When he's back 'for real' and not an Outsider, they need to sell tonnes of a t-shirt with the upsidedown WWE logo to make an "M" - I dont know if they did it before but they better now
I'm also hoping a few of the cut wrestlers, like Shannon Moore and Charlie Haas, are actually part of an angle. Imagine Matt Hardy leading a group of 'fired' wrestlers, getting revenge? Thats one way to get the upper hand.
anyways, the rest of the show:
When certain wrestlers come out, like Angle and Flair, me and my roommate have put together lyrics to go with their music. We had one for Batista but it got ruined when they switched his music and got rid of the guitar solo that drives it. So we're working on one for Chris Masters about how much he sucks. Because he still sucks, and more than anything I hate the way he comes to the ring with his boneheaded "YEAH!"
I really bought that Stryker was gonna make it. I had no idea about the real life story though. That logo on his ass is great now that I know the real story. At first I was thinking it was a Dean Douglas tribute. But he looked really lame that he couldnt take the pain of the anglelock for one second to win. he just let Angle grab him, such a weak finish.
The Michaels interview was underwhelming and was completely overshadowed by Hardy. I can have no problem with a less clear cut explanation, and I'm glad he's not being Jackass Shawn, but I expected more out of it.
and the Boogeyman. I'm actually looking forward to him, just because this is one case where I'm willing to buy into the look, at least for now. For those who dont know its Marty Wright, the humunkuloid black dude from Tough Enough that wore that freaky face makeup. You got a problem with the name? A humunkuloid scary black dude like him can call himself WHATEVER HE WANTS. You could call him 'twinkles' and I'd still buy him as a monster. I hope when and I do mean WHEN he shows himself as Nathan Jones level bad in the ring they commit to him as a bodyguard. I actually picture him with Christian. He's so different and such a bad fit, that it goes all the way back to him being a perfect fit.
I missed a few minutes of the show during Diva Search and Shelton/Carlito b/c I'm Canadian and was watching Bromwell High on teletoon. Did I miss anything else in between? Kerwin White?
The Chris Masters match and Diva Search segment weren't too bad this week, really. They've apparently worked all the kinks out so we don't have a train wreck of a segment every week, and Masters/Tajiri was fun to watch too.
They should get a fancy graphic for the Masterlock Challenge.
Yeah, it was a pretty solidly entertaining episode of Raw. Go Matt go!
So many mixed signals with the Matt Hardy thing...this is already the best angle going right now, and is really gonna upstage the HBK/Hogan angle, which has gotta suck for the egos of Hogan and Michaels. I'm already ready for next week's Raw...hurry up week....GO GO GO!!

I agree with this. Why would they work us the whole time? If they did, it's been the best work of the IWC ever. But to what end? So a percentage of the fanbase could be entertained by some gossip between mid-card wrestlers? Edge was being groomed for a title match... so at one point they decided to faux fire Matt and cook up a dynamite adultery angle?

Because Matt Hardy coming back was the last thing ANYONE ever expected.

