If you're like me, you can think of about three segments that went WAY too long (or, perhaps, shouldn't even have aired).

I'm PRETTY sure it's only illegal to BUY Cubans (as opposed to merely POSSESSING them). Not that I should be dissing an actual attempt at something resembling logic...

Speaking of logic, shouldn't Cena pay somebody to run out and get Edge disqualified at SummerSlam?

Kida listend to RAW tonight instead of watching it but normally when your taken downtown for having contraband don't they officers take the "contraband" with them?? Just one of those little things I happened to notice when they walked out and left the boxes in the dressing room. Guess Armando had to get a few before going out to the ring.. LOL!!!!

The opening segment was not good, particularly the baby pictures stuff. That's the best they could do?....If they're going to give Shelton the "T.O. of the WWE" moniker, shouldn't they do vignettes or something to kind of get the idea across to the fans, rather than just saying it over and over again? I mean, yeah he wears shades, but does that make him T.O.?....

The three-way match had okay action, but I'm getting sick of seeing these three fight in some combo every week....I expected more out of "Orton Knows Best," though the Hogan fake looked like him (facially), and the new Brooke was hotter than the old Brooke....The women's tag match started out okay, but then broke down by the end....

The dueling promos by Flair and Foley were strong (again), but I don't know about getting real-life mixed up into the angle....I wish Cena/Striker went longer and was more competitive....The only noteworthy part of Rory v.s. Johnny was the new ref (not sure who though)....I liked HBK/Umaga and the right guy went over. AAE and Umaga are growing on me more and more every week.

When Orton Knows Best started, JR said something to the effect of "I know Orton's disrespectful..." and I just kept thinking to myself as he talked, and I remembered all the Eddie crap, "please don't say you've never seen Orton do anything this bad"....but he ended up not going that route, which was good.

I actually thought the segment was entertaining.

I wonder how Shelton's dance moves are, maybe he could add some kind of creative dance after each victory. Or maybe he could pick a tag team partner and then be a jackass and anger the other member. Then jump from team to team.

It seemed like a pretty listless Raw tonight, with the only emotion coming in the confusing Foley/Flair segment. The problem is that Foley is playing the heel, yet the comments from Flair's book were the most heelish of the two. The top feuds on the show (Edge/Cena and McMahons/DX, Carlito/Nitro/Shelton) are so played out that it'll be a dull few weeks of buildup to Summerslam.

If Umaga jobs to HHH next week I'm gonna kill somebody.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

I don't know if it was just a local issue or if anyone else on the west coast and/or bay area can back me up, but there were some absolutely bizarre broadcast problems with the first few minutes of the show. I got the intro, followed by Shane and Vince making their entrance for about thirty seconds, then it jump-cut to the very end of the show, with Vince and Shane standing over Michaels...at which point it faded out to black, they started running Psych, and after a good fifteen seconds of that went to black and then back to Raw, except it was last week's episode, with Michaels' opening promo, which ran until Coachman came out to interrupt him, at which point it jump-cut back to HHH and Michaels making jewish jokes at the McMahons.

With the possible exception of the triple threat, that was much more entertaining than the rest of the show.

Well, on the bright side, Candice is definitely improving. Shame the match had to be spoiled by that ugly botched Stratusfaction, though.

And, well, I think that was the bright side.

Did I miss anything, or did they not mention the world title or the Edge/Cena feud at all until around 10:30?

The triple threat was okay, up until the abrupt ending. I'm really hoping that they give these guys 20-30 minutes at Summerslam. But then, they probably don't want to take time away from DX v. McMahons.

Man, I can't believe that the World Champion was only on this show for about 2 minutes, and his only role was to do brief color comentary on Cena's match. No promo, no match of his own. I get that dX is supposed to be the focal point of the show, regardless of how well I think that's working out for them. I just don't get why they don't think the champ is important.

The prime time to do the TO gimmick was at least 6 months ago (or more), when the whole TO/Eagles thing was somewhat fresh in everyone's mind. Doing it now just emphasizes that the company is woefully behind the times & out of touch w/ pop culture when it comes to working gimmicks.

Plus, if you want to run a TO gimmick, you need someone to play the slimy agent to do Shelton's talking. I don't see that happening, which further underlines how poorly played the gimmick will be, which means it won't get over as well as it really should. Too little, too late for this gimmick, I'm afraid.

I dug the opening to the triple-threat match. Carlito raking Shelton's eyes, then doing the slide into Nitro was brilliance. I love watching these guys work together.

I'll second the love for Uuuuuuuuuuumaga going nuts without direction.

Finally, let me give some love to one Matt Striker. That promo while walking to the ring was standard material, but he has such great delivery. I only wish the match was more competitive.

Yeah, at one point I thought to myself, "When did someone teach Candace Michelle to wrestle?" I mean she's no Kurt Angle, granted, but I was surprised at how somewhat-competent she looked out there last night.

The only other thing I noticed was JR's horrible announcing. The only thing I can specifically remember was his calling the Highlanders "Buccaneers," and being corrected by Lawler... but I feel like there were more horrendous moments than just that.

Last night was a total slap in the face to Edge. Give the Divas 10 minutes, DX gets about 30+ minutes total, and Foley/Flair (as good as it was) rambled on for about 15. Edge gets 2 or 3 minutes. Wake up guys, he is your Champ, use him. You gave him the belt for a reason, he had the most heat of anyone who wasn't stale or named Cena.
The 3 way IC match was too short, but good, and Candice is improving. I just thought I should say something positive about a throwaway show 3 weeks before the 2nd biggest show of the year.

Other than the extremely lame opening segment & the Orton segment, RAW was pretty solid last night.

I could have probably listened to Flair & Foley go back and forth for the entire two hours.

Umaga has really grown on me. He's probably one of the better-groomed new characters that they've had in a couple of years. Plus, HBK made him look like a main-eventer as well.

Ditto! This played really well and I thought it was neat that the rage stopped the minute Vince snapped the cigar. It showed Umaga off as an out-of-control beast who is lost without Armando to direct him. Beautifully done!

Having said that, if they put Umaga over HHH next week, he's gonna be huge. He's already getting amazingly over.

-Flair/Foley was good, but IMO, it didn't really start getting good until Flair made his appearance...during Foley's rambling, I had started losing interest. Melina was a trooper, hanging out for the whole segment, seemingly with little reason to be there, other than she's Foley's friend.

-I also, was very into the baseball slide under Melina...nice touch by Carlito, immediately followed by a Shelton somersault to the outside.

-During the ECW spot that aired, announcing Batista would be in the main event, the return of Angle, I was thinking to myself, ECW actually has my interest more this week than Raw, especially knowing CM Punk finally makes his debut.

-The rest...was just kinda there. I'm usually all for buying Summerslam, my 3rd fav PPV behind Mania and the Rumble, but this year, I have a funny feeling I'll be passing.
