I watched the Stanley Cup Final instead of this show - it was ALSO disappointing!

So after officially stripping the absent Daniel Bryan™ of the WWE® World Heavyweight Championship, The Authority™ announced that the seven-man ladder match at Money in the Bank™ would be for the title. Joining Alberto del Rio as participants were Sheamus™ (beat Bad News Barrett™), Cesaro™ (beat Rob van Dam™) and Randy Orton™ ("on vacation" but determined to be deserving of the spot).

Dean Ambrose™ and Roman Reigns™ were booked in a 6-man with The Wyatt Family™, and after an hour of audible concern from our commentary team about how would they EVER find a tag team partner, John Cena® stepped up and ... ah, hell with this. I don't really want to start this thread either.

Bo Dallas' gimmick has got loser written all over it. In fact, I'm shocked it wasn't used in a late 90's WCW, where he could preach to his Bolievers on the Mothership, before getting squashed by the Disco Inferno.

Sheamus never loses. Ever. If anyone who keeps track of this tries to tell you otherwise, they are damn dirty liars. Every bloody IC or US champion since the dawn of Kofi Kingston has promptly lost every single match they participated in for the rest of their careers, EXCEPT Sheamus who's booked as the soulless translucent equivalent to Stone Cold.

Look, I loved me some RVD in 2001 and all; but Van Dam He's Old - and if he's simply interested in driving below the posted speed limit, then perhaps it's time he consider opening up a legal dispensary in SoCal and call it a night.

They did what they could with Daniel Bryan, and the timing is nice because we've got a modern day spin on the '92 Rumble. Maybe this CM Punk cat can steal a win at Money in the Bank; despite the fact he hasn't won a match since January, the fans keep chanting his name.

But seriously, Bradshaw, what's on your mind? Could you spell it out for me? I'm far too stupid to understand otherwise.

Strong promo from Ambrose, who I haven't really been impressed with on the mic to this point. This was better than your usual response to a heel turn; but then the Shield has hit every point since their debut, so I shouldn't have doubted.

Well, it didn't take Cena long to go from defending his buddy Daniel Bryan's right to have a title to being down with the next hottest act The Shield. It certainly is their right to have Cena shoehorned into everything that is great, but I am using my right of falling asleep on the couch around hour three and waking up to the sounds of Chrisley.

Seth Rollins ... Yeeesh.

Alicia Fox's attack on Aksana would have been a great heel turn - popcorn surely surpasses R-Truth's dastardly water bottle as the most deadly of improvised weapons - if it weren't for the fact that both women are already heels. I can't help but wonder if her insanity angle isn't a result of someone in creative hearing the phrase "crazy like a fox" and then seeing Alicia's name shortly thereafter.

I watched the Cup game, too. Don't have a comment other than to say that I'm impressed at CRZ's ability to distinguish ™s versus ®s.

EDIT: I take that back. I DID get to see Ambrose go off on Rollins and I realized that THIS is where Ambrose can make himself a star. When The Shield was intact, it was each member spouting off a bunch of cliches ("Hounds of Justice", "Believe in The Shield", etc.). Now that there's a new motivation for Ambrose, he is showing how well he can really work a mic. I'm looking forward to more twists in his storyline which I believe will really allow Ambrose to showcase his skills.

Anyone notice that the WWE was a little edgier last night?

A few instances I can think of:

-Summer Rae and Layla's segment: Summer Rae pushed Layla's boobs and Layla fell spread-eagle onto the makeup table showing her underwear

-A number of instances of the word ass - I'll beat your ass, I'll kick your ass, I'll shove it up your ass

-"You don't piss in the wind" from Roman Reigns.

No complaints here, but maybe they're progressing past their PG crap.

"Hey, you guys like The Shield? Cool, 'cuz now I'm in The Shield, too!" -John Cena, the Google+ of Sports Entertainment, who would also like access to your bookmarks and cookies and would love it if you'd import a friends list into your contacts folder and if you'd just enter your phone number here for verification purposes, but don't worry, he won't sell it or use it for anything other than as a way of resetting your account in the event that you forget your password.

Ambrose was great on the mic, Reigns cracking up at Ambrose being great on the mic was great, Ambrose doing a mic drop and then realizing that he basically dropped the punk card on Reigns and making a deliberate effort to stop Reigns from having to pick it up only to further make Reigns laugh was great, Rollins was OK selling a so-so motivation speech (cliff notes: "Turns out I'm evil"), Orton getting put in the MITB match automatically was fine, Rollins apparently not getting put in the MITB match automatically even though that would have been the easiest way to justify his turn was less fine, Bray Wyatt returning after having been reborn into Bray Wyatt was huh OK, Sheamus continues his reign of Great Matches With Terrible Finishes.

I dunno. Make Luke Harper World Heavyweight Champion or soemthing. Blow it up!

WWE production misses another important spot by going camera crazy and whiffing on the spear on the stage. Production was always known as a strong point, but there is a pattern if sloppiness starting to show up every show.

As much as I hate seeing Cena with The Shield I really like the Ambrose/Reigns buddy duo. Even moreso after their blowout a few months ago. I hope they let those two pal around together even if they breakup and go do the singles thing.

Reigns actually mentioned Game of Thrones, I always thought that was sort of a Triple H hush hush thing.

Lana busting on Obama is interesting because I don't know what kind of response they are looking for.

"Daniel Bryan sitting at home must be shocked to learn he has been stripped of the titles", was a big talking point. Yet his belts hang above the ring. Did he not notice they were missing? Are they duplicates and we are going to get a Razor/HBK who is the real champ feud?

