This was a very fun show. With Benoit and Guerrero as champions, WWE has my viewership locked in again for awhile.

The draft was interesting. At first it was a veritable "Who's That?" as it seemed they were only changing minor players. I really like Heyman a lot, and if this signals the "new ECW" then I am all for it. Guerrero and HHH was far better than I thought it would be, but I knew they wouldn't give something like that away for free. The brawl was magnificent at the end - it really does add a special feel when they pull all the people in together like they did. Austin leading out the RAW troops was a neato visual, too.

Cavaliers: 31-38. Currently the 8th seed in the playoffs. The East is pathetic.
Indians: 0-0
Browns: 0-0

Salami's Observations

(1) My favorite moment - Raw's next pick is THE JAPANESE BUZZSAW TAJIRI......(cricket cricket chirp chirp)

(2) Dude, Rhyno is getting close to Big Show size. Lay off the super sized fries and get on a treadmill. You suck already. Being fat AND sucking is not a good combination.

(3) I HATED the way Bischoff and Heyman tried to "sell" every pick my making stupid faces and comments (though I have read several other people loved it.) It totally got on my nerves after a few seconds.

(4) I totally dug the bench-clearing brawl and the way it slowly escalated during the final match.

For what it's worth, these two had a really interesting interaction at the Bagels/Biceps/Etc breakfast held before WrestleMania. They were sitting at exact opposite ends of the table (raw was on one side, SD on the other) and they were kinda trash talking back and forth, talking about the fact that they never did get to settle the score. It was entertaining

Also, RVD, Rhyno, and Hardcore Holly (possibly others, I don't remember) were really talking up wanting to bring the Hardcore division back. Just another interesting note.

Count me in as one of those digging the breakout of a RAW vs. SmackDown! battle. Finally...instead of just 2 assorted GM's egos on the line, the wrestlers are (allegedly) behind their brands, and wanna stomp the other brand down to prove THEIR T-shirt is the best in WWE.

Although I'm very nervous about the prospect of an ECW Invasion 2: Electric Boogaloo. I'll mark out like {Dieter from Sprockets holding his shirt out by the nipples} a little girl {/Dieter} if they play "Theme from ECW" on WWE TV again...but the writers have big potential to blow this big-time...again.

And trading mostly jobbers back and forth isn't exactly "shaking things up"...but HHH on SmackDown! might be...and as long as it ain't Steph, the game of "Who's the SD! GM" could be cool.

Star wipe, and...we're out.

HHH looked like Wrestlemania 2000 HHH. Him and Eddie had a REAL "wrestling" match. If he could go into SmackDown and have matches like he used to with Cena and Eddie it could be pretty damned exciting.

Then again, the first thing my woman said when HHH got drafted to SmackDown was "hey, isn't the US title the only one HHH hasn't held yet?"

Also, I'm gonna hop on board predicting Heyman restarting ECW with many of the worthless trades like Taijiri, RVD and Rhyno, but I'm also gonna say he'll bring in some fresh talent and/or guys we haven't seen in a while. Dreamer in an Authority position, maybe some Green OVW guys that want to give Hardcore a try. AWESOME.

Probably the reason for that is because RVD has won the IC title, the tag titles, the hardcore title, etc so they had more to talk about, but Tajiri's resume isn't exactly as impressive so they had to add something other than just WWE Cruiserweight Title. That would be my guess.

I was going to mention that actually--THE BEARD! IT'S THE BEARD! Welcome back old friend, it's been so long since I've seen you. Remember the good times we had together?

Uh, sorry about that...

Anyway, I'm mixed on the draft because I look at the big picture when it comes to things like this, and I'm not sure how to react. Breaking up WGTT is a bad move unless Haas goes to Raw too by the deadline (the other tag teams in WWE are so vanilla, it's not even funny).

HHH going to Smackdown is a bad move to me for one important reason - Benoit. Hear me out here. I mean, from that great promo between them last week, I thought that we were finally getting the one on one match at Backlash. Nope. Color me disappointed. I just think that they should've finished their business then Hunter can do spaghetti westerns then Smackdown. And boy, that broken arm healed quick, didn't it? HHH has been known for being a quick healer, lol.

Heyman quitting means that a McMahon will run Smackdown. Goody, I'm getting No Mercy flashbacks. You know it could be that other McMahon, the one who can beat 7 foot monsters easily? What was his name? Shane, that's right. Whatever, I don't want McMahons as GMs again, they run everything else. I enjoyed Heyman immensely, but isn't it ironic that when we enjoy anything Heyman does (GM, commentating), he's taken away so quickly? But McMahons can go on and on and on and on.....

If it is that certain McMahon, I just want to say that I respected you for a long time. You had aspirations to be like your relatives and become special in the WWE. When you really got the onscreen thing going, you did a good job. But recently I can hardly look at you without shuddering. Your character's credibility really hit the toilet as soon as you justified those chants you used to get. All that emotion for a guy who doesn't even work there anymore.

