It's true. Imagine Raw without that main event. The show-saver once again. Is there a darn good reason why that just wasn't on Survivor Series? Is there a critical finish to a Beard And The Best And Yes Connection vs. Wyatts tag that couldn't have happened on any Raw?

Granted, the new Traditional Survivor Series match with the mysterio partner looks very good, though I fear it will be hindered by the scourge of too many eliminations.

If Rey gets swung will his body detach at the knees?

Weasel heels are forced by authority heels to get comeuppance from top heels, putting heat on ... I DON'T UNDERSTAND. The Vickie/AJ thing in particular just seemed to be A Rib on AJ for passing out in Europe.

Why are Randy and the McMahon-Helmsleys never on the same page. What's the point of a top heel group. fuk. Y'all fools booked yourselves a dud of a title program. The good news is Randy has cool new pajamas. I hope next week he comes out with three icepacks.

At one point Ryback was supposed to win the World Title at Wrestlemania 29 by shellshockeding the Big Show. It didn't quite work out.

Xavier Woods NEEDED to duet with R-Truth on "Gettin' Rowdy (Bout 2 Move Some Thangs)" in order to complete a 13-year-long ritual of rebirth.

Hey country Raw was so country! I ffwdd through the concert but remember when Edge & Christian killed Joe C. by putting him in the garbage.

Last year right before Survivor Series, Miz turned babyface coming out of a feud with Kofi Kingston. So. A year of his life well-spent.

I watched this entire show on the replay when I heard (through my Kaitlyn hotline) that Kaitlyn was in the musical chairs segment.

Totally worth it.

Other than that, could this be one of the worst go-home shows they've done? I know that's easily dismissed as hyperbole, but this crowd wanted SO BAD to be a hot crowd, and the booking just refused to allow it to happen for more than a few fleeting moments at a time.

It was a glorious flashback to NXT season 3, sad AJ wasn't a part. Also 1st time we've seen Kaitlyn on Raw in a long time.

Good to see Big E win the IC title, now all they have to do is not job him out like they have all the other secondary champs (other than Ambrose, for the most part)

Ziggler was fun doing the JJ bit, but Sandow's shoulders were clearly not on the mat. They literally couldn't be.

Don't worry. He has a Championship Title now. Even if he loses all his matches, fans will think he's a big star because he has a Championship Title. Trust us. /creative

Oh, I dunno, I found several things to be entertaining. Watched it on the DVR, which I just finished about half an hour ago; here are some of my impressions.

(Note: These are not all in the "pros" column; there are some "cons" too).

We actually got a "LET'S GO, MADDOX!" chant from the crowd. Holy crap. And then Maddox smashing Orton with the microphone, throwing him into the ringpost, and suddenly realizing he's got the WWE Champion on the ropes. He hit him with a DDT and got a 2-count! But then IT WAS ON.

Ryback: "I've got a 10-count!" in response to a fan telling him to get back in the ring.

Big Show playing possum after the Shell Shocked, whipping Ryback into the ropes and knocking him out with the punch.

The Cesaro Section!

Miz rather telegraphed his heel turn with those insincere facial expressions of his as he reached for the Kofi tag, didn't he? C'MON, MAN.

Vickie faking passing out. Smiling as it looked like she was going to get out of it, and then screaming as she's carried to the ring.

She fainted again in the ring. JBL: "I believe her this time."

Fanning herself with Tamina's hand. AJ skipping along behind her as Vickie tries to retreat. AJ is just so gosh-darned adorable.

"Where'd we get all these guitars? Did Double J leave them?" And then Double J strut and El Kabong by Ziggler! "All we need now is Road Dogg as a singing partner!"

"Do I have your confidence as the face of the WWE?" "...We have to think about it."

Del Rio: "That was a great speech. You almost made me cry." "That's great, because Sunday I'm gonna make you tap."

Drew McIntyre's hat falling off on the stage!

The Shield and the Wyatts not getting along AT ALL until Bray Wyatt, maniacal genius peacemaker, quite deliberately tags a member of The Shield.

The Shield and Wyatt Family all rush the people on the apron and prevent Bryan from tagging. Why they only did that once I have no idea.

And we have Rey Mysterio returning! I guess he's the fifth man.

I had no real problems with this show - even Cena is working in his pared down role - aside from the utter pigshit mess they've made of this Authority storyline. All the random matchmaking, people suddenly wearing suits and non-existent face/heel dynamics just remind me of Vinny Ru's stint as the Powers That Be when he first rocked up in WCW.

TITLE CHANGE STATISTICS

WWE Intercontinental Championship
New Champion: Big E Langston
Previous Champion: Curtis Axel (155 days)
2013 Title Changes: Fourth

This is Big E Langston's first reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion. Despite the on-air claim that this was his first championship ever, Langston has also held the NXT Championship, which he carried from 12/6/12 to 5/23/13. (Air dates: 1/9/13 to 6/12/13). The announcers were correct, however, in classifying this as his first "major" championship.

Langston has also held the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship; FCW has since become NXT.

At a billed weight of 290 lbs, Langston is the largest wrestler to hold the Intercontinental Championship since Big Show's reign from 4/1 to 4/29/12. Before that, you'd have to go back to JBL, also 290 lbs, from 3/9 to 4/5/09.

Both former NXT Champions have gone on to win gold in WWE. Seth Rollins, the inaugural NXT Champion, won the WWE Tag Team Championship with Roman Reigns. The current NXT Champion is Bo Dallas, who thus far has been seen only briefly on the main roster.

