It put Christian over as a sadistic bastard, which was the point. It's not like he's going to get away with it, after all, as Jericho is going to beat the shit out of him at 'Mania. Honestly, StaggerLee is right on: it was shocking, and I can't think of anything that would have gotten the fans thinking "whoa, Y2J is going to DESTROY this fool" with any more enthusiasm that the incident last night.
Come on people, don't be so squeamish, for god's sake. It's not like WWE is the only show on TV that shows women being hurt. Anyone else remember the X-Files where that serial killer has Scully tied up in her bathroom after beating the hell out of her? It's not inappropriate, it's GOOD DRAMA.

I could understand if you thought it encouraged boys/men to beat up girls/women, but how is that moreso than encouraging men to beat up other men, which we see more often in wrestling?

The crowd clearly booed the match announcement. I just wasn't sure if it meant:
a)"Booooo...why not here tonight?!" or b)"Booooo...why is that booked for Wrestlemania 20?!"
I pretty sure you won't go wrong if you choose a), considering they were cheering the...um...whatever you call what Stacy and Jackie were doing before that. I don't think they were anti-diva.
I'm pretty sure the boos were 1/2 "This isn't happening tonight in Omaha...that sucks for us." It was also partially "we don't care about this match unless we see toplessness like the other Raw crowds get from Jackie."
The other problem was Vince setting up the "What would you do to get into Playboy" question. At this question, would Stacy really do cartwheels? It was the worst display of blatant T&A since Mae Young was at RR 2000.
Other than that though, I haven't seen a more hyped crowd for Raw in a while. They made the show better.
Oh, and NHS, the best sign was of course the old classic "Lesnar, your next." Whoops.
Damn you WWE for making me change my sig. I'm sure you have good enough reasons to get rid of Shannon, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Let me thus be the first to say: BRING BACK DAFFNEY! | LotusMegami

I'm a woman, and a martial artist. I don't see a problem with Christian vs. Trish, but I do have a problem with Steve stunnering Stacy.
I would definately like to see a women tough enough to take on men in the ring, without being a roided up freak. Just good enough to be believable. I'd like to see Kash get beaten down by such a women. But then, I'd like to see Kash get beaten down by anyone.
The difference is that Stacy was helpless. We know. We've seen her wrestle. And Steve is a face. His history I won't elaborate on, but knowing that makes the stunner on Stacy much more disturbing.

1) Fatal 4-way: I was surprised that Molly was not one of the last two in the ring. When I looked at Lita for the first two minutes, I thought she found Jeff Hardy's body paint. Also, remember when Theodore Long had Rodney Mack, Mark Henry, & Jazz. Now, two are out he is stuck coming out with her. Come back soon guys, we need his promos back.
2) Orton/Val Venis: When Val's music started, here is the next word I thought...NEXT!!!
3) It always makes me crack up when they just move the camera a few feet one side or the other, and Austin is right there, like on RAW. It was funnier when Vince peeks from behind during Bischoff's tirade.
4) HHH/Evolution promo: Take any HHH promo in the last few years, and cut & paste to tonight, and there you go.
5) Batista/Benoit: Good match in building Benoit. Even though Batista tapped out, he is impressive.
6) RVD/Booker vs La Resistance: Dupree is only 20? I say, if you use him in the right way, he will be around for a long time. Conway too. Otherwise, that means "Time to repackage them, in my opinion." Good match. I would like to see the "record book" JR is talking about. Maybe it is right next to the "executive committee" that comes out once in a while.
7) WM recall: You know how long WM has been taking place. A good portion of the clips involve someone who is now dead.
8) Foley interview: We see the long beatdown, but for the first time by us when we weren't emotionally distracted. All that I had to say is "Wow, can't wait till next week." Maybe he will have a friend helping out.
9) Trish/Christian: Ouch, some clothesline. I have given up on this storyline the last couple of weeks, but I think what Christian did opened up a new door which will lead to a Christian/Jericho match at WMXX.
10) Vince/Bischoff/Stacy & Jackie/Kane/Austin: Now, the WM card is starting to come together. When Bischoff and Vince shook hands, I thought they were going to go after Austin. I was surprised they actually got it on. Some funny dialogue in the house after Lesnar did the F5 on Austin. Dad: "What does he have on Austin?" Me: "Why is Lesnar there?" Dad: "He's on the other show." Here's what we ended up thinking. On Confidential several weeks back, Austin said that his last stunner will be on Goldberg. Now that Austin is the referee for the match at WMXX, we could see him do that. Then, Goldberg can leave, and also Austin can leave.
That will do it for me. I'll be back by the weekend. Probably earlier than Sunday. My grandma is coming back and when she's there, the family room is hers. So, I'll have to use the old VCR to tape next week. I'd have to use another VCR for American Idol, which I was dragged into watching by my parents. That was the trade-off of watching 4 hours of wrestling a few weeks ago. Be back later. | MollyFan2K2

Okay, so I guess chivalry really is dead. Believe it or not, I'm not arguing whether or not they should have done the spot, I'm asking whether or not anyone was bothered at all by the display. Usually I am not because I *know* what I am watching. Heck, I am still trying to figure out why this struck me as it did. Just curious if anyone else felt the same way. Apparantly not.

Dupre will make a kickass upper level heel someday...I still dont get why he didn't get the "Orton treatment" he has a better moveset than Orton, has that funny heelish dance he does, and can generate his own heat
Conway is a good wrestler also and cuts a pretty good promo

I suppose it makes me a hypocrite as I initally walked to the next room to work on my computer when the match came on, as I didn't really want to see it, but when I wandered back in just in time to see the replay, I was glued. Disturbed, slightly, but glued.
I usually watch and hope that the storytelling is good enough to make us want to believe at some level a part of it could be real. The same reason I felt a rush when Benoit won the Rumble, or when Eddie won the title. Even when I pretty much knew what was going to happen, it's still a fun ride.
Perhaps it's cause the story was telling something I don't want to beleive - that women are dumb and taken advantage of by much larger and more powerful men who act like dicks.
It probably won't make me stop watching in any event, but it's stuff like this that have convinced me to never spend a nickle on a PPV, and to no longer attend the house shows when they're in my area. Even though I enjoy most of the show, it's better on free or cable TV.

Well, I wasn't particularly offended here, because it's true about what happened to Scully. Matter of fact, I rememeber an ep when a Mulder clone threw Scully HARD into a glass table. Was it really that shocking? I mean, Trish is one of the very few women who are built up as WRESTLERS. She dishes out beatings every week. I would be shocked (maybe) if it was an unprovoked attack on a non-wrestling woman, say Lillian, for example. But you could see this coming down the road, and it gets Christian over as a sadistic heel rather than his jealous best friend tweener persona. Plus, Trish's sell of the clothesline was GOLD. Kudos to her for making it look very, very real. | | Pages: Prev 1 2 3 4
