Well that would make it 8 years which isn't a million miles (or years) away from 10.

I doubt many people watching would think Foley any less popular for not having anyone run in for him. He was being set upon by the dominant heel group on the show which would be a strong deterrent for any wannabe knights in shining armour.

Faces only really make the save if they have a compelling reason to do so. As it stands, The Rock's the only guy with any real and current affiliation to Foley, and he weren't there.

The segment both shows Foley to be quite the bad ass for taking such a beating before staying down, and also builds sympathy for him in the buil up to WM.

I's expect a 'Will nobody save Foley from the wrath of Evoluion' story line to come out of this, leading to The Rock's return and a tag match at WM.

Looks like a good RAW all in all. Jericho/Chrtistian continues to simmer along, and the ME build for WM is doing a great job of creating intrigue about both the result and the possibility of a Michaels heel turn in the match (I ain't buyin' no Pedigree as proof positive that Michaels and HHH haven't found some sort of mutual respect post Rumble).

Actually it's about 7 1/2 years. Saying that's close to ten years is like saying Chris Jericho is about 6'3".

And they never lie about weights and heights right

I'd just take it as part of the marvellous art of over-hyping that prevails in the WWE. The same practise actually goes on in the 'real' world if you look at the build thats gone into a lot of boxing matches.

I'd I've thought you 'Skins fans would have better things to worry about ;p

Leading up to the Rumble, they billed HHH/HBK as "7 years in the making". Now, roughly 1 month later, it's 10 years? Did I fall asleep for 3 years sometime in the past week?

-HHH/Bischoff/Benoit interview- Don't know why Bischoff needs HHH permission to do a match? Benoit comes out and talked with his actions. Gets the crossface as evolution runs out and break it up.

-RVD/Booker vs. Flair/Batista- This match wasn't sloppy per say, but really disjointed and seemed like a trail run or something with how telegraph and slow they were going. Well one good spot with RVD taking a splat while diving over the top as Orton pushes Batista out of the way. Also the 5star while Flair was in the figure 4 was good but it took forever to set it up... Batista kinda looked lost outside when he was going after Foley. Well atleast they seemed to drop the idea of Evolution having all the titles.

-Kane vs. Jericho- Your squashy squash match of the night. Sure Jericho had a bad wheel going in but Kane pretty much dominates as Jericho can't continue... More supernatural special effects as purple rain, purple rain down on Kane. I thought this was wrestling not the splish splash show. For a few weeks I thought this was cool, but they are creeping into repetitive mode if they are doing this for another 3 weeks.

-Orton/Batista/Foley interaction- What a boring beatdown. It just went on and on and on. A good beatdown is intense and inpactful. This was boring, long and repetitive. Should there be rest spots during a beating?... This had lame overdone NWO/WCW beatings written all over it. I wonder if Flair had flashbacks of the desert.

-Victoria/Trish vs. Molly/Jazz- Trish is in the defensive early taking vicious snapmare/necksnap combo by Molly. Trish hits a forward headscissors from the corner on Molly and tags in Victoria. Nice summersault into an armdrag by Victoria. Widow's Peak and the pinfall on Molly. I think Trish & Victoria played up well that they aren't necessary friends but are put in a tag match together and wanted just to get the job done. As Victoria and Stevie celebrate Trish exits stage left... But Test (who I thought it was Chrisitan at first) knocks down both Stevie and Victoria. Test ready to powerbomb Trish as Christian runs in to help her. Ahh I think this is a plan between Test and Christian. Come on, they are wearing the exact same type of blouse. Thinking about it that blouse is very lady like.

-Michales vs. Benoit- I enjoyed this match on the most part, don't know what Lawler's doing making short jokes, and JR saying what great action happened during the break (umm thanks?)... One spot after Shawn made it to the ropes from the sharpshooter and ref pulled Benoit back HBK came with a desperate chinmusic as Benoit catches his foot and hits a German. Very cool! The finish, ahh expected. The aftermath with being a 3way for the title. Again, expected but I don't like it for a main event world title match.

