a lot of shit for the timing of the commercial break in the Michaels/Jericho match. I'm trying to remember in the last 20 years when they cut away during an upper card wrestlers finishing manuever.
Coach and Lawler need to go. At least if they had Schiavone as the new announcer, it would have made perfect sense for him to be celebrating JR getting barbecued. And, if they are going to mention JR every 32 seconds, do it during a throw away match, not during the first 10 minutes of Michaels/Jericho.
Onto the match: It wasn't a great match, it was a good match. Seeing Michaels tap shocked me, and it was nice to see Jericho break out the Stan Hansen/Rick Martel AWA Title finish from '85 by using his head on the turnbuckle to increaase the pressure/block movement of the Brazos Valley Backbreaker.
Nice way to make the I-C Title look worthless.
Is anyone still believing that Lance Storm is getting pushed?
All Kane needed when he was being led to the ring was Teddy Long with a giant key in order to complete the Norman the Lunatic look.
The biggest positive of Kane piledriving Linda: It means she won't be on SD this week. Since they flew her out West, I was afraid she'd show up on 2 shows. And, the Tombstone on Linda might end up backfiring, as instead of the intended heel heat for the move, it seemed like that got a giant face pop. What a shock that the fans would like seeing Linda getting whacked.
Can someone explain why Arn Anderson isn't on SD as Chris Benoit's manager yet?

If they're serious about Kane's character development, I suggest a bigger towel, because that doily on his head just doesn't say "monster" to me. He looks more like a bald Italian lady going to church.

I don't see why people are making a stink about the house arrest thing. Here's how I understood it:

JR decides not to press charges. Why would JR do that? I dunno, we can only speculate but I'm sure he'll address it later. Meanwhile Kane is under house arrest. Regardless of what JR wants, it's still illegal to burn someone, so I guess they have Kane under house arrest while they decide what to charge him with. Kind of like how those guys waited for a while to decide what to do with Kobe. Now Linda explained that even though he's under house arrest it doesn't mean he can't make a living. I'm no legal expert and neither are the majority of the fans. So I interpret this as if someone is under house arrest then they are allowed to leave the house to go to their job as long as they are monitored by police and when their job is done they go right back home. It makes complete sense to me.

Kane in the chains was great. I loved how his music kept playing as the cops slowly took their turns in removing the locks. None of them wanted to be too close to him for too long. I like how they pointed out the electronic bracelet on Kane's leg. I hope in a couple weeks we go backstage and see some cops laying out unconscious and sitting on the table is the ankle bracelet! MY GOD! Kane is loose! A close up camera shot of the bracelet as they cut to commercial while Coach/King freak out would be pretty cool.

And I don't give a crap about Linda's head being far from the floor for the Tombstone. You can talk about "exposing" the business blah blah blah smarky smark smarkity smark all you want. When he grabbed her for the chokeslam I was like "well someone will rescue her, it's LINDA McMAHON". I was expecting Austin, but RVD made the save. Then when he had her up for the Tombstone I was like no freakin way. Sure, I could see her head was protected but there was just no way in hell Linda Freakin McMahon is going to get Tombstoned. I was sure Austin would come out; I knew we'd hear the breaking glass. Then he Tombstoned her! HOLY FREAKIN SHIT!!! I marked out like mad for that. Linda McMahon never gets touched and KANE TOMBSTONED HER!!! Kane is awesome and on the warpath. Some people ask who can stop Kane? I hope no one does.

'But if one is struck by me only a little, that is far different, the stroke is a sharp thing and suddenly lays him lifeless, and that man's wife goes with cheeks torn in lamentation, and his children are fatherless, while he, staining the soil with his red blood, rots away, and there are more birds than women swarming about him.' Raw was decent in my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. The show was pretty good up until the Storm segment.

Women's Match - Kim gets exposed as a hack wrestler for another straight week. The "chick" kick to Kim at the end looked pretty vicious.

Kane - Ok, so he's under house arrest. He shows up in shackles with cops, wearing his wrestling attire. So, does he just sit at home all week wearing his whole chains and buckles get up before he comes to work one day a week?

Evolution - I'm really, really starting to like Triple H again. Lord, help me.

Jericho/Michaels - It was a solid match but I just wasn't feeling it. To me it just seemed anti-climactic after the WM match and it didn't help that the crowd was dead through the entire thing.

Storm - Now they're really destroying any chance Lance has of getting over. At first I was giving the whole "Boring" deal a chance because he could've gotten over with it. Instead, he's gone from being called "boring" to being portrayed as a useless character you don't need to watch. He starts his prepared statement shtick, pointing out Robby in the crowd, and they cut away to Kane arriving. Either keep the segments separate or cut out Storm completely. Storm just ended up looking like an even bigger load of nothing than he is now.

Kane/RVD - Meh. RVD looked like a puss. I did like the Linda Tombstone and AA's lines at the end. Any segment that gets AA tv time is A-OK in my book.
