      Just saying, is all....

I agree. Why can't we ever see things from a mark perspective and enjoy it? Most of what I've been hearing is: "Kane set JR on fire. That's stupid." I see: "HOLY SHIT! Kane set JR on fire! What a monster! It's all your fault, Austin, you big, bald-headed meanie!" If we all see things the way casual fans see it, maybe RAW could be an enjoyable show again.

(Of course, by saying this, I by no means condone the enjoyment of TRULY stupid storylines, such as the Katie Vick saga.)

The problem to me is that anyone who watches wrestling, regardless of how deep they analyze it, will eventually realize on an intuitive level that there are certain guidelines and barriers. Otherwise any mark with his salt should be able to say in any hardcore match "well why doesn't someone just bring a shotgun to the ring and shoot his opponent?" An organically created set of rules and behaviors has grown to exist which governs the pretend wrestling world, and one of the things that is a major underpinning of that is the use of what I would call "acceptable wrestling violence." Chairs, sledgehammers, chains, tables, belts, 2x4s, all those sorts of things seem to fit comfortably in the wrestling world. However, any time something gets introduced that doesn't fit into that ambiguous yet instinctually recognizable set of items/behaviors will immediately stick out like a sore thumb and generally cause the viewers of all stripes to have a negative reaction to the whole thing. Think about any of the angles involving hit and runs with vehicles, or the Austin/Pillman gun thing, the Austin dropping HHH out of the crane, the "let's embalm Austin" angle, the NWO crushing Rock in an ambulance. These tend to leave the audience perplexed about how to respond, and I believe you're likely to see the same thing happen here. The fact that even a mark who never reads the net is likely capable of saying "that wasn't JR!" can only further damage the angle.

You Sir, are not alone. I like Coach, and I'm glad that JR is toasted(storyline wise). I get sick of the "scalded dog" talk, and all that other crap. JR needs to call matches like he use to, and come up with some new lines that we haven't heard over and over.

Bisch and Y2j are freakin' awesome as heels, I tend to smile whenever one of them pops up on screen.

Test, as many of you have stated, was on the ball with the Dickish-Heel gimmick. I hated, no, I really hated Test a few years ago. Now Test fits into the enjoyable category(though, he still looks like a weasel).

Steven Richards getting some Raw time, nice! To bad he went down in flames to Big Daddy Peg Leg.

I like Gail Kim. Some of you need to give her more time, I mean going out in front of Fifteen-Thousand people to wrestle isn't all that easy. There is a different feel between the Indy leageus/OVW and Raw. The WWE should have maybe started her off on Heat, but I think she'll be very good in time.

I do find the new Kane angle intriguing, and want to know more. I thought of the Sting vs. Vampiro angle as soon as the fire was set(and today I know why).

I have the same trouble with Austin, as the Heels in the storyline do. Why is a cripple beating up the shows #2 heel? Austin can still rule it on the mic, however he should fix his damn neck and comeback or stop trying to wrestle!

-Hilite Reel- Jericho got out the line of the night early when he said "obscenely expensive Jeritron 5000". Nice way to start out the show

-Nash/Steiner/Trish vs. Richards/Test/Victoria- Did Trish do all the bumping on the babyface side. Victoria did a suplex which I thought she didn't have a good grip but it turned out to be a neato slingshot suplex!(nice). Trish running full speed into Test and taking the exaggerated back bump. Test almost missed his "pull trish down on the top rope spot". Test looked extra sleazy (but beating on two popular women is as shortcut to heel heat as you can get). It was actually a pretty fun match. But is the feud Test & Nash or Test & Steiner?... It was cute/funny seeing little Trish with very tall Nash, leggy tall Stacy, and jacked up Steiner. Trish was selling her shoulder pretty good after the match (I hope it's selling, she's good at not dropping injury after the bell), Stacy went up to her and gave her a hug Awwww. Trish is like a hugs magnet for divas, Ivory last month now Stacy LoL

-Maven vs. Storm- What on earth was this. It started off with a poke to Storms eye and Storm sold it while Maven waited for Storm to come back to the attack, just went down hill from there. Bad hiptoss (I guess a boring chant is better then a You Fed Up chant). Scary looking throw over the ropes Lance took, it looked totally out of control. just a total mess... Ohh and the boring chants bring as much to a match as a puppies match does to a well performed woman's match. But I hate to admit I did kind of chuckle when King said "Coach" What "This match is kind of boring" during a chinlock.