-OtherStuff- Jericho wants to give Trish a flower and give his true feelings and asks Christian to hold it, BAD MOVE... Trish is going to visit Jericho in the hospital in her sweaty little tights, LoL. Christian gives the flower and puts his arm around Trish's hip. CLB indeed... I'm hoping Vince/Bischoff next week and not Wrestlemania... I don't get Gayda's and Stacy's deal, but I'm sure there will be a long angle concerning it... Benoit confronts HBK backstage in a battle of the day old stubble, Very smart not giving away who's turning heel by having both grow stubble, Wait does this mean HHH is turning face... I understand it's presidents day but what's the point with president speeches coming back to the show.

-Sign of the Night: "Honkymania"
-3Stars of the Night: 1)Benoit. 2)Victoria. 3)Michaels

This show was pretty piss poor until the last 45 minutes. The wrestling in the main event was fine, the women match was decent enough. Victoria looked great (in more ways then one)... But the first 75-minutes was pretty bad, especially the top of the 2nd hour with the Foley beatdown that never ended and came off really boring. Jericho squash right before it wasn't much better. And the sloppy tag match before That wasn't any great shakes either even though I liked the result.

Some quotes from wieners: Fuel "There's one way to make it clear that you're a babyface now and that's wearing little yellow booty shorts!"... Were you having Hogan flashbacks while looking at Victoria, brother? That's just wrong LoL

5thHorseman: "when Victoria, Trish, Molly, and Lilian were in the ring before Jazz came out, I commented to my friends that all of the 4 ladies in the ring were hotter than the all 4 that are fighting over who is the hottest in the WWE and who should have been in Playboy. Obviously, that's just my opinion. I know many will disagree with that.... I certainly won't disagree. I think the 4 you mentioned could very well be the best looking in the company and all so diverse mmm diverse.

VanillaSky: Can someone please explain to me how HHH/HBK is "nearly 10 years in the making"?... I don't get that at all either. I know exaggerations is used at times but this doesn't make any sense. What 10 year build up. Didn't these guy have a their big feud __ years in the making match in Summerslam 02. They also played hot potato with the World title at the end of 2002 with winning the title off eachother. What exactly is this 10 year build they are promoting.

7 is nearly 10. Moreso than 5, or 3, but not quite so much as 9.
Therefore, it has been nearly ten years.
Besides HBK was just trying to make it sound more important to Benoit.

In every field of entertainment, be it sport, TV whatever, it is the job of the marketers to sell it as well as they can. As a result this often leads to hyperbole. 'Match for the ages', 'Clash of the Titans', and 'Most anticipated match/show in years' are phrases used with gay abandon across the board, and while nobody really takes them too literally, they do help to garner public interest.

I'm sure any Scottish Wieners will back me up when I say that almost every Rangers/Celtic game over here is billed as 'The Biggest Old Firm Clash in...' ya de ya and nobody bats an eyelid.

Michaels and HHH have been interacting since around '96, which was around 8 years ago give or take the odd month.
8 years is, without question, the best part of a decade.

The Summerslam match never marked the end of a feud, but the in ring return to the WWE of Shawn Michaels. The 3 stages of hell match later that year was doubtless originally planned to be the last meeting of the 2. However as HBK is now not only working full time once again, but also arguably the most over face on either roster, plans doubtless changed.

Is the build up exaggerated? Sure.

Should we care? No.

LOL, thanks CB I needed a chuckle

Just wanted to comment about the whole HHH bashing SD thing...I think that along with Heyman putting SD up on a pedestal (not to mention JR reminding us that Raw is the Flagship promotion of the WWE) is a good thing. There are two separate brands now, might as well do something with that as far as storylines are concerned. HHH should claim his title is the best...hell, Lesnar (whoops, now Guerrero) should step up and say that no, HIS is the best. I think the interbrand feud has potential, perhaps not as a watered-down version of InVasion but as a long term rivalry. Just my two cents on that one.

Overall I think WWE's programming has been entertaining as of late. I'm not real happy about the triple threat main event for WM either as I was hoping to see Benoit get a nice clean win over Hunter but, alas. My other question is...what do you think about Guerrero vs. Angle? I'm hoping Eddie gets to run with the ball for awhile...

Is it just me or does the Undertaker/Kane build up remind you of the Hulk Hogan/Warrior build up to that Halloween Havoc match?

I'm not saying that I don't like it. I enjoy cheesy supernatural wrestling as much as the next guy.

A while ago, I believe back when Austin was a co-GM, he started calling Christian a Creepy Little Bastard, CLB. Actually, I think he only did it once, but JR's really latched onto it since then, and brings it up whenever Christian does anything.

