He's been saying stuff like this for weeks, though! Just one example because I'm tired: from prior to the six-pack challenge a few weeks ago, "Nitro's title reign is as good as over!"

Completely horrible, and makes wrestling look extra fake. If you can leave out the door, why would you ever attempt climbing over the top? Or pinning? Or trying a submission? I know I'm supposed to suspend disbelief, but a cage match is supposed to be harder to win, not easier, than a normal match. It should really be that you have to climb over the top to win, and that's it. Cage matches used to be the ultimate blowoff to a feud because the heel manager couldn't interfere; now the cage door is just another prop for wacky heel hijinks.
Not that I've ever actually seen a cage match laid out this way, but I was thinking the other night that you could probably do a pretty good match revolving around the guys only trying to use the door to get out. Unlike climbing over the cage, which you can do from any point in the ring, the door is a single point of exit. You could do some great stuff with the psychology, cutting the ring off and so forth. | | Pages: Prev 1 2