Langston's win ended the 155-day title reign of Curtis Axel, which began on 6/6/13 at Payback when he won a triple-threat match against champion Wade Barrett and fellow challenger The Miz. Axel's reign was the longest with the title since Cody Rhodes' first reign, a 236-day reign from 8/9/11 to 4/1/12, the third-longest of the 2010s, and the 25th-longest reign of all-time.

It wasn't a terrible show, but it was a terrible mess of a show. Everything felt really disjointed, and I found myself really tuning in and out. I thought Vickie's comedy match was really funny, and I'm almost as delighted as the Miz is that he's a heel again. I also thought Maddox hit a really awesome-looking DDT. Other than that, I was not super into RAW, especially the fanfare-less return of Rey Mysterio. To me, that would have made a lot more sense billed as a mystery partner going into Survivor Series.

Loved the 12-man match to end the show, that's what I was expecting for Survivor Series. I would've wanted to actually see the PPV if that was on it.

Amusing to see Punk & his mortal enemy Rey Rey so happy to see each other at the end of the show.

Man, that Blake Shelton song they played at one of the breaks was the most horrendous thing I'd heard in quite some time.

Mocking AJ's serious health scare to her face on national TV...that's pretty low, even by icky WWE backstage politics standards.

Musical chairs on RAW without Jericho and the Naitch? Unthinkable!

Is it bad that I watch a fair amount of wrestling and stay somewhat informed and yet I have no idea what the matches are for Survivor Series other than Show/Orton.

I'm especially confused after all the run ins last night. I know I can look it up, but I shouldn't have to. They are just all over the place these days.

I think they've made Cena/Del Rio and The Beard Of The Voiceless/Wyatts pretty clear.

Modern country does not disappoint.

If this was a two-hour RAW, it would have been a really good one. Several things actually happened on the show (Rey's return, Big E winning the IC Title, Xavier Woods debut, Ziggler/Sandow was entertaining, Miz heel turn I guess?).

I loved JBL calling out how stupid the musical chairs bit was.

I've never run a wrestling company, but I can't imagine getting to the Monday before the Survivor Series PPV with only three matches announced. It can't be THAT hard, right? It seemed like there were some pretty logical pairings of teams you could have thrown together in advance.

You know what hurts a lot of these Survivor Series matches? The lack of team captains. If they actually had hierarchies to the teams, and team names as were suggested by Dr. Unlikely last week, it would be the easiest thing in the world to get excited about any random pairings on Sunday. That's literally all they have to do.

That said, I think the 5-on-5 match they came up with could be a pretty good one.

As long as the Randy Orton thing isn't a swerve, I like how they handled that tonight. The Vickie Guerrero thing was stupid. Why not just lay on the mat?

Well at least the Miz is a heel again. Now he can go back to pre-PPV matches in his natural heel role instead of his awful face role.

In what doesn't sound like a good sign, Rey Mysterio was limping backstage after Raw.

Thanks for coming, Ray! Time for your Mark Henry buh-bye speech.

WAY OUT THERE GUESS: Daniel Bryan joins the Wyatt Family...or is "The Devil." Only because that's the kind of awful decision this company seems capable of making right now.

I was mesmerized by how little sense the opening segments made. The Authority enters to a face pop. Orton interrupts to a MEGA face pop. Orton gets a face reaction when he yells at The Authority. Vickie and Maddox come out to heel heat. The Authority punish them (drawing a face pop) by pitting them against...other heels. Then Maddox plays chickenshit heel against Orton, only to draw a huge face pop when he actually got offense in. Orton had to practically murder the man to get any kind of heel reaction.

SO. WEIRD.

So am I the only one who noticed the Sid Vicious-level mess up in the opening segment with Orton and HHH?

They're face to face in angry-man mode, and HHH is *supposed* to ask Orton "Just who do you think you are??" Instead he asks him "Just who do you think YOU'RE TALKING TO?" Which makes the scripted response "The face of the WWE and the World Champ!" very very confusing.

Does that mean the voices he hears in his head is simply when he talks to himself?

The best part was that they went ahead and replayed it later in the show.

I only got to the end of Ziggler-Sandow last night, and this was a definite highlight for me too. Close second was the incredibly runny nose of The Big Show during the Ryback match. Highly entertaining as the lovely Mrs. whatever was completely grossed out. Get well soon, big fella!

Even down to the smallest details, HHH can't help but turn things around so they're about him instead of the other guy. This angle and company in a microcosm.

I go 50/50 on the "shoulda saved it for the PPV!" mindset, but I was genuinely stunned to see them give away Ryback picking up Big Show like that, Show kicking out of it and that match ending clean. Why not save that as a huge spot for the Rumble?

Ziggler/Sandow needs a rematch at Survivor Series where Sandow tries to get home field advantage by having them fight in an orchestra pit. Then they can do the tie-breaker at the Raw Christmas Show by having them fight each other while surrounded by a Salvation Army Band.

Rey showing up at the end felt like it should have been to set up Punk/Bryan/Rey vs. the Wyatts instead of adding him to the other match. And there would have been some fine symmetry in having Rey - who once returned after being kidnapped by Kane for months and not really giving a damn - come back to face the Wyatts, who had just kidnapped Kane for months without Kane really caring.

Not even bothering trying to take a run at these team names, as they are top-notch. We're all still floundering on a Punk/Bryan name, though. Killer B+'s?
