The initial photo is now of Bisch and Johnny Weekly.

Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight, never running from a real fight, because it is time to WAKE UP! It's time for Raw, live from Calgary, Alberta...and a Fashion Report, too!

Jericho, with a new entrance video, in black/cyan "Jericho" shirt and silhoutte tights, vs. Christian!, in white tights with gold "C"s on black crests, with Trish, in a black top and hip-hugging blue jeans. Mike Chioda is the official, in a black/white striped shirt. Trish gets involved, so Jericho spanks her, but Christian quickly pulls her out. OMG - Jericho does a running leap off the ropes to the outside, totally flooring the heels. Since they're down, AdBreak decides to get some air time.

Cont. The heels are now in control. Trish hits a nasty boottothehead. Much back-and-forth and many near falls. Trish slaps Christian, in the classic botched "I'll hold him and you hit him" spot. Some tattoo'ed guy with a goatee, in black, kicks Jericho in the face (and falls down - ha!). Christian gets the pin. A nice match, a shitty ending.

Christian introduces the big lummox to Trish as Tyson Tomko (?).

Benoit, in a tan sleeveless "Crossface" tshirt and black tights and black slacks with blue slashes, the World Heavyweight Title over his shoulder, comes out to a standing ovation. He proceeds to cut a promo. The crowd doesn't know if they should cheer for Benoit or Stu Hart. Eventually Shawn, in a black cap, black "HBK" wifebeater, and black chaps over black "HBK" tights. (Hmm, looks like he's acting pretty heelish.) The stupid fucks in the audiance spew "You screwed Brett" screed into the air (get over it). Only heels utter the "you and I are a lot alike" line, Shawn. Shawn has FOOTAGE! of him pinning Benoit. Shawn and Benoit prepare to have a match, but Bisch, in black sportscoat, black shirt and khakis, with Johnny Weekly, in black squared shirt and worn blue jeans, come out to put the nix on that. They move the match two weeks out, in Phoenix.

Victoria, in pink "see-my-books" top, pink right arm-wrap, and pink hot pants, wearing the Women's Championship belt (looking cute with taking a bow, and letting a lucky kid peck her cheek), vs. Molly, under a blonde wig, in black top with vertical blue stripes and black pants. Chad Patton is the referee, also in stripes. Victoria de-wigs Molly (who has a nice buzz-cut going). An enraged Molly goes for a blatant choke, leading to the DQ. Jack Doan comes out to help seperate the ladies.

It's a limo, arriving in the Canadian Summer sun. Out steps Evolution, all with gold, except poor Hunter. Todd Grisham gets all in Trips' face, but HHH stonewalls him.

"I'm spicy!"

In a dark place, Kane speaks a prophecy of doom. He's even got spooky background sounds. In Bisch's Room of Fun, Johnny, watching the TV, makes the understatement of the week "Sacrifice? That can't be good." Regal, in brown sportscoat, tan vest, white shirt and tie, comes in to speak to Bisch; apparently Eugene is playing hide-and-seek. Bisch demands that Regal find Eugene (informing Regal about the whole "sacrifice" thing) or he'll be fired.

Randy, forehead stitched, scarred, and bandaged, in a black suit, white shirt, and tie, carrying the IC Title, comes down to the ring. Randy badmouths the fans, and thanks Mick for the challenge. He proclaims he is now a living legend. Mr. Apathy (Edge), in a white wifebeater and jeans, his arm in a red cast, interrupts. Edge gets all uppity, then he kicks the snot out of Randy. Batista and Flair come out to aid their mate. But Benoit comes out. But HHH comes out. But...oh, guess that's it. Evolution leaves the faces laying in the ring. Bisch and Johnny come out to scold Evolution, and Bisch books Flair and Batista vs. Benoit and Edge, for the World Tag Team Titles. (ugh)

Coach, in grey shortsleeves (top 3 buttons open), black slacks and backwards hat, introducing Cade, in red undies, joins commentary. Cade vs. Tajiri, in black pants with yellow dragon and flaming left hem. Jack Doan is the official. Cade with an elbowdrop->pin. Average match.