Before I get to my opinions for Raw, I really have something personal I have to say. It is with a lot of sadness that our dalmatian had to be put to sleep tonight. Dixie lived to be 11 years old, which is older than a normal dalmatian, and lived it very well. Of course, we spoiled her by having her sleep on beds, mainly mine, sit on couches, etc. She was going well until a couple of weeks ago when she just did not eat anything. It kept getting worse, and I found out that we were going to put her down when I came home from work. For the last few nights, I was getting teary-eyed about her and how much I will miss her. It will take a couple of days to get back to normal. She has gone to a better place, and left this world "on her own terms."

Slightly back to wrestling, what I do every week is to create a sign of what program and where it is located. For this week, after hearing of Dixie being put down, I decided to use the "cow-spots" font, which resembles dalmatian spots. Also, if my comments are a little short, I'm still a little saddened, but I should be back to my normal self in a couple of days.

---Dixie...August 1, 1992-February 17, 2004
We will never forget you!!!

Now, to the main reason for writing, wrestling.

1) HHH/Benoit/Bischoff...is it A or B, does he even care?

2) Booker/RVD vs Flair/Batista...a little surprised about the change of titles. Foley interference was the key to RVD/Book winning the match.

3) Kane/Jericho...stinker of a match, very one sided. Then, we get to enjoy "Taker Horror Theater" (along w/blue lights). Then, we get to see Kane get rained on. Guess there is one person not taking a shower in the back, because he's taking his shower in front of the crowd and the cameras.

4) Orton/Foley...this lasted way too long and too one-sided. This reminded me of a couple of the WCW beatings, that had me saying, "Guys, that's it. Stop, please." Lawler actually took one of my lines...to JR "How about you going to the ring and saving him."

5) Austin/Bischoff/Vince...I had to laugh a little when the camera moved to the right while Bischoff is talking and seeing Vince there. Vince & Austin on each side of Bischoff...strange. Vince in his wrestling gear next week, I say to myself, "Ugh, just what we need, another 50+ guy in wrestling gear, so much for another youngster's push."

6) Diva's match...We had to stop here for a while so my parents had to go take the dog in. Match, ok, which leads to my next thing. This Jericho/Trish/Christian angle, I may be in the minority, but end it soon. I know geemoney wanted to know why I was not interested in the angle last week. I'm just waiting for the blow up.

7) Benoit/Michaels...this was definitely the match of the night. Great match by both. I made this thought about the surgeries of the 2 combatants. If they had those surgeries about 20-30 years ago, they definitely would not be doing this right now. Of course, this led to HHH coming in, pedigreeing HBK, which led to Austin's arrival and making the WM match a triple threat match.

I know I was a little off tonight, but should be back to normal by the time I write on Friday or sometime during the weekend. See you then.

thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU. I never check WWE site for photos, but your post caught my interest and there was not just a photo of Stratus but also Garcia, Happy Days! I've got a new user photo for the time being... I know you were probably a little disappointed with no Victoria from the backside photos(and I agree, she sure looked amazing) but I'm certainly happy with the photo you did mention. Guess like the saying says, one person's unwants is another persons treasure.

I think Jim Ross and I are the only people who dig the CLB name, I chuckle everytime I hear it because I always thought it kinda fits. He does have a creepy little look, I think it's the beady eyes... I think Edge or Jericho once said in an interview back in the E&C days that Christian was the world's ugliest pretty boy

Couldn't think a good line of the night when I did my original post but I now thinking I did like Ross and Lawler commentary when Christian ran in to save Trish... ROSS "The CLB just saved Trish".. LAWLER "How can you say that he just her".. ROSS "I guess even he can do a nice thing once in a while".. Okay I'm totally paraphrasing here, but it was something like that. I thought it was funny that even when Christian is saving a babyface woman out of instinct Ross calls him a CLB

dMr, I understand your reasoning with WWE just hyping. I don't know if I actually care so much about it. I just find the 10 years in the making coming off really obnoxious. Much like Overmind example of "Greatest moment in our sport" or "The most important night in our industry" is just seems silly... Especially coming of Royal Rumble were they hyped the last man standing as "this will prove who's the man" just to have a copout draw ending. I just personally feel HHH vs. HBK have exhausted their limit of cliche hype slogans.
