Really, I get up this morning and no one made a thread?

Well, so much for that Cena injury. If he was really hurt there's no way he'd go out and wrestle like he normally does. At least tonight the Shield got the win over him (again), but it seems like the Achilles injury is just an excuse to make The Ryback seem like more of a threat now that Cena's emasculated him over the last couple of weeks.

I think maybe a better way to make The Ryback seem like more of a threat would have been to not have him back down when Cena made fun of his genitals, but hey, I'm not the booker, am I?

Main event angle aside, tonight was a night of some pretty good, lengthy matches. I didn't have terribly high hopes when neither Cody Rhodes nor Randy Orton got an entrance for their match, but then they put on one of those potential star-making matches that could mean something if they get behind it. Same with Del Rio vs. Cesaro, Cesaro at least got to look strong in defeat. His Shoryuken really needs to beat someone sometime, especially since he never seems to even attempt the Neutralizer anymore.

I liked the backstage segment where AJ thanked Ziggler for getting him a present. "Oh, Dolph, you shouldn't have." "I didn't." And then she gave him The Look.

I also liked Michael Cole making a correction based on presumably angry hordes tweeting him during a commercial break to correct the nickname 'Zigglepuff' to 'Zigglypuff'. If only Josh Mathews were on commentary, the connection to Pokémon might have been explained.

I think that's all from me. Anyone else still out there who wants to comment?

I fast-forwarded more of this show than any in recent memory. Just couldn't even pretend to care.

Why did Del Rio pick a ladder match when he's in against two guys who've both won Money in the Bank? Shouldn't he have been looking for some sort of advantage? Maybe a white-guys-in-handcuffs match or something?

It is murder listening to three guys fill any silence longer than three seconds, and it was horrible during Orton/Rhodes. The babbling going on while Orton set up the superplex was horrendous. As was the narrative about "potential/all the tools." There are two heel color men, and they're both talking like morning anchormen with interminable ribbing (who can make the most dated reference! chuckle chuckle chuckle).

Cena worked the crowd great for the wish kids.

Signs still point to a tag champ Shield vs. Team Burial (Cena/Taker) at Summerslam. That would let the WWE give us the feuding-tag champs angle for Mania.

The Bella Twins look even better without makeup. That reality show seems to have already rescued the divas division, now with the twins/Funk and Kaitlyn/AJ feuds.

There were four really solid matches last night, but the rest of the show was so blah it was hard to get very excited about it. The lack of truly over guys and stars really hurts the product when the true stars like HHH, Brock, Punk, Jericho, and Taker take the day/week/month/summer/year off.

This was the first time since going to three hours that I'd watched an entire RAW live. I usually skip around after it airs (west coast advantage!) or read results and watch only the good parts. Wow, that was bad.

Was anyone else super confused by the beginning, with all three managers facing each other in that triple threat? There was no real explanation for it and it just started with them all in the ring and ready to go at it. There wasn't even a "GM is crazy!" explanation.

I liked the main event and the continued push that The Shield is getting, Ziggler/Kingston was sorta entertaining, and I really hope they're setting Ryback up for a huge loss because nothing that he's doing is really working for me.

One thing that really dragged this show down for me that it was almost entirely about setting up the World Title match at Extreme Rules, and that's one of the more boring matches on the show.

I don't like WWE's latest booking philosophy on centering the entire show around one match per week. They did this a lot during WrestleMania's buildup ("This is the HHH/Lesnar week!" "This is the Cena/Rock week!"). If you have a three hour show and three big main events, it makes the most sense to use an hour to set up each match every week if they don't all involve part-timers.

But man, I'm just watching this show waiting for SOMETHING to happen. Anything.

Are we honestly reaching a breaking point, as a board, when it comes to this show? I can't remember the last time it took this long to start a Raw thread. The apathy is strong in us.

