-Highlight reel was awesome, and Jericho was excellent throughout the night, first in that segment, and then with the petition.
-The Test match was great as Test is really starting to play the heel well. And it wasnt just Victoria and Trish carrying the match, Test had a lot to do with it as well.
-Storm and Maven was sloppy, but Storm really seems to know how to get the crowd into his new "boring" gimmick.
-The Dudelys should never, ever, ever sing again
-How do I become a member of Playas Incorporated?
-I would have liked to have seen one member of evolution get pinned, but hey they worked the match well together, so no complaints
-I am wondering what they are leading to at Summerslam with Booker and Christian, maybe a no DQ, or falls count anywhere?
-Gail needs a little more experience, but she had an OK match with Molly
-The interview was good. The writers could really go one way with Kane's apperance and they chose the right way...finally. The JR fire was laughable.
-I thought it was a pretty good show overall, with some continued character development, which is good.

A few thoughts:

In the next cookbook, perhaps there will be a section on how to marinate a sucking Oklahoma pig.
If this means Ross is going to disappear for a while, now is the perfect opportunity to import Schiavone (and hell, let David Crockett show up for color). Coachman must go.
I was slightly disappointed that Jericho started a petition campaign. I was hoping for him to quote an appendix from the 1935 NWA rulebook that dealt with the situation of a GM attacking the talent.
Most distressing part of the Booker/Christian Dusty finish: Not another Nick Patrick is an evil ref angle.
Hopefully, the Disappointment's yeast infection keeps him off TV until his contract expires.
If jobbing to a member of the Tough Enough Bunch is part of getting a push, I'd hate to see what would happen if Lance Storm was being punished.
Steiner and Nash stuck in intergender tag matches involving Stevie Richards? My, how the mighty have fallen.
And of course, when Kane brought out the package, I was hoping perhaps he remembered his roots as the Unibomber(until Lawler said the ticking comment).

I'm impressed how much Kane actually looks like he could be the Undertaker's brother-there are some good facial similarities there. And that one producer who was asking JR how he was feeling beforehand looked into JR's eyes like he wanted to make out with him.

Kane's character has really been fucked with badly.

So, Undertaker burned down their house as a child, with Kane inside. Kane was burned. However, his scars healed quickly, but Kane (because of so many emotional problems) still believed his face was fried. So, I guess Paul Bearer left him thinking he was like this so as to extract revenge on Undertaker when the time was right (which ended up being 1997). Now, Kane is unmasked, and still thinks he is a burnt mess, and people are making fun of him for it, although he looks fine and people like him for who he is?

Okay, not TOO bad. But, one question:

In the middle of all this, when the fuck did he find time to have a girlfriend, train to wrestle, learn to drive a stick shift, go to parties with other people and get drunk, accidentaly kill the girl, and then have sex with her dead body?

Fuck, that necrophilia angle killed Kane deader than this unmasking thing could ever dream of doing.

EDIT: A couple of side notes:

One: I LOVE Booker T and I LOVE Christian. But, the two of them have absolutley NO chemistry in the ring. So, please stop shoving their matches down my throat.

Two: Couldn't we at least wait until SummerSlam before Kane kills RVD dead? If your gonna' squash the poor guy, at least make people pay for it.

I was totally loving the Kane interview, even cheering "light him up!!" before he set fire to JR. The stunt double was pretty cheesy though, and I don't know about you, but if someone set my back on fire I'd be hopping around like Zack Gowan, not twitching and doing half-pushups. JR couldn't even remember STOP, DROP, and ROLL? He was already stopped and dropped by Kane, all he had to do was roll. Damn JR is stoopit.

But I love how they explain Kane's lack of scars. To me Kane is way more interesting as this total insane nut job, OK on the outside, but hideously scarred on the inside. Just like Harvey Dent in Dark Knight Returns. It was awesome how the Doctors "lied" to Kane so he "had to hurt them". Paul Bearer must have really screwed with his head.

I guess Eric Bischoff watched Planet of the Apes this past weekend. I was cracking up as he was channeling Charlton Heston: "Damn you Austin! Damn you straight to helllllllll!!!!"

On a side note, why is it that most everyone around here rags on Stephanie for being "fat" and then in the same breath says how "hot" Molly is? Molly is way bigger than Stephanie.

