Agreed. We have reached the point where I am begging them to remove Lawler from commentary. Cole and JBL will do just fine without him.

What I *think* I get from your posts is that you think someone like Austin or Foley or Flair could have been positioned as an eventual counter to HHH with some longterm planning? An eventual savior, so at least it's not someone in the McMahon family that sees the lights and champions the cause of Daniel Bryan? Is that what you're trying to get across?

    Yes

Then you're batshirt crazy. I get it, long-range planning is ideal. But to say that they should have a THREE YEAR plan of attack on one angle that seems very likely to have been spurred and created totally by the insane crowd reaction to one Daniel Bryan -- something no one could have seen coming -- is just not possible. You're grasping at straws, my friend.

I also think it's pure silliness that you seem think the WWE couldn't pull out any of the people you mentioned out next week or month -- Foley, Flair, Austin, and probably a couple others -- and do exactly what you're suggesting. Foley was commish. Flair was what, owner? Part owner? Austin had wars with the McMahons, and coming back to general another battle (even if "appointed" by Linda) would seem extremely logical with the right story.

None of this. The whole reason the story is working is because it's Daniel Bryan vs. the Corporate Machine. Not throwbacks completing a system of checks and balances to give Daniel Bryan something.

Yes, this is setting up Daniel Bryan vs. HHH at some point, perhaps even at Survivor Series when he gets screwed out of the title at October's PPV.

Now if Austin or Foley shows up and tells DB and Show it's okay to stand up to the corporate structure, and that's how they made their careers, that's another animal. However, the emphasis so far seems to be Daniel Bryan, the wrestler, not the Sports Entertainer, going up against the wall by WRESTLING, not Sports Entertaining.

I agree. He looked just tickled pink to watch his son get "beat up" on national TV. It seemed like seeing his son wrestle live was a unique experience.

As someone who grew up in Cleveland, all I can say is that Mr. And Mrs. Mizanin are two of the most Parma-lookin' people I have ever seen in my life. There's really no other way to describe that look.

As good a job they're doing building heat on Big Show and Cody as retribution seekers for the side of good -- and hopefully Ziggler will now start to become a real part of the feud and not just a guy getting beat up -- I really wish they hadn't done any of the Wyatt stuff and Kane could make a big return as Bryan's greatest ally. What if Kane's music had hit last night right before Orton stomped the chair omgggg.

I'm all for more Uso/Shield matches, but the Americans' turn and Shield challenge should definitely happen. It seems like they'll have to wait to feud with the Matadors first.

Solid RAW. Found something to enjoy in just about every segment.

It's nice that Bryan will be at least a three time WWE Champion before he gets a real reign. I think we went from the best WWE Title side plates to the worst (not crazy about the red).

I do, however, feel that whatever they added to meaningful title changes since CM Punk began his year-plus title reign is now lost in the Bryan/Orton shenanigans. It's making for some good TV, but ultimately, they could be doing a similar storyline while keeping the belt on Orton, which I expect him to regain sometime in the near future.

Also, I feel it hurts it for when Bryan REALLY, REALLY wins FOR REAL next time. Nothing can take the magic away that first win he had over Cena and initial Orton MITB cash-in, I think SummerSlam 2013 will still hold up as meaningful, but next time Bryan wins, I don't know if it'll quite mean the same.

I get what you're saying, but Bryan isn't painted as the type to be a dominant face champion. That's Cena. He's supposed to be the guy who is completely vulnerable outside of the ring. And inside, if there's no bell run and no referee. In short, his looking like a bit of a chump here and there is what makes him so amazing as a face and pretty much why myself and the WWE Universe loves the guy. Infallibility is the trait we're all tired of and harp on about when anybody says "Super Cena". It's the trait that HHH is exhibiting, very well might I add, as the true heel in the whole story. If the twist comes that he won't even hold a tourny, just holding onto the belt himself, well, wouldn't that just be icing on that cake?

If Bryan stops being a scrappy underdog that gives 110% in the ring, Bryan ceases to be.

Now when we get to that point where Bryan is defending his belt against all comers without a corporate villain tie-in that as someone pointed out is also killing Orton's cheers (and face it, there was a definite girl scream pop when he came out for his match against Miz), then awesome.

Shapiro, your notation is flawed ;D. I too am excited for the tag division since there is so much talent involved along with that odd out-of-left-field phenomenon that the Real Americans have hit upon. Kinda like Daniel Bryan post WrestleMania 28. Look where he wound up.

Mind Blown about Austin/Razor Ramon.

Ziggler has gotten kind of dull since turning face. Let him be the snarky sarcastic douche, all cool heel style.

The US Title is now more prestigious than the IC Title. Last thought.

Oh damn it. That's what I get for doing my own quote tags, I'm an independent man. Years ago I petitioned to make one of "Big Bad" and "Big Daddy Loco" change their Big to Garrison, but there's been no traction on that.

I would also entertain an alternate history where Cesaro has been in Curtis Axel's spot since its inauguration and now takes over in Ryback's spot. Hey, where did Wade Barrett go after he lost the cage match last month? Is he off TV until his beard grows back? Is he working house shows? Could I just google that? Maybe Wade is marrying Cody Rhodes. Maybe Wade and Kaitlyn eloped.

What's disappointing is Lawler was a fantastic listen on the Steve Austin podcast...but he just seems to be mailing it in on Raw.