Smackdown! Rebound - 'cuz they know no-one watches that show anyways. I've been wondering - why didn't Show pick-on Jan?

In the ring, Eugene is shooting tshirts to the fans. Regal arrives on-the-scene just in time to take a shirt to the crotch.

In the locker room, Benoit pumps-up Edge. Almost makes me believe.

Lita, in a purple bra and fishnet shirt, and black pants, and Val, in a towell, vs. Gail, in black trenchcoat, lace-up top and hotpants, and Mattitude, in open black/white jacket and pants. But before the match can start, Kane comes out to destroy the faces. See Mattitude's internal conflict before he finally decides to run-in and take Lita's beating for her. Lita looks on, cowering in the corner.

Um, was that "Hirohito" thing supposed to be for a wrestler? 'Cuz they didn't CC it. So, would Tajiri be his loyal subject?

Flair, in red "Nature Boy" robe and black "RF" undies, and Batista, in black undies with arcing red flame, both wearing the Tag Titles, vs. Edge, in black tights with "Edge" splats, and Benoit, now wearing the World Totle. Chioda is the official, in stripes. Mid-match, HHH comes out, distracting Benoit from his crossface. Take an AdBreak break.

Cont. The heels are still in control. Benoit is the workhorse for his team before getting a hot tag to Edge. HHH pulls Edge out of the ring, but Shawn superkicks HHH away. Meanwhile, Edge gets the pin. New tag champs. A nice match.

Overall: An entertaining show. I would've thought Mattitude's face turn would've been more drawn-out, but oh well.

The good news for Flair is, Batista canít smack him in the face with the belt when theyíre exiting the limo anymore.

Talk about booking out of left field. Edge tries to start a feud with Orton and ends up one half of the tag team champions.

I was SO hoping Kane would come out and either kill Eugene or inadvertently job to him. I guess I'm just a sadist that way.

Molly really wigged out tonight! BWAHAHAHAHA! Thanks and donít forget to tip your carhop.

Doesn't Burger King's "I'm Spicy!" guy sound like Mr. Hanky? Wouldn't his line be much funnier being delivered by Mr. Hanky?

Good show, odd booking and no Shelton

What I'm trying to figure out..and maybe somebody else will have insight but was Randy Orton being cheered on his way out and then getting "Randy" chants during his promo which I must say was actually pretty good(I thought).

A wrestling show started by a wrestling match on the night after a PPV? I'm scared.
Was Shelton Benjamin involved in Eugene's game of Hide and Go Seek. I have found a use for Eugene though. Make Regal do color and Eugene play by play. Might be the best chance of a match actually being called.
Someone is going to have to break the news to Jim Ross that Edge wasn't on RAW 14 months ago, despite how many times he repeated the 'First match on RAW in 14 month line'.
Benoit Double Champion? This is really starting to scare me.
Just a minor coincidence that May sweeps start two weeks from tonite on the night of Michaels/Benoit. Just a coincidence.
Wouldn't it have made a slight bit of sense for Lita to crawl out of the ring during the Matt Hardy beatdown, since he sacraficed himself so she wouldn't get injured. Made no sense for her to still be in the ring and not get chokeslammed. And, the decline of Kane continues, as he could be entering into a program with Matt Hardy, who hasn't won a match since the Truman Administration.

No Shelton Benjamin? Not even a mention?

So Kane's back to killing random jobbers until his next feud. Thrill.

A wrestler named Hirohito is supposed to be fearsome? The real Hirohito was a marine biologist who pretty much wished the war would go away and leave him alone. Now name him Yamamoto, and then you're talking.

Nice elbowdrop from Cade. Otherwise, yawn.

And you can't fool me. That's just Nathan Jones with a pointy fake beard. I mean, who would have a name like "Tyson Tomko"?

So, SmackDown! gets Mordecai, and RAW gets Hirohito. Sounds about even.