Then wrestling your dad on Pay Per View. Wow. What's worse, while your voice wasn't perfect, you sound like you got a sinus congestion and slight laryngitis at the same time these days. In other words, Stephie baby, it's good to see you again. And guess what? Your husband's on your show! Good luck to ya.

After a quarter of a century on this planet, there's three things I know for sure...
1)Ain't nothing like a Dirty Pair marathon on New Year's Eve.
2)I'd make a fine Mrs. HHH II.
3) I'd make an acceptable Mrs. Orton.
1400 reasons to luv me!

Teddy Long could be a major factor in Jordan's career storywise. If they're planning on pushing Jordan, it's good the newly single Shelton Benjamin got shuffled.

Shelton is 6'2", 245 lbs.
Orlando is 6'4", 250 lbs.

Both men are young, charismatic, and sport that bald, black and beautiful look. You know you could never see these guys on TV within half an hour of one another because WWE was probably worried people would get them confused (sort of like how, when Batista was on SD, you would never see him within half an hour of Brock, because Batista actually made Brock look kinda small).

There was no point in teaming them up, since SD already has the Bashams with the whole "We look alike, no honest, we do" gimmick.

Shelton is definitely in line for a push. If Long takes an interest in Jordan, he will definitely move up the card a little.

-Jericho vs. Dupree- First pick of the lottery is Rene Dupree. The announcer call this as BIG as heís' a young blue chipper. Jericho comes out and he has his angry face on. His finisher seems to be the enzuigiri as the #1 pick goes down in defeat quickly. Like he wasn't being made look like enough of a loser and making this Draft seem pointless Austin comes out and Stunners him again. Yup this night is certainly starting out exciting.

-Kane vs. Rico- Kane wins, Well duh. Kane says he doesn't want to be on the same show as the Undertaker so I'm guessing he will. It would be smart to send Kane over to Smackdown if they want to hook Undertaker and Kane together.

-Chrsitian vs. Spike- That Spike jump on the guys stomach always seems like the most painful move ever, Christian wins with the unprettier. Whatever, still not interested. I liked Chrstian alot as the weasily creepy c*ckblocker, but now he's got a girl, he's just an over-confident heel with a hot chick, ahh pretty boring stuff... Speaking of boring, what the hell happened to Trish? The girl who did everything to distinguish herself from the female pack is playing the most common, generic characteristics of a heel valet. If you're going to force her to play heel valet, let her use some offshoot personality she used as a babyface instead of just resetting the girly girl attitude she had 3 years ago. This is just sad, what a waste of talent.

-Batista/Flair vs. Booker/RVD- A pretty decent match, Booker and RVD seemed to be on their A-Game. Nice end with RVD kicking Booker really solid on the side of the head by accident allowing Batista to get the pinfall and the title victory... After the defeat more bad news for RVD and Booker as Heyman chooses RVD name to join Smackdown. One positive is that we don't have to hear that gawd awful R-V-Book remix entrance song.

-Benoit vs. Rhyno- They didn't really think too ahead did they(duh). Rhyno been squashed by Cena for the last month yet gets a World title match vs. Benoit, even though it is Random. Benoit was lucky it wasn't TorrieBerg... Nice move from Rhyno getting Benoit in a powerbomb position as Benoit fights off just to get dropped face first to the turnbuckle. Was that the most silent sharpshooter ever, no one bought the tap out. Missed Gore by Rhyno to the turnbuckle then met with a Benoit crossface for the tap out. Rhyno's always been on the thick side, but he seems to be getting chubby now.

-Edge/Bischoff confrontation- I thought Stephanie was coming out for sure when Bischoff is in the ring bragging. But it's Edge, Happy Edge! Why did the long haired dude spear the GM who was saying nice things about him? Bischoff ratio of getting his head hitting the bottom turnbuckle in a scary manner from a Spear is 2 for 2 by my count.

-Eddie vs. HHH- HHH comes out in a RAW shirt as Cole & Tazz get all annoying WCW/NWO with us by screaming "What is he wearing?!" As HHHogan tears his Red shirt to show a blue shirt. Then tears his blue shirt to show his manzoons. Why does HHH look like Jericho in that muscle magazine. Eddie graces us with a nice looking lowrider. Nice tilt-a-whirl headscissors by Eddie on HHH. Usually this sort of ending would tick me off but it didn't. Maybe HBK costing HHH the WWE Title would have some closer for Michaels(doubt it). Seeing everyone warring was cool even though who's helping who was strange(Why Christian knock down Eddie? I'm guess that was Ortons spot)

-OtherStuff- HHH spit-take over the Raw roster was classic! Great timing and reaction as he sprays all over the entire roster. Poor wigged Molly was the closest to him but he got good distribution with his water... Jazz reaction to Teddy leaving was funny was well. Trish was cute just a couple of seats to their right just waving goodbye to Teddy LoL... Wow Nidia got huge... It was funny seeing Heyman and Bischoff try to play up all the draftees even though some of the sayings were out right dumb "Super group Cade and Jindrak"?... Good Job by Lilian for getting the confusing multi-worlds titles in order. Lilian gets a nice gold star.