'But if one is struck by me only a little, that is far different, the stroke is a sharp thing and suddenly lays him lifeless, and that man's wife goes with cheeks torn in lamentation, and his children are fatherless, while he, staining the soil with his red blood, rots away, and there are more birds than women swarming about him.' For my money, Molly is just plain hotter than Steph. Molly has a regular person look, while Steph has a manufactured plastic look. That looks isn't always bad, but Steph has it to an insane degree.

Watch a clip of Steph back in 1999 when she was first used on camera. She just looked like a cute girl. Now she looks like some butch plastic woman with insanely big breasts. Not exactly a turn-on.

Personally, I don't think either of them are really fat or anything, though.

You know, I usually come on here and be annoyingly hyper or overshilling or just high and mighty (you're nodding, aren't you?), but not today. I'm dealing with some serious issues personally, so I'll be low key. It's nothing tragic, but it's a concern that I take seriously. But I can't leave you guys hanging without my opinions of Raw last night...

The truth is I wasn't into the show like I usually am because of the issues I have at home. But, I have to admit, that Jericho is doing his thing, and doing it right. Hell, I was happy to see the whole Evolution again. Not much else in the way of highlights, uh, Bubba should not try to hit notes that are out of his reach. Molly and Gail got no hype for their women's match, which is a shame in a way because since theirs was the last match on Raw, you'd expect some buildup. None. But, at least I can say I didn't take the women for granted.... The Kane interview was creepy, but in the mood I was in, seeing hall of fame announcers on fire screaming (stunt or not) isn't really how I'd end a stressful day, if you know what I mean. I'm stoked for next week (Y2J/HBK II!!), and hopefully, things on my end will be worked out as well.

Molly isn't using a heroic amount of intricately placed spandex/girdle in her ring attire, either.

Raw was good. Evolution vs. Dudleys was good, The Kane interview was neat. I'm actually anticipating what will happen next Monday, and I haven't felt that way in a LONG time.

All it does is make them look bad since they apparently can't defend themselves against a retired wrestler with a bum neck. And the Dusty Finish in Booker T/Christian was totally unnecessary, an ugly growth on an otherwise good match.

Great! They got you exactly where they want you to be, Shem..
You too think that Austin is a liability and not dong his duties well. Ofcourse being on the smart-ish side you notice he is going over true wrestlers. But looking at it from the average fan p.o.v. you could say the man is dishing out stuff left and right for now reason with no control. Whaddayamean nice set up for what is gonna happen?

If the point of the angle is supposed to be "Austin is genuinely out of control," then I'd expect to see faces lining up against Austin as well. But since it's Jericho, Bischoff, and company leading the drive to get him out, the angle seems to be more about the heels hating Austin because he won't tolerate heelish behavior. If the "average fan" thinks Austin is losing it, why was the crowd last night booing Bischoff for calling Linda on him? Do you really think they thought he was out of control when he stunnered Christian and Jericho -- or do you think they thought the heels deserved it for thinking they could mouth off to Stone Cold Steve Austin and get away with it? Judging from the pops the stunners got, I'm saying the latter.

This is why Austin is a poor choice for the GM role, incidentally. When we've had face commissioners in the past -- Michaels, Foley, and briefly Regal -- they could get back at misbehaving heels by booking matches for them. But Austin's character is such that it doesn't make sense for him to work indirectly -- when someone pisses him off, he beats them up; he doesn't send someone else to beat them up. Works when he's a wrestler, doesn't work when he's a GM.

I could be wrong, of course. Maybe Linda will actually fire Austin next week. But from where I sit, it's much more likely that Bischoff's ploy will backfire on him, if only because Bischoff's ploys -always- backfire on him. Probably Linda will put Austin in full control of Raw and demote Bischoff to his flunky, or something.

The tinkering with Kane's character is no worse than anything your average soap opera tries to pull off. People have babies that advance to teenagers within the span of a week. I think on one soap they had a kid go upstairs and the next time he appeared he was a full-grown adult.

I actually give the writers a bit of credit for trying with the Kane character. What other character has existed for 6 years and is still going strong(-ish)? I even think this is being handled better than the Undertaker, who for 9 years was, well, dead, and then all of a sudden he was a biker.