I'm 50/50 on whether they split the titles up again.

That's really all I've got this time

I wouldn't hold out hope just yet. HHH saying he always wins is the number one problem with this show. The second problem is Cena always wins. So, last night was the culmination of both.

Cena is more than likely going to win the belt and face off against Brock or Batista at SummerSlam. That is a money main event none of those other guys are money makers. I feel bad for Bryan. He clawed his way to the main event at Mania, gets the title and is meet with the black hole of suck of Kane. Then he gets injured. Then he has emergency surgery that seems to go badly. He is probably off SummerSlam. Hopefully, he will come back stronger unless they decide that he is too risky and leave him in mid-card hell.

John Cena is still (apparently) feuding w/ The Wyatt Family, so it makes sense for him to come out to even the odds. Plus, he didn't even figure into the finish, as Roman Reigns picked up the win for the team, so I'm unclear why there's a problem here.

Roman Reigns got the win for the team while Cena wasn't even in the ring, so I guess *technically* Cena won, but, y'know, Roman Reigns.

Was I the only one who thought -- for just the briefest of seconds -- that maybe this was all a setup to totally destroy Cena and get him off TV for a little while for a break? That Rollins didn't REALLY turn on The Shield, that it was all planned out and the entire Shield was turning heel together, but Rollins was just a decoy to sucker in Cena for a five-on-one beatdown?

Man, that would have been kinda fun to watch.

That said, both the Reigns/Ambrose duo and Rollins solo got more crowd reaction than The Shield did together. So maybe creative knows what they're doing here.

My prediction for next week in the Who Is Goldust's Tag Team Partner contest: GoldCody.

I get people's dislike of Cena tagging with the Shield, but I think it's a leap from "I dislike this because Cena" to "this is actively badly because Cena".

Cody first turned heel when Ted Jr. promised a "mystery tag team partner" to beat Cody and Hardcore Holly for the straps. There's a nice synchronicity there if Cody brings back Ted, they beat Goldust down and Cody declared him the weak link in their ex-partnership due to him winning more titles with DiBiase than with Goldy.

Ambrose was on FIRE. After that promo, it seemed he was absolutely homicidal. Reigns going ahead and calling Seth "scum" was pretty damning and summed it all up.
There's just something so odd about Ambrose, isn't there? He's a compelling character. It's kinda like WWE took that kid from my playground who was always putting boogers on the girls and made him a star.

Interestingly, Meltzer says WWE's thought process is that the vacant title is just a temporary detour, that Bryan/Lesnar was still the SummerPlan, and if Bryan can get healthy in another month (easier said than done?) he'll be champion again.

If that's the case, then the winner really can't be the crowning moment for a new heel like Cesaro or Bray, and would have to be an interim champ like Orton or the demon Kane. I'd prefer Orton just because no more matches with the demon Kane, and technically Bryan never bothered to beat Randy for the title. But Roman Reigns' promo seemed to lay out his PPV itinerary for the summer (beat Orton, then beat Triple H), so I dunno.

Former champion or no, Del Rio is kind of out of place in the MITB field, not having done anything since November. If it weren't for Cesaro, then ADR+Sheamus+Orton as the championship field would be an Age of Abrockalypse dark timeline from if CM Punk had actually left the company in July 2011.

You'd think Cena, Bray, and the demon Kane would round out the 7 guys, but that leaves uneven bodies for the Shield's PPV matches. All I know is that if there is in fact a second ladder match for a briefcase, Adam Rose needs to get tipped off a ladder into his crowdsurfing bit. Now let's brainstorm spots for Bo Dallas in the match.

Grabs a ladder and does a mid-match victory lap, mowing down 3-4 guys in the process. Gives pep talks to all of them saying one day they'll have the instinct to get out of the way.

I want to give credit to the lighting crew for the work they did during Rollins' promo. Getting the lights shining down from above rather than the side as they normally do completely hid Seth's eyes in shadows, which gave him a creepy vibe you normally don't see in speeches like that when you're able to look into the eyes of the talker. I have to assume that's something intentional they did, because I sure don't remember Rollins being eye-less in any of the Shield promos he delivered.

I picture Bo and Kofi doing the fatigued slow climb on opposite sides of one ladder, and a starry-eyed Bo is shouting inspirational motivation through the rungs like "we're doing it! we can accomplish anything!" Then they get to the top at the same time, and when Kofi reaches for the case, Bo hugs him and throws him down. "Never stop trying to live your dreams!"

Then John Cena throws the steps at Bo to knock him off.

I like Ambrose alot but his attitudes about facial surgery are questionable. Fantastic promo by him and Reigns. There is just something about Ambrose's cadence and body language that cracks me up. I'll never get tired of him.

The more I'm looking at the this Shield split and how Triple H character works the more I'm thinking that the real plan isn't "HHH uses Rollins to officially break up The Shield then plays Palpatine to Rollins' Darth Vader" but is instead "HHH uses Rollins to officially break up The Shield then the following RAW turns on Rollins because he is no longer required"

If the latter is the case it could lead to a double swerve on Rollins resulting in a face-heel-face turn, in which Rollins fooled by power has to start from the bottom. The Shield is effectively forced to break up by a match stipulation, the only two guys that truly had his back hate him, the Authority used him, and no one in the locker room trusts him. If Rollin's character goes through a face redemption path back to top that could be a solid story. I think maybe we are seeing future roles of post-breakup Shield members now: Rollins the Redeemer, Reigns the Avenger, and Ambrose the Maniac.

Those titles come off like bad Dark Horse comic book names also, but youget my point, maybe?

I believe in The Shield....
