Alberto Del Rio's great rival, the high-flying hero to the Latino people

Damas y caballeros! Aqui es mi gran honor de introducir a ustedes senor lunes noche, un porrero celebre, todo el maldito espectaculo, el orgullo de Battle Creek, Michigan...

Big thumbs up to the tone of all the Factgime segments. Steph, Maddox and HHH all have smarmy corporate condescension down pat. And Orton's emotional palette may be limited but judging by last night he can pull off "obsequious" just fine while the announcers get him over as a douche. Perfect villains for our time.

Heyman and Punk were wonderful as usual, but if this is headed toward Punk/Axel in 26 days, how on earth are they going to convince us Axel has a prayer of beating Punk in a PPV singles match? If they really want us to take Axel seriously they can go straight to a "Punk gets to beat up Heyman if he wins" stip, but it seems a bit early to start playing that card.

OK...I haven't watched in months and months, but it turns out that leaving my 10 1/2-year old daughter to Youtube herself to death this summer has created a closet WWE fan. Monday morning I said "wanna know what happened at Summerslam?" which led to this convo...

DAD: "Daniel Bryan won."
IJ: "YAY! :D"
DAD: "Then Triple H beat him up and Randy Orton cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and won the WWE title."
IJ: "..."
IJ:

So I decided to DVR Raw and surprise IJ with it and OH MY GOD it was the BEST. "Dad, how come they stomp when they punch?" "Brock Lesnar scares me." "The Usos have a cool entrance." All highlights among many.

And I REALLY enjoyed the episode. I think I feel about the same as everyone about the Daniel Bryan/McMahon stuff, can I just say how AWESOME Dolph Ziggler is and how GREAT it was that Roman Reigns killed him flat DEAD with that spear? RIP Ziggler. Tu es mort.

IJ: "He did REALLY GOOD since he had to take on all three Shield guys alone. I though Ziggler was going to get killed."

Then she asked me to buy her a John Cena shirt on the way to boot camp this morning. <3 even if she wouln't let me convince her a Punk or Bryan shirt is the way to go.

Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

I am so happy for you, this is the same joy I have in sharing WWE this year with my girls, now 9-1/2 and 8. We are praying to get tickets to the 9/16 show and dearly hoping that World Champion Damien Sandow will be present. Meanwhile, they have been using their action figures in their dollhouse, and my youngest continues to insist that I give her the World's Strongest Slam to tuck her in at night. That's what we do!

As for this show - loved the literal passing of the torch from Cena to Bryan, and I will love watching the chase and eventual capturing of the title.

My daughter is only six months old, but she's at least usually sleeping in her pillow next to me when I watch RAW.

I have ambitions to try and make her a Daniel Bryan fan early. Since he and I have the same beard, I think I've got a shot.

Just going to echo the statements of others;

Punk is absolutely in the conversation about greatest mic workers of all time. Just consistent greatness.

Joe Henning should be called Joe Henning.

Heyman was most impressive in staying straight-faced during the dueling "fat guy" statements.

Sin Futuro.

It's uncanny how much JBL sounds like Vince on commentary. He must do one hell of an impression.

I love how this angle is going. Both Shield matches were great for different reasons and told different stories. If this gets them back to unstoppable status, I'm for it.

This was just a fun show. This story has been told before, but I still like it and the new characters will add to it.

King's explanation of how the Wyatt family got an asbestos blanket from "some firemen sitting ringside" was hilarious. Firemen never go anywhere without their asbestos blankets. They are Linus.

Little thing about RAW;

- Dolph says stuff in interviews blatantly not caring about what the bosses think, he gets SHIELDed.

- Mr. Iron Clad Contract got SHIELDED.

The twoo guys who WOULD save Bryan were gone. Clever.

I wasn't 100% paying attention at this point, but is that actually what he said? I thought it was a comment about how there were firemen ringside because, ya know, it was a RING OF FIRE match and they had to be there for public safety reasons -- and that's who they stole the blanket from, not some random fireman at ringside.

During this match, with the commentators going on and on about Dolph saying things about the company he works for that he shouldn't, I couldn't help but wonder if this was some kind of weird public punishment for Dolph criticising Cena in a recent interview.

I don't think it was, as Dolph didn't get squashed and actually looked good in defeat, but the thought definitely crossed my mind. It reminded me a little of the days when the APA would stiff the shit out of someone who had done something they shouldn't have (Perry Saturn roughing up a jobber on Velocity leading to him taking two of the nastiest looking powerbombs you'll ever see from Bradshaw after a loss to the APA on RAW for example).

WWE doesn't like people to use their real names because they can take that name with them. If they call him Curtis Axel, that's a character and owned by the WWE. Correct?

Yep. Since the WWE cannot copyright someone's actual name, if that person leaves the WWE and wrestles somewhere else under the same name, the WWE can't do anything about it. Since they're investing money and time in that character, they want to have complete control over it. I think that's the same reason they change virtually everyone's name that comes over from the Indies nowadays too - so essentially they create a new identity from scratch that they have every right over. In fact, CM Punk might've been the last indy guy allowed to keep his indy name and identity (for the most part).

The CM Punk "Best in the World" Blu-Ray actually points out that The E wanted to run him through the Random Name Generator, too, but Heyman personally lobbied to anyone that would listen that this was a terrible idea and, obviously, he won out.

I still maintain that the Random Name Generator is one of the company's more mean-spirited practices. Is The E really going to suffer all that much if a guy like Matt Sydal takes his act on the indie road? For every Daniel Bryan, there are going to be 10 failed Bo Dallas's, so why hold the poor guys back by throttling their monikers? Let them have their names. It's not going to kill the company as much as they seem to believe it will.

But doesn't it work both ways sometimes? Like since Colt Cabana never used that name in WWE, he was able to go right back to it after being released, rather than it becoming company property, like with the Dudley Boyz. (Those very well might be totally different situations, but it seems to line up in my head.)

This is why they do it IMO, and I dont really have a problem with it in that sense. What they need is a BETTER Random Name Generator that spits out less corny names, or at least ones that roll off the tongue a little better.

IIRC, Bubba said in a post-WWE interview that when they jumped to WWF, Paul told them that the Dudleyz name was never trademarked so they should jump on it while they still could, but they regretfully never got around to it and lost the chance to use it when they left ("Devon" is D-Von's birth name, so he got to keep it).

**UNRELATED SIDE-NOTE: In that same interview, Bubba also said that he and D-Von were (one of?) the first talent(s) to have their contracts come up after Jim Ross was replaced by John Laurinitis in Talent Relations, and he voiced his displeasure with negotiating with JL saying something like "If it was still JR, the Dudleys would still be in WWE" or some such. I always wondered why he thought JR would've made the difference. Wouldn't Vince have had the final say either way?

Actually, he transferred the CM Punk trademark to the WWE, however it was registered in such a way that if Punk leaves the WWE, they can't transfer the moniker to another person because the trademark explicitly says "The name "CM Punk" identifies Phillip Jack Brooks, a living individual whose consent is of record."

Mission accomplished, tickets acquired for the 9/16 Raw. Surprised the girls with the tickets tonight, they are already planning their signs!

Watched the Raw again tonight with the girls. Loved the front row clapping/dancing to the Wyatt family theme post-match.
