Originally posted by MatchesFrom that my hope is that they will not just play a stupid "arab heel" angle, but using Hassan as a neutral guy with face tendencies, being led astray by his radical and militant heel manager. I wouldn't mind that.
Actually, I really like that idea. This is probably the best way to go with Hassan and Daivari, without going over the edge. Hopefully, WWE creative will take this route.
Is anyone else getting the feeling that Maven will wind up being "injured" next week, and Ric Flair will wind up feeling slighted and turning face to replace him at Survivor Series?
I'll refrain from commenting on the Muslim characters, as I only watched RAW until the SNL Presidential Bash started. Seems like a bad idea, but there's a chance they could play it right, I guess.
EDIT: Oh, and the new "fuck everything" tweener Bischoff rules all.

"It's not a matter of whether the war is not real, or if it is. Victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. This new version is the past and no different past can ever have existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Eurasia or East Asia but to keep the very structure of society intact." ---George Orwell, 1984
If they play it seriously, the two arab characters could be pretty good. However, if they go for stereotypical characters, this can only be bad.
Think about how compelling it could be - a guy who tries to live his life in a devout manner, all the while being misunderstood by those around him. He makes friends and all but, when they find-out his religous beliefs, his friends become uneasy. IT's so real-life (because stuff like that DOES happen in real life) that it'd be hard NOT to come-down on one side of the fence with the character.
Of course, I could just be placing my hope in the WW writing team, again. And that is one of the quickest ways to be disappointed.
Some people need to learn how to take a joke. I'm ScreamingHeadGuy, and I approve this post.
-Snitsky vs. Eugene- But First, backstage Regal wanted to walk to the ring with Eugene. But Eugene wants to fight his own battles... Some pretty weak hits by Eugene, or maybe Snitsky just doesn't know how to sell. Snitsky hit Eugene with a "no baby" sign & finished Eugene off slamming him on the slow children sign in the 4 minute mark. Pretty passe. Snitksy is going to really finish off Eugene as he puts a chair around his neck but Regal ran in to save him.
-Flair/Batista/Bischoff interview- But first, We have a new backstage interviewer Maria from divasearch. Didn't she lose? Why is she hired. Why do we have 2 months of that crap just to see Carmella on PPV & now hire Maria. Do they just want to show our votes count for nothing! Guess getting us ready for today election. She interviews Tajiri but he gets attacked by Flair & Batista... Flair & Batista is out to ring. Batista is totally stylin'. Flair says Bischoff better come out hair or the lockerroom will be destroyed(oh those chairs & lockers cost money!). Bischoff walks out & makes survivor series matches. Benjamin/ Christian, Trish/Lita(gawd NO, WHY). Plus a SurSeries match of Orton/Y2J/Benoit/Maven(?) vs. HHH/Batista/Edge/Snitsky (?). Bischoff is tired of Evolution as they didn't help him out when he was getting his head shaved.
-Christian vs. Hurricane- But the big news is Edge Returns! After a long one week hiatus, he's back and SHILLING. His entrance is hilarious & rules it's completely over the top & self-indulgent. First time in FOREVER, that I heard a entrance for the first time & liked it. He's doing a hard pitch for his book, it COULD have been better if the fans voted him to wrestle for the World title, but that didn't happen did it! He calls JR the grumpy grandpa but signs his book anyway... Don't worry wrestling fans you didn't miss much of the match as Christian & Hurricane exchanged takedown headlocks for 3-minutes. Christian wins with the unprettier. Benjamin runs out but Christian runs away but calls out his one night only problem solver, Viscera(?). Who flattens Benjamin.
-Dean interview- I heard some mixed reviews of this online. For me, this was one of the worst debuts I've ever seen. I thought the material he used was horrible... Plus can we go two weeks without a plant fan incident, SERIOUSLY. This couldn't be any worse than Muffy one (or was it two) TV appearances. Hey maybe she should come back, she'd be better than Maria.