I liked the Y2J-Carlito arguing over the talk show situation on Raw. That was kind of inevitable, and both guys work the mic so well that it was really solid stuff. They did a good job making sure that neither guy had to be the face as they were both just hilarious assholes. And it's great to see Piper back. He was big before my time, but seeing him tonight and watching the Best of the 80's DVD, I have a newfound appreciation of his work, moreso than when he was working in WCW.
Gene Snitsky = foot fetishist? Awesome. Disgusting, but awesome.
Shelton Benjamin and Carlito had a good little match. I was definitely into Shelton's near falls. The finish was a good way to keep Benjamin strong while Carlito got to retain the title. Shelton is quickly becoming my favorite wrestler, and I hope that they have plans to push him to the top in the next few months.
Chris Masters and Tajiri had a damn fine TV match. I don't get why people are hating on Masters. He's only had two "real" matches (against Tajiri and Venis), and both were pretty solid little matches. Masters has potential even though he isn't ready for a top spot now or in the near future.
Cena's promo tonight was really bad. I've thought since he went to Raw that he's improved tremendously, but this was a huge step back for him. Y2J did a good job playing to his new character, and I'm glad to see that he's going to be in a title match at the WWE's second biggest PPV of the year. he deserves another main event run.
Piper's Pit was quite good. Like I said before, Piper did a pretty damned good job, and Michaels' new character is interesting. I might have preferred that he becomes an asshole like he was in the DX days, but I can see that they're leaving an opening (maybe) for him to go back to being a face after the Hogan match.
Kurt Angle vs Matt Striker was a good little match for what it was. I thought that he had a chance to survive, and that would have been one of the great "upsets" in wrestling history. Of course he didn't, but it was still a nice tease.
Don't have much to say about Matt Hardy besides that it was pretty awesome. I just wonder how long they've been working everyone. I doubt from the beginning, but over the last week or so even Meltzer was saying that Hardy wasn't going back to WWE and that he was probably going to wind up in TNA. So that was a nice surprise. The last few weeks has had the unpredictability that has been missing for as long as I can remember. Good to see it return.
CRZ, was it not you who used to make me repeat "if its on TV, its a work"
I'm happy about it, and enjoyed the way they pulled it off.
All in all, a fun RAW. The Diva crapfest went on way too long, especially the first one whose talent was to monkey-flip Christy Hemme - way to no sell it Christy, get up and hug her afterwards and don't miss a beat.
Piper didn't seem to be on his game tonight - he sounded choked up or something.
So it looks to me like OVW got stuck with bringing in Martin Wright as the character he was going to be doing in WWE and tried to work with it the best they could while the audience was screaming at Wright about how much he sucked on OVW last week. I'm curious to see what they do with him, as he's never even had a dark match in OVW.
The whole Angle bit with Striker was gold. "Hey, you're that teacher that got fired for lying!"
I readily admit it about Matt - I got worked. But it's the good type of being worked, like when someone jumps out of the dark at one of those haunted houses you see at Halloween time. You're happy to get thrown.
Nice one by Matt at mentioning ROH, although I couldn't quite make it out.
Wait. Hasn't Jim Cornette done more than one ROH show over the years?
Isn't there about 15 other recent WWE wrestlers (some who are even doing interviews with WWE.com about their releases) that would like to tell WWE to "kiss my ass"?
Eh. I'm over-reaching, but it's a fun idea to think about.
I think the one thing that leads me to think it was a shoot turned into a work is that interview a while back with Edge's wife talking about the steroids Edge and Lita supposedly use. That's not something you do as a gag when setting up a storyline.
2 hour wrestling show, almost three matches.. Is there something wrong with this picture or what? Why call it wrestling. Just announce the WWE soap opera- talk show from now on.
It'a just plain bad when the best wrestling of the night is Benjamin and Carlitto.
So Matt hardy is arrested and hauled off. Guess we will see how much he really hates Edge and Lita if he has a match with Edge. Seems to me if he really hates the man he would just wait until they get outside and jump him. It's all scripted if he comes back nex week, which I am sure he will.
Maybe next week we will have a wrestling show??? not putting alot of hope on it though.
Originally posted by CRZListen - let's make it easy. Just start your post with "I was worked - and I LOVED it" or none of us can possibly take you seriously.
Loved what? Being worked or the angle? Because both were big giant wastes of time. Matt couldn't pull off the worked shoot to save his life. Am I supposed to believe he shoot calls the love of his life by her wrestling name?
Geez, you LOVED "One Night Stand" even though Benoit, Guerrero, Jerico and Mysterio (and I'm probably forgetting some more) came out to WWE MUSIC!
It can't ALWAYS be Rob van Dam out there... dude.
But congratulations, you were the first one to shit on it here. You'll always have that.
I liked One Night Stand because it was an entertaining show. Matt Hardy is not entertaining to me. This is WCW hogwash that just didn't work with me. It worked ONCE with Brian Pillman because he was a brilliant performer. Matt Hardy is a mediocre wrestler with a thesaurus and website. He should thank Edge (Or Adam, wow shoot! Where's Russo?) for fucking his girlfriend because its giving him the biggest match he'd ever get as a singles wrestler.
Should I fake enthusiasm for an average wrestler returning to a poorly done worked shoot (OMG HE SAID RING OF HONOR! I KNOW WHAT THAT IS! OMG! SO SMART! SHOOT)?
"When did they pass a law that says the people who make my sandwich have to be wearing gloves? I'm not comfortable with this. I don't want glove residue all over my food; it's not sanitary. Who knows where these gloves have been?" - George Carlin
I'm a Matt Hardy fan and am happy to see him back, and don't feel like I have to shit on it to show that I'm smarter than others, but at the same time, I sort of hoped they'd do more with it... The fact that they put Piper and HBK after him made it seem like they're trying to cut any heat he might get off at the knees, and if he gets TOO over, we might just see HHH back sooner than expected...
Masters seems like he might be getting better, but that could have just been Tajiri kicking his ass for most of the match...
Looks like HBK's doing that "I'm still a good guy, but I just have to get my way." thing. He's not willing to do what it's going to take to get the crowd to boo his mic-work. It seemed that until he kicked Piper, the crowd was giving him face heat and actually booing the mention of Hogan...
Because Matt Hardy coming back was the last thing ANYONE ever expected.
argh. wish I had not been in lurker mode when this started, and I totally called this. I only have my fellow raw buddies on the couch to back me on this -- but I said this almost from the beginning. I'm so glad Vince went with this, I said this is like Bret Hart, except you have a guy who isn't the same level of ego that Bret has, so he'll work with you. This angle is gonna draw like crazy, I only wonder how long the work has gone on for. The crazier Matt acted on the boards, the more sure I was of it being a work. For Matt's sake, I wish the whole affair and everything was a work, but that's highly unlikely, as the late, great Gorilla would say. Even expecting it, I haven't marked out like this in a long time, well... actually the ECW feud was pretty close. Cause you know... I'm such a smart fan
oh and I believe he said "I'll see you all in ROH!!11!!oNE!!!"
oh and having Matt not coming in at the end makes it seem more real. And my total mark friend watching it was half convinced it was real, despite everything. Hopefully Matt can channel all his pissed offedness into decent promos. I love the V1 character, he's a great dorky heel, much like Mr. Copeland, I've seen less then impressive promos when in "serious, Mr. badass" mode. But then if my bitch girlfriend fucked me over and almost cost me my job, I'd be able to channel some serious rage. Assuming the whole thing wasn't a work to begin with.