Also, Kane tried to destroy Matt Hardy, but he probably ended up giving new life to Mattitude.

And who's this Tyson Tomko fellow? I think I may have seen him before, but where?

Finally, CHRIS BENOIT: DOUBLE CHAMP! Did Scott Keith save Vince's life or something? Not that I'm complaining, mind you...

Yes, there was a small "Randy" chant going up every now and again during his interview.

* And people who describe his mic skills as "putrid" (and the like) seriously need to wake up and become a little less biased. As evidenced tonight, his mic skills are just fine, and I think as he gets more confident on the mic, he's only going to get better.

* Wow, Benoit's a double champion! This is good for two reasons:

a) Benoit has more gold! Yes!

b) Edge is now once again in the limelight, and the fans cared about him. (He was pretty good on the mic, too.) This was one of the things that Edge needed to revive his career.

* You know, if they keep surrounding Benoit with people who are good on the mic, maybe Benoit can get through his entire reign without having to say too much!

* Cade's very good. Coach as his "coach" is a great idea, and will get Cade over BIG time. Yes! (poor Tajiri, though)

* I didn't even realize Shelton wasn't on the show - that's nothing against Shelton, just a testament to how smoking RAW has been lately.

* Molly snapped. Finally! It's about time. I guess they wanted to wait until Molly could have a ltiny amount of hair so she could have a butch-yet-still-quite-pretty look to her before doing the psycho angle. Works for me.

* Christian/Y2J was another good match, and now Christian has a bodygaurd! YES. I have wondered why the bodygaurd angle hasn't been used more often in wrestling. Seems like a natural heel move to me.

I thought this was a great RAW that did all the right things, in a series of great RAWs. And we have Benoit/HBK to look forward to in 2 weeks!

* Happy customer.

That "Tomko" fellow is Travis Bane of OVW. Great look, decent skills... interested to see what they do with him.

Who is this Horihito fellow? Wasn't even sure if it was a WWE promo until they cut back to RAW.

Problem with that is that would just remind people of the wonders of the Phil Hickerson vs. Eric Embry feud in World Class/USWA in '89 when Embry was trying to rest control of the company away from the evil Tojo Yamamoto. Thus, Yamamoto has already been used.

Horihito will be Kenzo Suzuki, a former NJPW and World Japan wrestler with a rugby background. While things could've have changed since then, he wasn't very good in the ring.

Those crazy Canadian fans just love to mess with us. I definetely heard the "Randy" chant. Randy did look to the crowd for a brief second with kind of a "WTF" look on his face.

That was a pretty good promo, too.

RAW Thoughts:

Good opening match, especially the springboard to the outside by Jericho; and now the feud has an all-new twist (I believe Tyson wrestled as Travis Tomko in OVW)....Good Benoit interview. Say what you will about Canadians- they respect wrestling tradition. Nice job to hype a match a couple weeks in advance, too, even if it did piss of the crowd....I originally thought that was a submission Molly had on Victoria, and that she won the title. I think they went with the correct ending though; head and shoulders above the women's match last night; So Victoria's new gimmick is kissing kids at rindside? Eh.....

Good Kane promo, to freshen the character. I thought maybe the camera would pull back and have him sitting in a bathroom stall....Real good promo from Orton. Lot of intensity too....I bet Tajiri wished he hadn't switched brands. First losing to Coach, now Cade?....I think that's the most crowd heat Eugene's ever gotten....Interesting Kane beatdown. I just can't figure out why these wrestlers or women cower in the corner. Is there some sort of force-field preventing them from exiting the ring? I must say, at least they're doing something with Matt, which is good (unless this is all forgotten by next week), and is an interesting twist in the Lita/Matt relationship....