-La Resistance vs. Benoit/Edge- Benoit is out first with no Edge. Edge comes fashionably late, again with the over-the-top exaggerated entrance. Benoit wrestling a match as Edge his jumping around the entrance area hyping the crowd (that's great!). Benoit goes to tag Edge but as suspected Edge short arms him and walks back to the entrance... Edge is once again doing commentary, all Edge, all the time & I like it. Edge actually looks up like he's annoyed that there's a match on while he's selling his book. Talking about his great career, which could have been better if the fans weren't so close-minded & voted for HBK instead of him (Edge is so telling the truth. I HATE wrestling fans too, ah no offense guys). Benoit tries his best 2on1 but La Rez finally get the win becoming tag team champions once(I like La Rez, but there really isn't any other heel team in the entire Raw brand is there). Edge beats on Benoit aftermatch
-Benjamin vs. Viscera- This was horrible, Viscera smothering Benjamin for 4-minutes... Just to end with a weak looking dragon-whip that is completely unbelievable to knock out a man of Viscera size.
-Trish/Lita/Gail interview- Trish is reading my concerns! She knows the concerns for her wrestling the walking work hazard. That video package was amazing! The young promising Essa Rrrrios is shown then vanishes. I can't believe they actually mention Emmy nominated & cult favorite Dark Angel as Lita did the show & immediately got cancelled. One by one they show how Lita steals the heat of who she's with & hurt their career. Ha fabulous, Lita really challenges Torrie for Ms Heat vacuum award. Trish again addresses her fans, they're a bunch of hicks but still her fans & she luvs them anyway(ah, sweet). This could have been the best Trish interview ever but she mentioned Lita baby(err leave that to Snitsky) & that was lame... Speaking of lame, here's Lita. Lita does what Lita always does, make who she's on screen with look weak by dominating & ramming Trish's neck into the mat. Doesn't she do that EVERY week.
-Orton/Jericho/Maven vs. Batista/Flair- It is really strange seeing Evolution being out-numbered and out-witted. Can't say I complain. Oh Maven almost fell off the top rope setting up his missile dropkick (that would have hurt his main event credibility, yeah I know play along). The faces take turn out dirty playing Flair... HHH music plays & Flair's face lights up but HHH looks smaller and more Asian than usual. Batista takes turns taking all the faces finishers, eww Jericho almost ran into Maven when setting up the lionsault but Maven moved at the last second. RKO game, set, and match for the babyfaces.
-OtherStuff- HHH cuts a promo infront of an old weekend afternoon wrestling backdrop rich with internet smarkish, saying he's the reason people come to the arena & WWE gets any profit(HHH studies fuzzy match)... Todd Guy chats with Edge who says he'll defend the title tonight, no doubt. Should be no problem for Benoit as Benoit claims to have won it on his own at the PPV... Maven walks into Evolution lockerroom, Flair & Batista surrounds Maven for his foolish act but Team Face has Maven's back...
Flair & Batista doing a lot of WALKING this week on RAW, barges in Bischoff's office. Eric makes a main event match with Evolution they say HHH isn't here, he said he doesn't care... This Hassan character has not good written all over it... Juicebox? That really was one of the worst sales pitches I've seen in wrestling. I don't even know what it is. They show the "Do not try this at home" WWE warning? This was as bad a promotional pitch as a sponsored pizza being delivered without ever saying the name of the company.
-Line of the Night: Trish "I can see the concern in all your faces, my fans. You are all rednecks but you're still my fans" -Sign of the Night: "fleurs de lis, quebec flag" -3Stars of the Night: 1)Edge. 2)Benoit. 3)Trish.
The show was very high on personality tonight. Edge was on in every aspect, from the music to facial expression watching the tag match to what he said. Trish interview was a classic, gotta love the video package on Lita, as detailed as it was(remembering Essa) there's still even more chapters that they could have put in, remember Dean Malenko last feud. Trish is doing a good job on her end, too bad it's being wasted on Lita. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't build it that Lita is unmatched physically like they have. The tag title match was good & the main event was entertaining... Opening match, the IC title stuff & the two new characters that were introduced (Dean & Hassan) was not good IMO. Mixed bag this week on Raw.
smark/net attack wienerville advisory holds at ORANGE alert - High (JBL is STILL WWE champion and now smarks arch enemy HHH is the World Champion. Major red threat, but the undercard seems okay. The alert holds... for now)- 9/19
Big show at OVW tonight. No, I'm not going to go all nuts like some of the online reviewers and claim each week's taping was the greatest wrestling show in the universe, but it was definitely a fun show this week.
