Quick thoughts:

-- Go Carlito!

-- How soon before Matt Hardy makes his return? (Now that they've acknowledged in their own kayfabe that he has a role in the Edge/Lita thing, I would think they'd have no choice but to bring him back. I wonder if we'll see him respond to the events of tonight sometime over the next day or two...)

-- Looking forward to seeing Hassan debut on Smackdown later this week.

-- Also looking forward to Trips doing the job to end all jobs on Sunday. (I hope, at least...)

Batista & John Cena represent instant upgrades over their predecessors as world champions. However, there's still a general state of backlash around Cena and a specific state over the way he won (however misguided it may be), and the usual tag/cruiserweight complaints persist. The rematches should be interesting, however...

There is officially nobody left on SmackDown. There's Eddie, Benoit and two thirds of Mysterio. That's it.

I'll admit that I marked out for Matt Hardy's faked entrance. It'll be fun to see how many people line up and say they're never watching WWE again because of this.

"He is the most overrated piece of crap in the league. He bitched and whined after he got his ass beaten in New England last year, so the NFL changed the rules. Then he got his ass beaten in New England again. Every year he's the top MVP candidate. Every year he's supposed to be the best. Every year he's going to carry the Colts to the Super Bowl. And every single year he goes to New England and gets his ass beaten. And his brother's a whiny little bitch." -A friend of mine, on Peyton Manning

The wedding needed more freaky midgets.

However, I did get a laugh out of the poor old priest screaming "JESUS CHRIST!" when he saw Kane.

Poor Padre, now he'll never make it to the reception to hear Edge's explanation over the Matt Hardy video...

Call me a sucker ... for a minute there I thought Matt Hardy was really coming out & that we'd been worked the whole time. I'm pretty sure we'll be hearing from Matt once again now.

Wasn't really expecting Carlito, but when he came out, you just knew he'd be walking out with the IC title. Someone has now gotta go to Smackdown to fill the "talk show host" role. Jericho? Or maybe, just maybe, Christian revives "The Peep Show" ...

So if they move a newbie heel over the blue show this week, my money is on Chris Masters.

Edge and Lita, you got me. I ran in from another room when I heard Matt's music kick in.

Shouldn't the Call 911 spot have occurred while the ECW PPV was being promoted? Maybe this will be an amnesia angle, those have always been wonderful.
Viscera is supposedly a lady's man, yet all we see his him trying to hump males. Lillian equals beard?
Can anyone imagine the next level of insanity Matt Hardy reaches after this week? And, if a heel wedding is taking place, they need Brother Love to officiate it.
Build up a winning streak for six months, conveniently forget a DQ loss to Benoit, and flush it away in a squash match that would have been lopsided on Challenge. Makes complete sense.
John Cena, Christian, Chris Jericho: 3 names that start with C, two with J. Ross is really going to get screwed up on Sunday.
Benjamin should write a thank you letter to whoever decided that mats need to be placed along the ringside area.

So even though it was pretty funny hearing the V1 music hit, it was sort of like one of those ever so stupid WCW worked shoots. Unless this is actually going to lead to the return of Matt, which I don't think it will, what is the point of muddying the storylines like this. They were doing fine with the subtle references for the internet fan before this.

And in another WCW Nitro tactic, we got the three minute main event complete with run-in. What a swerve~! Seriously, it's pertty lousy to promise a match all week that you have no intention of delivering. It's not like people wouldn't have cared about that Tag match.

I'm afraid my boy Shelton Benjamin is gonna be buried now. He never really got over with the belt, and I just don't see them doing enough with him to get him over without the belt. It's a shame because he's one of the few guys I actively like these days.

Cena had a nice promo, and thankfully, I think the seeds are being planted for him to be traded back over to Smackdown.

There's a Pay Per View this weekend? And they went to the trouble of announcing four whole matches? Aww, wasn't that nice of them. The four announced matches are all pretty strong, but I have a feeling Vengeance is going to do a horrible buyrate, what with no promotion and coming fof of the heels of the One Night Stand.

I really enjoyed how JR and King kept calling the man Caribbean Cool Carlito. Woeful.

I'm putting my money on Jericho being the draft pick Thursday, with the stip that he still takes part in the three-way match Sunday. That way one or more Smackdown Superstars (who want a belt to chase after) can help Jericho win and bring a title to Smackdown. Cena loses but doesn't lose his heat, Smackdown still has a title, and they even set up a little feud for down the road, perhaps if whomever helps Jericho is drafted to Raw *next* year.