I wasn't sure Hirohito was a wrestler either, because I didn't see the WWE logo in the corner. They've got me interested though....The tag match was okay, but I'm no fan of Edge. That spear looked like he went head-first into Batista. And Flair- he's been doing the most obvious spot-calls I've ever seen. As much as I love the guy, he's just really deteriorating in the ring. A few months ago, I was one of his defenders of him staying in the ring. Now, I just don't know. Eye-pokes and chops are his moveset now, and his timing seems off on a lot of moves lately too. As much as I hate to say it, it may be time for him to hang'em up soon.

Ugh, Suzuki has very minimal skill for a guy who will be seen as smaller in the WWE. Not liking that choice of talent at all.

Fuck, can we turn Michaels heel already? I've been waiting for this nearly every Raw since Benoit jumped ship. It's needed. Now that WWE has seemingly committed Benoit as the top babyface, Edge as the second-in-command, Benjamin as the youth project, and Jericho as a fresh face who will get back in the mix soon enough, they should simply have Michaels fill the void of Triple H in Evolution while he's out filming movies.

Bad Blood:
HBK vs Benoit rubber match (ladder?)
Orton vs Edge IC
Batista w/ Flair vs Benjamin

Vengeance:
HHH vs Benoit
Edge vs Michaels
Orton vs Benjamin IC
Jericho vs Batista

Summerslam:
HHH vs Edge
Orton vs Benjamin IC
Jericho/Benoit vs Michaels/Flair

There's my rough sketch of how to mix it up between the two sides from now until August (though I personally would not take the strap off Benoit until SS, not Vengeance).

I hate to read all of that and have to come to the grim reality WWE will not include Kane up top as *thee* Mega Heel at some point. The guy has so much potential after that promo to be thrusted up top, he could use the whole losing to 'Taker and Edge as his motivation to get going again. All I know is that Benoit could deffinently carry Kane for a good match, and Benoit - Kane with proper hype could deffinently headline Vengeance.

Yeah, you're forgetting the two classic rules of the WWE:

1) If it didn't happen in a federation owned by Vince McMahon, it didn't happen in wrestling. And even then, it can be ignored if it's convenient for what's going on now.

2) Even in the WWE, there's pretty much a seven-year statute of limitations on gimmicks, at which point they can be reused because odds are good that the casual mark will have forgotten about it. See also: Bradshaw's current "Million Dollar Man" gimmick.

Live RAW Thoughts:

Superhot crowd. Lots of chants, especially "Go Flames Go" chants when nothing was going on.

-WWE Desire video, a lot of recent additions like Benoit winning the title
-Howard Finkel hit the ring and introed the dark matches & HeAT Matches
-DARK MATCH: Chuck Palumbo def. Local Jobber (His name sounded like Something Cruz or Something Bruise)
-DARK MATCH: Lance Storm def. Stevie Richards. Crowd loved Storm.
-Al Snow & Todd Grisham came out. Big pop for Snow. Nobody really knew who Grisham was.
-HEAT: Grandmaster Sexay def. Local Jobber
-HEAT: Rob Conway (w/Sylvain Grenier) def. Rosey (w/The Hurricane)
-HEAT: Shelton Benjamin def. Rhyno
-Lillian Garcia came out to a big pop, she introduced Jim Ross & The King and sang O Canada.

A lot of "Who the hell is that?" for Tyson Tomko. Thankfully Christian explained it for us. Lots of heat for Trish, especially Slut chants. Benoit was WAY over, as were Jericho & Edge. Smart move centering the show around 'em. Calgary HATES Bischoff & Michaels. After the main event, Edge & Benoit dedicated their win to Owen & Stu, then told us to go watch the hockey game.

Top 5 Pops:
1-Chris Benoit
2-Chris Jericho
3-Edge
4-Lance Storm
5-Tie between Matt Hardy trying to save Lita & Eugene taking over the T-shirt cannon
And yes, there was a lot of "respect cheers" for Orton after his brawl last night.
Top 5 Heat:
1-Shawn Michaels
2-Triple H
3-Tie between Randy Orton & Ric Flair. Lots of "Wooo" for Flair, and chants about his ample bosom.
4-Eric Bischoff
5-Batista ("Juice-tista" and "STER-ROIDS")