-La Resistance/Dudleyz encounter- What was this all about? Odd segment. They sing then Dudleys sing, D-von has a decent voice! I think La Resistance had help of a voice over.

-Evolution vs. Dudleyz 3- I am digging the Evolution big time. This was very entertaining and even though the Dudleyz got swept it was a lot of fun. Flair is fantastic, him picking on and taking such a cheapshot on Spike early on had me rolling. Flair was just on tonight, was complete heel-jerk mode, running around causing trouble, stepping on Spike's head. Flair gave an MVP effort. Bubba looked really good too, he broke out the Bubba tackle we haven't seen back in the early days of the split when he was a single... The match felt very physical with a couple of times I thought Orton and HHH were legit injured. Match of the night even with the sweep everyone was on, especially Flair and the Dudleys

-Rodney vs. Rosey - This sucked, Belee Dat. Why stick in your 2003 Breakout Star in this feud(courtesy WWE mag on Hurricane). Still can't believe they WASTED the white boy challenge win on Goldberg. ERRRRRRRRR

-Booker vs. Christian- The match was okay not as great as last weeks match (hotter crowd, more emotion). Probably second best match of the night.

-Gail vs. Molly- Molly once again shows how fantastic she is, she didn't just carry the match but also showed as much emotion as possible to try to get heat on the match. As for Gail like I said last week, she's pretty crisp with her offense and showed she's okay. There just seems to be little intensity in her moveset. The thing I dug about the Raw women was that they had nice intense matches, it seems a lot more real. Gails reverses a move with a flipping armdrag and gets control (I guess that's the lucha style). I guess I'm saying Gail has good skills but doesn't seem to be high on the psychology or working a match, but it's still soon and like i said it seems like she's got the skill. But she shouldn't be champion... It would help if we know more about the girl then just that she's Asian-Canadian and does flipping armdrags.

-Kane's BBQ- When I saw this interview was going to take place the first thing that crossed my mind was the fantastic Mankind/ JR interview early in Foley's WWE career. Well this certainly wasn't on that level. I didn't like it being in the main event spot(I did like it last week) but I guess they wanted to leave the "Will Austin get Fired" cliffhanger.

-other stuff- Jericho was all over backstage getting signatures.

Line of the night: Jericho "obscenely expensive Jeritron 5000"
Sign of the Night: Picture of Goldberg saying "I Don't Job"
3Stars of the Night : 1)Flair, 2)Molly, 3)Victoria - edging out Trish and Bubba cause of the super cool slingshot suplex she broke out.

The first hour was fantastic, The 6man elimination was really great IMO. Best I've seen Evolution as a team so far & the Duds looked great as well. The mixed tag was good. I could watch Trish/Victoria any day of the week, they just have that something that mix so well together, they work together for along time and I still find them interesting (slingshot suplex! very nice), the highlight reel was a fun way to start the show, The only thing I didn't like in the first hour was Storm/Maven sloppy fest. Second hour not as good but still decent, okay matches in the IC and Women Title match. But Rosey and Rodney is just pointless... Shocked HBK wasn't even in the house, I thought we were going to see HBK/Nash vs. Test/Jericho to build for next week, if you want you can even add Trish to the face team and Victoria to the heel team to play on what happened last week

Wow, first time postin'...

Why are they letting Coach on the mic?

Question 2, wasn't it a couple of years ago, nobody liked Tony Schiavone, but now people want him back?

I say, sign him, he could bring a nice dynamic to raw.