-I was really thinking Haas was going to come out when Bisch brought out Benjamin. Carlito still had plenty to do on Smackdown, but wasn't a bad choice to bring over. You just gotta believe King when he says, "Carlito is the biggest draft pick so far that we've had on Raw!" That certainly brings down the WWE championship a bit.

-Speaking of the WWE championship, the first match for the title on Raw since 2001 and it lasts a minute? Hmmmm...Not sure what to say.

-Horrible (yet funny) angle with Grisham, Christy, and Victoria. He just couldn't get that darn hair out of Christy's nose.

-I'm certainly hoping they plan on bringing Hardy back because if not...then that angle was just wrong. I did although mark for Padre. His pauses for the crowd to shut up every five seconds were classic. Bad camera angle on the tombstone though.

I bet the Hardy tease was just payback for TNA using his name last night while he is still under the no-compete clause.

Either that, or it was just an awesome way to get the fat chicks in the crowd to pop. It was shades of the Bret Hart/DX/Midget promo circa-1997.

Yeah, they got me too when V1's music hit. I would've marked like a mother had he actually came out, but I should've known better. Damn WWE cocktease.

Speaking of which, I see another long two months of Diva Search BS. Wonder if they're going to have storylines within the search (like Everyone Hates Carmella) or just keep it a good-natured T&A fest. Whatever keeps the segments short would be great.

I really wish I'd watched Smackdown! more, because I'm almost totally unfamiliar with this Carlito fellow. I know he spits a lot and he's Caribbean, and he supposedly stabbed John Cena (or was that Jesus?), but that's about it.

All the matches were pretty mediocre, and it was very odd that they blew Hassan's much-vaunted winning streak on a squash match. The only good part was that if the pre-PPV rules work out, HHH will lose for the third time in a row and break his fictional HitC undefeated streak.

Overall, a disappointing RAW after the past two weeks' shows.

That fake Hardy swerve was THE funniest thing ever. Then Kane popped his head out of the mat and I laughed even harder. Poor padre really sold that tombstone.

I really hope Matt comes back, because they need some closure with this angle. And where the fuck was Trish? Lita cant have a wedding without Trish in her hot bride's maid underwear! I demand Trish damnit!

My favorite part of the evening was the EMT saying "CHRISTY! CHRISTY!" and the other one saying "DO YOU KNOW YOUR NAME?" Morons.

So, Matt comes back at the PPV. WHIPPEEEEE!

Give Christian the title and let him go to Smackdown. Then Carlito can have Tomko and Christian can have Matt Morgan.

Thank you Vince for bringing Carlito to Mondays, now I dont have to watch Smackdown any longer.

Does this mean we get to see "Christy, lost in Cleveland"?

They missed a perfect opportunity to pull one of the biggest swerves in history, and didn't bite on it...could you imagine if Hardy had came out, and he and WWE had played into the whole "fired" thing and had him show up? Coulda been incredible.

Carlito was an interesting pick, as they're starting to get the lower guys now...I think Raw loses another big name and then we steamroll into the final 4 picks next week.

Just an average show IMO, and even the main event was easy to figure they're turning into a tag match, especially when HBK was wearing his gear.

Not sure I understand Hassan getting completely rocked, but did anyone else notice how much JR played up the WWE Championship? He spoke of it in a way where it seemed more important than the World Heavyweight Title.

The show is still running on the West Coast, but I have to say this: that shot of Kane's head sticking through the mat had damn well better be in the next Caption thread, because that was one of the funniest damn things Raw's done in YEARS.

That whole time that Matt's theme was playing, I just kept saying to myself "this is just a sick joke that Vince is playing on him and any fans V1 has left, he's still fired..." and sure enough, it was a SWERVE~! It pissed me off more than almost anything, and would have turned me off of RAW, if not for Carlito's defection, and Kane's head popping up out of the mat.

If WWE ever makes a DVD of bizarro weddings, I'm so buying it ^.^

I concur, great stuff. I was one of the many that was thinking this Matt/Lita thing may have been a work. I marked big time. Not at the fact that Matt was back but that the WWE actually pulled one over on the Internet fans! But nope, Vince was just poking fun (and did a great job at it).
