I want someone who was there to say that the Bret Hart-HOF graphic wasn't shown to the live audience, while Eddie's was...cause Bret got *no* reaction whatsoever.

What bothers me about that is people will be falling all over themselves to compliment HHH for "saying what needed to be said" about Cena, like you have to be some promo-cutting god to flat-out admit Cena isn't a very good wrestler. Cena could have just as easily made a crack about HHH marrying his way to the top (Hunter even gave him the perfect opening by saying everyone "knows" why he's not like Cena's other challengers) and gotten his own smark pop.

Actually, I'm not even sure anymore that Cena could get over even by worked-shooting on HHH. The whole confrontation had a very "Give us Barabbas! Free Barabbas!" feel to it.

I was just thinking about a few signs that used to say, "HHH - midcarder for life!" the other day.
I dislike HHH face-hell thing. He's pushed like a face but he's suppose to be a heel. Right now, I think HHH sucks like I though hogan sucked in the 80s.

I love how almost every HHH vs opponent duel interview always has the "HHH saying that X isn't in his league" and then the opponent taking time out to give HHH his respect and props...

HHH: i'm the king of kings, you are just keeping the belt warm, etc etc.

Wrestler X: "... and i know you've been champ multiple times; you've won the big one, you're the cerebral assasin, you're the game, you dress well, your hair is shiny and managable, etc."

Even when Cena used the "but you haven't beaten me" line, all i could think of was "who cares? the guy's won multiple titles and you yourself just made him out to be god"

Its as if whomever is writing the promos thinks that HHH isn't over enough and really really needs that little "respect offered" line by the opponent to solidify the character.

It was shown. Bret got claps but it just came across to me that everyone knew that Eddie's graphic was next so they decided to save the big applause for him.

Yep, the crowd was just acting heelish threw out the night.

Plus the crowd was really all over Cena with boos. Which is shockingly considering last time WWE was in town Cena got big love from the crowd, oh well.

BTW, my Mom, who I took to this show for her birthday, totally called what wold happen when Vince called out Chris Masters. Although we thought Marty would be kissing ass not HBK.

BTW again, best part of going to the show was while we were waiting in line just to get into the MCI Center, they let us build a line in the Regal Theater next to it so a lot of us would not have to wait outside in the cold, a little kid, about 7-9 years ago totally upchucked all over the place. And just want to point out NO ONE not MCI Center staff or Regal Theater staff wold go over to clean it up even though it totally stank to high heaven.

My prediction was totally off. I figured they would go with the Marty heel turn right away, and that "Plan B" would be for HBK to come out and be told "You know how badly your buddy here needs a job. He helped YOU out last week, now it's your turn to help him out ... if YOU kiss my ass, Marty gets the contract." Then when he refuses as well, Marty attacks from behind, etc., etc.

By the way, any opinion on whether the announcer "confusion" at the end over the "I'll kick your ass at WrestleMania" was part of the script or covering for Vince failing to mention that he'd booked the match? It seemed like they were trying to cover for Vince, like he was supposed to announce the match in a clearer manner.

I took it as teasing a development that will be addressed next week. TLMT and I thought Vince screwed up by not naming Angle as champ during his interruption of Cena/Hunter. Then I read this morning that SD was taped after RAW and featured a title match.

Exactly. JBL, Jericho, and Angle never said that. They heeled as hard they possibly could, unlike a certain great heel who was crackin' wise to get pops. For all of Triple H's boring promos, this one was fundamentally his worst.

Actually SD was taped BEFORE RAW. So in the arena we knew the match but I guess from a TV stand point the Angle/Taker match technically had not happen yet so they just made it Cena & Hunter vs Rey, Orton, and "the World's Champion".

That didn't surprise me because my section (right behind the announce table) at SummerSlam was one of the most vocal, IMO, with the "Let's go Jericho!" chants.

The DC area thinks Cena is a big poser. I remember at a Raw show back in late '99, before Austin went out with an injury and most of the arena had dueling Bubba Ray and Devon chants.

We're always an odd crowd. I vaguly remembering weird chants at Backlash 2000, but I had sucky nosebleed seats and was a big upside-down face all night.

I thought Marty's backstage promo was a little awkward when he mentioned that he wouldn't have a place to stay if it wasn't for "Rod the Bod". It made me wonder if it was an unscripted "shout-out" or if they will be bringing in Rod Price (which isn't very likely).

My question that I wanted to post was Triple H actually breaking character because he's supposed to be bad guy but getting pops for ripping Cena?

Next was Marty about to laugh while Vince was getting jiggy with his ass?

After a review of the tape. It sure looked like as I was laughing at both of there reactions.

I don't think he was supposed to announce it at all. I think what struck the announcers, because it sure struck me, is Vince casually mentioned the match with no hype as though it had been announced previously. So Joey and Lawler had to trot out their "amazed that an incredible match has just been made" reactions, even though Vince treated it like it was no big deal. (Coach's pathetic attempt to undo the gaffe by claiming Vince is only going to kick Shawn's ass, not wrestle him, was pure Coach.)

Given how Vince was talking about the Shane match at SNME, I think the angle was supposed to be that Shane was as close as Shawn will get to fighting Vince, so immediately adding a Vince match can't be what they were going for. I'd assume the plan was for Shawn to obliterate Shane, inciting Vince to finally accept Shawn's challenge to a match, and last night Vince momentarily forgot that he hadn't gotten to that point yet.

Maybe this is indicative of the WWE losing faith that Cena will ever really get over?

I think it is more of HHH wanting to make Cena look bad and piush him back to the mid card with the likes of Jericho, Benoit, Booker T, Big Show, Kane, Flair etc.
The difference being, besides the women/children/die-hards everyone is ready to see Cena pushed the hell out of the main event.

This show needs more Spirit Squad.

As for HHH burying people in promos, this time it wasn't met with smark indignity it was met with "hey... he sounds like my message board posts!"

I personally liked HHH's promo. You may say its killing the Cena character. I don't agree with that. He was going out of his way to be an asshole. That's what heels do. It is no way different then some of the stuff Edge has been saying since he became the "Rated-R Superstar". I think it fits perfect for what they are doing with Cena. Cena even said in his promo that he obviously doesn't have the respect of the fans. I think WWE is gonna play off these boos in the future. Where they go with it is anyones guess, but i don't think they will be ignoring it much long as evidenced by what HHH said.

On a side note, did anyone notice during the boes after Coach introduced Cena Lawler said "Gotta let the boos for Coach die down". Lol I wonder who told him through the headset to say that line. He sounded like it was a joke and that WWE was aknowledging Cena is getting serious heckling.

I haven't really seen that, either.

Maybe this board's being confused with some other one?

As soon HBK walked up to Marty I was wondering if he swiped Whisper's halter top. Then with no jacket it was worse.

But Shane-O's chair shot was brutal.

Big Show: Why is he getting the Intercontinental Title shot and not me?
RVD: Ahhh...maybe 'cause you're a tool.
Big Show: Look. I am 7'2". I am 500 pounds. I'm a giant.
RVD: Oh ok. You're a giant tool.

It did look good on camera, but I wouldn't say that it was a trully brutal shot due to the fact that Shane hit Shawn on the arm and shoulder with the chair, not the head. But it still came off as a nice looking chair shot.