The shows are just dragging sooo badly. Raw's become a bloated monstrosity. It's got all the same pacing problems it did when it was two hours, but now it's an hour longer. It feels like the show is constantly treading water, and we're all waiting for something to happen. That's why Fandemonium a few weeks back was such a big deal; even if you didn't like what it did to the show, it made the show feel dynamic. I said this before; there's no excuse for Raw to ever be boring. The best talent anywhere in the world is working on this thing, but it sure doesn't feel like it. Raw is stagnant, it's just three hours of recaps and video packages. You could run the same actual show in half the time without all the filler, and it would be better, fresher, and more entertaining. The worst part is, all that stuff trains the audience to not care about what's going on, because if anything exciting happens, you'll see it again later. The commentary team contributes to this as well, as they do anything and everything in their power to pretend that a wrestling match is not going on in the ring in front of them. It feels like the WWE doesn't care about its own product; why should I?

I'm actually starting to get into NXT. Even on that show something within that self-contained world happens.

And, even the fact that a lot of the talent is green grounds the show in some sort of reality that makes it entertaining. I like watching them stumble through interviews.

It's clear that WWE has capable people on the roster and even talent that can be good, but everything on RAW just feels like it's moving storylines forward in slow motion.

The announcers said multiple times, including the top of the show when Ricardo was on his way out, that the match was a result of GM shenanigans on Smackdown. Lawler then questioned if Teddy Long was sane or not for booking the match. If I was younger I'd be asking why the assistant to the GM can book matches on another brand's show, but I've learned over the years to not expect an iota of consistency or sensibility when it comes to WWE storytelling. (That, and the WWE is in denial over the brand split becoming extinct.)

I was more confused by the match suddenly going no-DQ so the title contenders could get involved. "It's triple-threat rules! No DQ!" That's ... not triple-threat rules.

WWE Triple Threat matches are always no-DQ, it's a side-effect of them not having elimination rules. Without a no-DQ no-countout stipulation, what happens when someone does get disqualified? Which of the other two wrestlers picks up the win? In an elimination match the DQed wrestler would just be eliminated and the other two would continue, but that doesn't work in a "one pinfall for all the marbles" situation.

WWE tends not to mention that Triple Threat matches are all no-DQ until it becomes relevant to a given match's storyline, probably because they don't want Triple Threat matches by default to degenerate into overt cheating, foreign objects and ignored rope breaks. But it is the case for all Triple Threat matches they have.

I almost started this thread, but I had nothing much to say about it.

Orton/Rhodes was a great match.

3 man announce teams are the drizzling shits. Always have been. There's just an extra voice floating around there for no real reason that swaps echoing one or the other and we could just consider 'the bored voice'.

They should just split 3 man band up. 3 times the jobbing power and we get to actually build other guys, like Cesaro, et al.

And why were so many introductions cut short and Alberto Del Rio gets multiple?

My bad. I was doing something during the first match, so I must have missed where they mentioned this. It was still a little confusing to just launch into the match like that.

Curious to know where they're going with the Kaitlyn "secret admirer" angle. Could they rehash an NXT angle where Sasha Banks had a secret admirer who ended up being another diva who ended up beating her in a match or something.

All three guys have cashed in MitB. If that's retroactively used as a justification for the stipulation, then I'm all good with it. Also, there's a very good chance of this match stealing the show at Extreme Rules.

Side note, this is also a battle of three current superstars who'd benefit the most if they'd never had their first world/WWE championship reigns. Del Rio could've shocked the world when he beat Big Show for the WHC on Smackdown for his first major title (Ignoring both of his pointless WWE title reigns), Swagger would still be chasing his first world title, which for me personally, adds so much to the chase over what he's doing now. Lastly, Ziggler's cash-in might have somehow been even more awesome if he'd never had that cup of coffee with the title way back when. Side note to the side note, Sheamus' also would've benefited from having his Wrestlemania win over D-Bryan be his first championship, not because of the manner in which he won it, but because the reign grew into a strong successful one.

The debut of Daffney by reusing a TNA storyline she was involved in? I'm really interested in where the Kaitlyn v. Aj match is gonna go as they had a preliminary title match on the last NXT episode that was pretty righteous and that was months ago. I feel the rematch on a bigger stage could possibly put a spotlight on a new and better Diva's division.

Wishful thinking, I know.

There was a precedent WAY back in 1998 when there was a Rock-HHH-X-Pac triple threat for Rock's I-C Title...Rock took a walk and got counted out to save his title, leading to some confusion over the official "winner" of the match.
