Did anyone catch the genuine look of disappointment on Cena's face when he announced he was leaving for 4-6 months and everyone cheered? It's one of the few times it looked like it got to him and he didn't smirk it off.

I'm not sure he understands how burned out the fans are on him.

Wow, I think you read that completely wrong. In the couple of times I watched it (because it was funny), Cena's smirk when they cheered was like, "Ooooof course you're happy." I didn't read it as Cena getting upset about it, more like "Yup, I can always count on this." Cena knows what's up and has always understood it. He's been getting at best a 50/50 reaction for about 8 years now. He is completely hyper-aware how audiences feel about him.

Well, the joke's on them because it sounds like Cena will be back sooner than expected(again). I sometimes wonder if the guy just regenerates like Wolverine.

I think it's probably a combination of modern minimally invasive surgery techniques, effective physical therapy, good nutrition, and a bit of Cena's freakish genetics. A friend recently had a serious back surgery with an expected recovery time of multiple months and she was back to normal in half the time because she eats well and followed her physical therapist's advice exactly.

Perhaps he was shocked at just how big an a** the crowd could be?

Italics for emphasis. Too many people don't follow directions, and I suspect that recovery times are estimated based on how few patients actually do what they're supposed to. You estimate on the long end.

And as for Cena and the crowd, he's been playing to their boos for at least 2 years. He knows exactly what's up, and I love him best of all when he works with that in mind. I read his look at that crowd as one of genuine affection for how much they hate him.

I don't care how much confidence and high self-esteem you have, when the character you play is pretty much yourself and an arena full of people cheers you announcing your absence, that has to sting.

(though after seeing his Tampa mansion on Total Divas, I can't feel too sorry for him)

when did the giant elephant walk in the room?

Everyone who ever gets caught using PED explains they were only using them to recover quicker from some injury. I am not a doctor and no idea if that actually how it works. I have not idea if John Cena uses any non-so-legal substance (only that he always says he hasn't, and other people say he has.)

What I do know is WWE only tests at their shows, there's no equivalent to out of competition testing in some drug policies. If there's some substance out there that will allow Cena (or anyone else) to get back faster, he's free to use it if he wants to use it.

I'm not trying to sidestrack this into a PED debate, but if you're looking for reasons ways Cena may be able to be normal medical estimates, that may be a reason.

Very valid and interesting argument. It really comes down to what the WWE considers a PED.

As someone who has performed in front of a live audience (thought never the magnitude of a WWE crowd), Cena just sticks to a keystone whenever the crowd starts to boo the hell out of him. He's a professional.

In fact, when they do, if he was really snarky, and wanted to go uberheel, he'd tell the people in attendance they're nowhere near as grateful as the children he meets via Make-A-Wish.

Well yeah, Victoria is a 10...but she loses a point for the goofy dance she does for her intro's. Well either way Molly is proof that you don't need plastic surgery and a rock hard body to still look good in wrestling.