Hearing Shem bring up Regal's name reminded me of something. You'll recall that they were trying to come up with a way of putting Regal back on tv in a non-wrestling role until he's off the blood thinners. I remember hearing a while back that they were thinking about bringing in Regal as a mediator between Austin and Bishof. After the events of this week, I'm almost certain that Regal will be making his comeback next week.

I've never been the biggest Austin fan in the world, but I find the way he's being used now plain irritating, and not for the right reasons. It strikes me that it would be infinitely more sensible to save the stunner for rare occassions so that it provided a real mark out moment for the fans.

Instead we get the same ols, same old from when he was active of him stunnering half the roster, their immediate family, and any pets that have the misfortune to be around every week. I'm not usually one to go for the whole "X is stealing Y's heat" smarky stuff but I really cant understand how having Austin beat up everyone from the tag champs to the #2 heel on the show is beneficial to the show as a whole.

Th out of control Austin character could easily have been achieved through a slow corruption of his character by the power he found himself wielding as co-GM. But instead we're 'treated' to KICKWHAMSTUNNER ad infinitum and expected to be as gripped as ever. Pffft.

It was another blah Raw. Sure, on JR sounds like a good thing, but executed its more comical than horrorific. I hate to break to people, but watching tonight's show proved to me there is no top face on this show to be honest minus Booker T there is no real threat face anywhere. If Austin is their top face, so be it. People bitch about the Dusty finishes, I like them a hell of lot better than the usual Eric comes down to screw the faces which had been going for almost nine months. The show screams for some direction in the main event. The Kane storyline is intriguing, but to have Austin throw out or worse, but Regal in as commissioner it will lead to more non-wrestlers getting into to many slots on Raw.

The way Jericho has been of late he might as well, be a non-wrestler. I think last Monday was the end of my Y2J fandom for awhile. If he had just gone face, they would have had a strong face, but instead I get whinny Jericho something I have tolerated for the last two years now and it has lead to not much. I think Raw and Smackdown need another trade, because even with Zach/Vince/Steph/Sable I still get some good matchs and decent stuff.

It really does upset me that they seem to have forgotten that they provided a reason on screen why Austin is GM and not an active wrestler. They said, hell, he said, that his neck was crap and that he could be crippled if he wrestles again. Why has no one (Jericho, I'm looking in your direction) brought this up? Why hasn't a heel come along and said, "Go ahead Austin, attack me. You might beat me up pretty bad, but if I hit you just once, you'll never walk again." That would give the Austin character some real impetus to do things, be it making RAW the best show ever by putting all of his energies into it, or by becoming a heel because he can't wrestle anymore and it's driven him mad. Either way, it's the best motivation they can possibly give his character, and they just ignore it and have him wail on main-event calibre active wrestlers. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

"I don't know. They are trying to be serious about the Kane storyline, but when they set JR on fire, I felt really embarrassed to be watching, and I was by myself. Unintentional cheese isn't good."

So we accept guys whaling on each other constantly with no facial contusions, using chairs, tables and sledgehammers and getting only to get back up and fight the next day and the referee ALWAYS having his back turned, but when a guy with a supposed nasty history with fire whips out the gasoline and gets to toastin' it's stupid?

I agree. Why can't we ever see things from a mark perspective and enjoy it? Most of what I've been hearing is: "Kane set JR on fire. That's stupid." I see: "HOLY SHIT! Kane set JR on fire! What a monster! It's all your fault, Austin, you big, bald-headed meanie!" If we all see things the way casual fans see it, maybe RAW could be an enjoyable show again.

(Of course, by saying this, I by no means condone the enjoyment of TRULY stupid storylines, such as the Katie Vick saga.)

... And it's the "Hey, why can't you just enjoy the show like the marks do, you cynical smark!" argument, making its long-awaited return to the Weinerboard. A big hand for it, everyone!

Seriously though. There's a difference between not buying an -angle- and not buying the -execution- of said angle. Kane setting J.R. on fire to turn heel? Cool. I have no problem with that. But that doesn't make the dummy or stuntman or whatever it was look any less contrived.

You're right, oldschoolhero. There is a level of disbelief that must be suspended in wrestling. I just feel like a guy getting up from being hurled through a table is a little more believable than JR getting set on fire and not doing the "Stop, drop and roll" counter for it

Seriously, good point you made.
