It was amazing how quickly they sucked all the fun out of the Fandango "craze" with just one video package and Lawler promo...and was that supposed to be a face turn? Or not? Or what?

I really, REALLY don't want to see my main man D-Bry (or anybody else!) doing a flying headbutt on my TV.

Did JBL try and make a joke about Lehman Brothers' shady business practices as a comparison to the 2-on-1 handicap match at the start of the show?

I noticed this on SD!, but AJ has totally taken "how to hold a belt during a match" tips from Heyman.

Also, unless I missed it at the start of the show, was there zero acknowledgement of the Boston bombing? No respectful moment of silence, maybe led by Cena? The 'E is usually good at that sort of thing...

The Ryback promo was surprisingly good. It also made sense. The rest of this show made very little sense.

It seems to me like they shit the bed with Fandango last night. The 15 minutes might be over, but he can still be a solid performer just maybe not this crossover star they thought he might be.

Jobbing all the champs (except Cena, natch) to set up new feuds is the laziest of booking methods. And they did it three times last night.

I do look forward to Taker and Bryan interacting next week.

Last week's show was a bag of turds too, but the crowd turned it into something special. That didn't happen this week, and isn't likely to happen anytime soon.

Kofi and Cesaro at least have new options now. Cesaro was becoming a stagnant champ through no fault of his own, and Kofi is perpetually the most marketable superstar they never move to the main event. That gives me a smidgen of hope for both guys. I'm glad to see he hasn't been forgotten, especially as longtime nemesis Dolph has the world title.

So that's two title changes on Mania Sunday and three since then. That's a prolonged champion shakeup (except for Barrett getting his back).

Don't be so sure about that, they're heading on a European tour next week.

The thing that annoyed me most on the show was Antonio Cesaro losing the title unceremoniously. If that happened so he could move up to a World Heavyweight Championship feud, then I could accept that, but with Swagger hanging around in that picture that doesn't seem likely, at least not immediately. And this is a surprisingly long between-PPVs cycle too. Extreme Rules isn't until Kane's favourite day, May 19th?

I do appreciate that they're trying to make Dolph Ziggler a tweener champion, wrestling as a face vs. Swagger on Monday and as a heel vs. Jericho on Friday. I don't appreciate him losing to Swagger like he did though. If they wanted Swagger to win, couldn't they have done some kind of screwjob ending where Colter interfered to cost him the win? Yeah, the presence of AJ and Big E might make that harder, but it's not like they've got a perfect record at ringside. Getting pinned clean like he did really doesn't do any favours for his momentum!

Oh absolutely.

Winning the title (it's not a belt!) by way of the Money in the Back briefcase almost hurts a wrestler's run as opposed to being the stepping stone the WWE wants it to be.

Unless the winner is an already made superstar (ie. Edge) they need MORE protection after winning the title to build them up. Taking a guy who lost something like *every* match he's been in for the past six months and giving him the title doesn't erase that six month losing streak. They need to win the title, and then get a hot streak going to justify that winning it wasn't a fluke.

In short, the winner needs a strong push. Unfortunately the WWE doesn't seem able to do that for even their biggest stars anymore, let alone a midcarder trying to move up the ladder.

Well, no, not really, but it certainly doesn't seem like they have any real plans for him. I'm willing to wait and see, though.

The complete non-reaction to Fandango after the "FANDANGOING IS EVERYWHERE!" hype package was AMAZING.

Ziggler's stable is perfect for weeks/months of title-retaining shenanigans. MITB is fine as a booster rocket to move a wrestler up to the main event, but Ziggler has hovered there already, and he hasn't risen any higher with the belt. Beating Jericho through team tactics? Good. Losing to Swagger less than a week later? Bad.

Speaking of pushes and stagnating losses, the last time I figure Cena was pinned for a loss? The Sept. 3 RAW. Seven months ago.

Swagger pinning Dolph like la di da one week after Ziggler was the biggest star on the show was plum stupid, but Swagger is just a means to prolong a Del Rio chase, giving Ziggler a guy to pin in the threeway before they get to the singles rematch.