I understand what your saying, and your mostly right.

But when a guy gets hit with a fist, he recoils a bit or falls down. When he is hit with a metal chair, you hear the loud thud, he goes down and there is sometimes blood. Triple H hits a guy with a sledge hammer and he is immediately knocked out. Referee has his back turned while a wrestler gives his opponent a crotch-shot or hits him with a title belt........all these situations I can accept and make myself believe.

But when a man is soaked in gasoline and ignited, and there is just a little flame on his body ? A man is burnng, and he just lies almost practically still as he is burning and screaming ?

Now I would accept this whole scenario if I was watching it in my childs junior high or high school play, but this scene was put on by a multi-million dollar corporation.

I'm just saying that a little more effort and thought should of been put into this scene than there was.

Well, it's the same thing if I go see Charlie's Angels 2 and it's bad, I don't tell people "It could have been better, I see what they were trying to do". I say "It sucked".

My opinion of the 'J.R. on fire' segment is the same. If they had done it better in the first place, the burden wouldn't be on me to say that it had a positive side. This wasn't a live match where a hiptoss gets screwed up and you can let it go because they only had one shot. This is something they taped in advance, probably practiced and did a couple times to get it right, watched afterwards, and said "This is great! Air this now! People will think this is great!"

Missed the first half-hour, and it's a pity I had to miss Jericho and Big Stevie Cool, though missing Trish is a good thing (marked out like crazy when Molly pinned her two matches in a row).

Let me agree that the La Resistance interference, especially with the insult to the national anthem on their FRIKKIN' INDEPENDENCE DAY. As soon as I heard Bubba say "United States", I ran to Starz and watched Lord of the Rings for a few minutes. The Dudleyz just dropped a huge notch in my book, but the "patriots" in the crowd no doubt loved it. It was great not hearing that fat idiot JR blabberin' about how "real men don't wear berets". Ever hear of the Green Berets, crispy? Don't mind Coach, he's bland, but not actively offensive like JR is to me these days.

Evolution steamrolls the Dudleyz. Wish I could say I was surprised.

Rodney/Rosie: Chose this time to mute it and finish a book I was reading. Two skipped segments on one show is pretty bad for me.

Booker/Christian: So are we going to keep doing this every week until the fans start chanting "boring?" I agree, these two don't have very much chemistry for some reason, it's time to move the two of them on.

Molly/Gail Kim: What IS GK's gimmick, anyway? The promos (and the lines of code in her video) suggest a Matrix-type thing, but with her not having said a word yet, nobody knows. Molly looked damn fine tonight, DAMN fine.

Kane sets JR on fire. Sweet. He should've done more than just twitch his fat ass around though. Guess it would've made the flame suit/stunt double thing even more obvious, but damn. I do like the angle they're taking with Kane's lack of scars, though there's a few continuity problems with this (i.e., JR and King's "what the hell is THAT?" and Austin being unable to look him in the eye). Ah, well. Now we just need to wish the Katie Vick angle out of existance and all will be kosher with Kane. Besides, he wrestles RVD next week. I hope he eventually puts the mask back on, though.

Oh, and I hope they find something different for Austin to do. Coming out and smacking around random heels isn't exactly exciting, seeing as how he's been doing it since his FIRST neck injury.

I'm in the "don't mind him, & he's not annoying like JR often is" camp. He mostly did fine. There were a couple of times when he seemed a little lost, or when Lawler hung him out there & he didn't know how to respond. But overall, letting him take over for JR for a while will be a good thing.

Ditto. I don't understand all the haterizing towards the Coach. RAW needs to to move to the future and leave JR (and the King) in the pasture.

I find the Coach to be fresh and funny. Although the King doesn't seem to help Coach much due to cutting in with 1998 commentary at inopportune times.

Coach is a lot looser and funnier on Heat whether it be with Raven,D-Lo,Lita,or Al Snow. They should let him be that guy and roll with it. His old Fanatix partner, Mick Foley, could make the perfect color man. They had good chemistry together. Plus, the addition of Foley (after his little comeback stint) would help people forget about JR and King.