Originally posted by hhhgamewmx7Honestly for a minute i thought it was some lookalike when it seemed like Edge was trying to cover his face but wow. I'm stil not sure whether the whole thing was a 6-month work or that they settled diferences between the 3 of them.
I can't believe that this was a 6 month work. I just don't see WWE going through with it, or at least doing it so authentically (this would mean someone came up with the idea of starting the thing with Kane and ignoring the crowd response, and I don't see the company thinking it through THAT much).
Everything went down, WWE released Matt, WWE saw that the Matt/Edge/Lita real-life saga was more over than anything presented on TV, Vince hired Matt back to start an angle. I'd be SHOCKED if there was anything more to it.
Have to agree with this . It also gave Matt an opportunity to get in a few free hits on Edge/Adam and let some agro out.Probably only became a work in the last month or so.
But yeh some part of me expected it but some part of me likes it too. Probably why I keep coming back to it
The Matt thing was neat. Nice job of turning a real-life thing into an angle seamlessly (unless WWE/Matt/Edge/Lita come out and admit it was fake from the beginning, I find it hard to believe this didn't start off real before everyone realized money could be made). They need more stuff like that, although I guess with no major competitor around it's pretty hard to make happen since almost everyone worth a damn already works for you.
Matt's quote of "EH SINGING RING FFF HONOR....R-O-H" will live in infamy, unless it doesn't. Between that and the announcers not really mentioning it after it happened, it went a long way to convincing some fans that it was real. Oh, and I find those fans really annoying, since they will defend their point to death no matter what the evidence is to the contrary. "BUT YOU DON'T KNOW FOR SURE, YOU DON'T WORK THERE!" Yes, I do know, and so does anyone else with a brain.
Originally posted by ryanc22This is the WWE produced movie originally called Eye Scream man starring Kane.
Negative. I admit, I thought that for a moment since the voice sounded a bit like Kane, but when I saw the Boogeyman name I knew it wasn't. The Boogeyman guy is the huge black guy from the most recent Tough Enough who got cut during tryouts because he lied about his age. He was in the news recently because he was involved in the angle that got Cornette released by WWE.
I'll admit my cable tv connection makes the Spike TV channel very fuzzy, so it took my eyes a good five seconds to realize that was Matt Hardy being arrested and not Snitsky.
It's good to have Matt back playing the black and white Sting role, without the constant Schivane, "Oh my God what is Sting doing up in the rafters?"
Having Matt back makes me want to watch a part of the show I'd been blowing off the past month porque it just didnt make any sense having Kane in that role.
No matter what anyone says, when Matt and Edge get in the ring together, I'm gonna be watchin for some real punches.
Enough of that...I think Kurt Angle is really being wasted right now. I'd like to see him get in a program with Shelton. Maybe even getting Flair to become Shelton's mentor somehow with Trips being out during the summer...

We all would but the Kurt Angle Invitational is necessary to keep Angle on TV without any high risk of further neck trouble. I'm sure we'll see some Angle program for SummerSlam develop soon.
Hell of a show. The MCMG/Beer Money match was maybe the best tag wrestling since the glory days of the SmackDown 6. Main event was good but not great-it's just nice to see a world title match get time on TV like that.