-Line of the Night: Jazz "You never made me no money anyways" - to Teddy Long
-Sign of the Night: "Molly Mark"
-3Stars of the Night: 1)HHH. 2)Eddie. 3)RVD.

When they talk about trades able to be done I thought, so non of these draft are actually official? Making the possibility of these two hours pointless? There was some nice interaction during the draft. I like seeing all the wrestlers in there team colors in one room, jobbers, title holders, major stars all in one spot, I find stuff like that cool for whatever reason. What I don't find cool is that you have a draft show with no real conclusion of the draft. That's lame

Blame Jericho and Trish. This is Jericho's angle and this was where he wanted it to go. WWE didn't want Trish to turn heel but she insisted on doing it and has been for awhile. If you think Trish sucks as a heel ... IT WAS HER IDEA.

And since Jericho is writing it ... don't you just think that in the end, the good guy always gets the girl? She's either playing Christian or in a few months she opens her eyes and realizes what a CLB he is.

Edit: I personally liked the turn. It made sense. Jericho gets sympathy and the fans were chanting his name like crazy last night. He's got an edge now and he's not goofy. Trish was about as stale as the Dudley Boys. She'd gone as far as she could go as a face. It'll take time for her to find her heel persona but I'm sure she will. Christian was getting a good deal of heat on RAW. Victoria gets a top heel challenger in that division. It works all the way around.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought Rhyno looked bigger ... he looked as wide as the Big Show coming down the ramp ... he's a guy that could benefit with a move to RAW, he just needs to have his looked tweaked a bit ...

I wonder if there are plans to have Matt Morgan/Mark Jindrak team on Smackdown ... that might not be a bad idea ...

Orlando is charismatic? Oh ho, you got me there. I see no charisma, no anything. His matches are always the worst thing on Velocity, and the fans don't care.

Regarding Raw, and I apologize if I come off even more negative, but I didn't find the HHH spittake funny at all. Perhaps it was the fact that I thought HHH was the one who would be named, so I imagined the overwrought reaction before it happened. It wasn't even a good spittake; I've seen Hunter do better ones.

Anyways, it was a fun Raw regardless of the lame picks and the notion that this show could be irrelevant because of the new trading deadline and new GM. It could all go back to normal. And why didn't the WWE follow up on the Kane/Taker storyline from early in the show? It should have been mentioned again later in the show, especially since the return of the Taker to SD was the "main event" of SD this past week.

Heyman was gold all night, so I really hope he comes back, regardless of him coming back and forming ECW. He is just too good of an on-screen character to be dropped off so quickly.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Jericho has been writing this story for a while now. Originally, he & Trish were doing it, but now the WWE writers have taken over (since maybe the beginning of the year?).

And Orlando Jordan is charismatic?

I can't remember who proposed it in the "Analyzing the Draft" thread (and I'm too lazy to look it up) but they should really trade Cade for Haas and keep TWGTT together. They need a good dominant heel run on Raw for at least a year or so before they get split up. Cade and Jindrak are really bland, but maybe if they keep them together for long enough on Smackdown....something...could happen...maybe.

Personally, I would've drafted Hurricane back to Smackdown and reunited two-thirds of 3-Count with Shannon Moore. OR you could reunite Jindrak and O'Haire...God knows Sean needs something to do. They really really need to rejuvinate both Tag divisions.

Bah, it's those damn RAW cameras. Smackdown cameras are true to a wrestler's weight, but those RAW cameras add 10 or 20 pounds. Why else do you think they will hold off on Steph's appearrance as SD GM until Smackdown? She cant be coming out lookin all huge now can she.

They'll trade Cade for Haas, no doubt. Both shows need the tag teams, and although Benjamin MIGHT be ready to go solo, Jindrak sure as hell ain't.

On Rhyno... I don't think he was fat, particularly. He's ALWAYS been pretty thick, but his upper body was big enough to make it look like he was just... well, thick, instead of fat. When Pike and I were watching the show we started to wonder if maybe Rhyno can't/doesn't want to work his upper body as much since his neck injury.

Damn that was my thought exactly! Bischoff's head bounced off the turnbuckle just like it did when Goldberg speared him! I was a little worried about him there for a bit. He needs to either quit taking spears or get positioned better. I'm really enjoying Bischoff's role on Raw so keep him around!