Some Coach Quotes that are 10 trillion times more enjoyable than farm animal references:
"Classic Comeback"
"Hit him where the sun don't even think about shining"
"D-d-d-d-d-dudley dog"
"Dare I say he's on Fi-err"

The last one would have made me cry laughing if said during the Kane-JR interview (I almost did as is). Hey, we all knew JR was gonna get killed when Bisch announced he would be interviewing Kane (just as Mankind did), but I still found it hilarious.

"Fry you son of a bitch, fry!"
Gotta say, Kane has great facials and is a good speaker in this new role. Pretty good for a guy stuck under a mask since 97 that barely spoke for a good portion of those years.

Well, i've given up on Smackdown, but i'm starting to like RAW, i just hope Austin stays. I'm hoping he stays or mabye starts wrestling again. I want soo bad for there to be a new champion, but since they're trying to have Evoloution to take off, its not gunna happen. I wanna see Kane not be beaten by anyone and have Eric Bitch*coff and Steve Austin ask Undertaker to come over and kick the hell outta Kane. And at the same time have Evoloution start to argue cuz they all want the title, And then there will b Kane, Stone Cold, RVD, HHH, Ric Flair and Randy Orton in a Battle Royal for the title, with Kane and Steve being the last two, after they had just become friends because he realized that Stone Cold was just trying to help. And they will brutaly beat the living shit outta eachother untill Kane finaly wins and then shows good sportsman ship so we will finaly have a face champion on RAW. (other than Booker T) sound good to anyone else? too bad it wont happen. And going back, wayyy back, to the Kane/Undertaker resembelence, I said they looked alike almost a month ago!!! lol

#16 Posted on 24.6.03 0420.11
Is HHH gunna b the champ forever? it seems like it. Hell, its been so long i dont even remember who he beat for it, oh wait thats right, he didn't beat anyone for it. Oh, and is it just me, or does Kane look like Undertaker? I always knew that they wernt actually brothers (for the parents sake) but i think they look somewhat alike.

Oh, and did anyone else like Austins shirt? Fuck Fear, drink beer? I think Goldberg should have like the same, but have it say somethin like F*ck Fear, Get the Spear. And Lance Storm could have F*ck Fear, please cheer! And Mike Tyson could have F*ck Fear, Ill bite ur ear!

Ok, that last one was off base a lil, but still.

I didn't think this was a bad show, not great, but not bad...The opening Bischoff-Jericho segment I liked....The six-person match wasn't too bad, can't believe Nash still gets pretty good pops. I almost feel sorry for him for some reason...Maven v.s Storm seemed like it went on FOREVER. I think the crowd started chanting "boring", but they're timing wasn't right, so it was hard to tell...La Resistance/Dudleyz was nice, but this kinda alienates fans not living in the U.S...the Evolution/Dudleyz match was decent. Always a treat to see Flair wrestle...Gail v.s Molly was good, but EVERY woman can do a hurricarana- let's move on ladies...The Kane/JR segment was okay, and I'm intrigued about this new Kane storyline twist.

I could watch Lance Storm come out and read a prepared statement forever and ever. I don't know why, but it absolutely cracks me up.

I was really enjoying Coach announcing. JR and the King really need to go. They just aren't relevant anymore and have nothing to add to the show.

Some friends who were in the neighborhood popped by during the end of RAW. They gave my beau and I the usual flack about watching wrestling, but sat down and half-watched with us for the rest of the show. The seemed unimpressed with the show until Kane set JR on fire. They were cracking up, they loved it! They proclaimed wrestling awesome. As seriously as some people take it, wrestling really is at heart about the ridiculousness of it all. I think they need to go back to embracing that. I'm not talking about going back to Katie Vick style stupidity, but a little more over-the-top moments are what will make non-wrestling fans take notice.