3MB's promo was brilliant.

I hated the Fandango gimmick when it was in its promo stage. It started to grow on me little by little. When Jericho beat the crap out of him on RAW and he grabbed the mike to pronounce his name right, I thought this could be a decent gimmick ala Santino. Watching the crowd sing his theme was awesome. But all along in the back of my head I kept thinking that with such a simple gimmick that should run its course and be something the crowd will enjoy, somehow, someway the WWE will screw it up. And they did. They took gold and turned it into tin.

There is no way Fandango should be I the ring giving a monologue that goes past pronouncing his name. They should have had Santino in a singles match beat a jobber, and then have santino dance. Cue Fandango's music who comes down to the ring all smiles and then beats on Santino and gets on the mic and says "there is only one..........Fandango" and the leaves to his music. Or anything else besides what they did.

Fandango had a place in the mid card as some heel comic relief. But they botched it by shoving him further down our throat. Tick tock Fandango. Thanks to Vince your 15 minutes is now down to 10.

Life is hilariously cruel.

I haven't seen anyone give much credit to the amazing job Drew McIntyre's been doing, he's obviously having a blast being so absurd. Last night he made some reference about sending The Shield on the "Highway To Hell," and a few weeks back, he started a promo with "Whoa, oh oh, sweet child o mine!" More silly Classic Rock references please.

Yes he did. Just the kind of topical, crisp humour that adds that piquant touch of fun.

Yeah, no acknowledgement. Initially I thought that odd, but I assume that Vince basically said don't touch it til there's more information about who, why, & how bad. And, it was so soon that there were certainly people in the crowd -- & particularly children -- who didn't know anything about it. At the top of a 'rasslin' show is not when & how one ought to learn that kind of news.

Totally agree! I don't know how long he's going to remain in the doghouse, but I've always really enjoyed both his work & his promos. At least he's got a gimmick he can work with, he's getting TV time, he's getting to work with a breadth of people. Keep makin' that lemonade, sweetie!

RAW started like six hours after the bombs went off. I think it's safe to say damn near everyone in that arena who cared to know already knew by the time the show started. People have smart phones; people talk.

The deconstruction of AJ is bothersome. Not so much because they can push and de-push whomever they want, but because it seems so mean spirited. It has gone from Lawler making his joke or two to the whole announce booth going on for 2-5 minutes about how much of a slut she is. Once again it is a character who got over organically, got pushed into a role that didn't work and she wasn't suited for and is now in another role that is pretty good for her only they would rather talk about what a whorebag she is. They do the same thing with a dozen other people, but if they stopped trying to humble the up and comers on the rosters maybe these shows wouldn't suck. Hashtag broken record, hashtag beating a dead horse.

How has everyone missed that the guy from Ghana brought the U.S. Title "back home"?

Oh yeah, because paying attention to this show was EXTREMEly painful.

Y'know, it was probably for the best they didn't do anything re: the Boston bombings. Whenever WWE does a tribute they always manage to turn it into something about them and it just comes off...I dunno, I want to say "icky". Maybe there are good intentions when they do this stuff, but even when they did the Sandy Hook moment of silence a few PPVs back, I just had the sense it was more "look at WWE doing a classy tribute" than "let's honour the victims". Also got that feeling about the cancer campaign with the pink ropes. And the look at how brave we were after 9/11 puff up after they got bin Laden. Etc.

RAW sucked. Regarding Cena/Ryback, they already killed Ryback when they had him lose five straight PPV matches, the most recent and high-profile of which he lost by dropping a fat guy on his own head and knocking himself out. This is probably the best thing for him. And I didn't get the sense Ryback was scared of Cena, so much as biding his time. I also thought Cena was particularly awful talking about what's between Ryback's legs. Dude, you were marching around like Freddie Mercury and then charged straight into a clothesline. It wasn't a Tonya Harding thing. No one in this company knows how to book babyfaces anymore.
