They THINK they are telling stories. Some of us think otherwise.

The Punk bit was funny, but the rest of the show was pretty bad, other than that triple threat. I agree, that match should be at WM29, not Fandango.

Rock being unable to be there two weeks in a row really hurts the show, and they did nothing to make up for it. Cruise control at its’ worst.

As you said, and others here will have better insight, I think the problem is that someone isgetting through to Cole and Lawler, and it must be Vince himself most of the time telling them very specifically what to say, so no is not a likely option. I mean, NXT 2-3 should be proof that Cole is a lot better at intentionally goofing on segments when left to his own devices than the Raw version of him being told to say "this thing we're showing you stinks!" has ever been.

I agree with your general point, though. I have no faith that they get or will ever get what makes Maddox work, but it shouldn't be that hard to figure out how to make better use of Titus or Slater. Ryder, of course, is a warning on not trying to make better use of yourself, I guess.

He didn't get the reaction he wanted during his first potential announcement. It came after the "YOU TAPPED OUT!" chant at SummerSlam, and reaction on Raw was farily muted - remember him just basically waiting in the ring until the crowd finally got the message to chant for him? So he's rebooking himself a better retirement video package.

The only good thing about Brock/HHH/Heyman last night was Heyman teasing that they were going to show the HHH crotch stain footage, only to showing a black and white version that tried to downplay the stain under cover of the no-blood policy.

Props to Big Show, though, for winning this year's Wrestlemania Sign Mime stakes. Not so much for the extended point to the sign he did, put for the little "Gentlemen?" head nod he gave to Orton and Sheamus standing on the apron after that.

Still, there's a part of me that wishes they flipped this match the other way: book Ryback/Show as originally intended, and have the Shield accidentally incur the wrath of Mark Henry. The Hall of Pain being the force summoned to break the Shield would be a much better payoff, and Henry as the wildcard Sheamus and Orton need to be afraid of would be more fun than Show. (Also, it would tease my dream SummerSlam match of Corporate Heel Cena vs. reluctant savior Mark Henry.)

That sparkly fireworks silhouette thing of Fandango they lowered over the ring for him this week seemed like proof that Johnny Curtis and whichever person in the back has this as their pet project are the only people having any fun on the Road to Wrestlemania (besides Pancake Patterson). I like the idea that Fandango's entrance is going to get more and more elaborate as he gets closer and closer to actually having a match. And I very, very much want this to climax with him having a massive, 20 minute, obscenely expensive entrance at Wrestlemania (with Jericho impatiently waiting in the ring) only to immediately eat a Codebreaker and lose in under ten seconds as a mirror payoff to Jericho's silent blinking jacket return. Every other segment of this RAW was the equivalent of the Shockmaster falling through the wall.

Punk dropping the urn was hilarious. "OH SHIT!" That was amazing, the 2013 equivalent of when the Summerslam sign fell behind Mean Gene. (popscreen.com) Undertaker must have thanked God he wears that hood because they actually cut to Taker's reaction and he looked like he was burying his face trying not to break character and laugh.

And then the segment just ends limply with Punk fizzling out and Taker pacing around the ring. It was Nitro-riffic!

Heyman popped me with the Loser Gets Stephanie line. My joke when Brock finally came out was, "Brock is pissed! He just found out at the end of WrestleMania he might have to go home with Stephanie McMahon!"

I know I would have preferred the stipulation of Loser Gets Stephanie over Part Timer MUST Retire!

What kind of t-shirt was Heyman wearing under his suit? Was it an old ECW shirt? Three Wolf shirt? I couldn't really tell.

Heyman's endless hate of Steph is also entertaining. But does anyone disagree that ending up with Steph is a major upgrade over Mrs. Lesner...?

Pretty sure it was a BRRRROCK LESSNER t-shirt.

Question: is there some flavour-of-the-moment pro dancer from DWTS that they could be bringing in as Jericho's valet? It's pretty much the only way I can make sense of their Fandango thought process.

Maybe I'm not paying super close attention (not "maybe," I'm totally not), but hasn't Fandangoo been accompanied by a different (probably local) ballroom dancer each time?

Oh, you sweet mark. That segment was surely pre-taped and the drop completely intentional and scripted. How else do you think the crack technical director managed to actually mute just the part they intended to mute? They NEVER manage that kind of precision live.

This is correct. Still, Fandango has a type.

Oddly enough, in Canada at least, the replay of the urn-dropping afterwards went entirely unmuted though they caught it the first time around. I was wondering if the same happened in the US, or if it was just our censors slipping up.

I think you're both right. Drop was intentional, but Taker didn't know that it or the bleep were coming and appeared to, well, corpse.

This is why Ziggler/AJ(/Big E) vs. Jericho/Trish(/Christian) was my deep and earnest wish.

As flat as this build is -- shades of the booking for Wrestlemania 25 starting off hot and then falling apart due to second- and third-guessing -- it could still be a good show in-ring, and I'd like nothing more than a bunch of kickass matches between capable guys, but you have to wonder if...

Cena/Rock will be anywhere close to Cena/Punk on Raw
Taker/Punk will be anywhere close to Jericho/Punk on Raw
Del Rio/Swagger will be anywhere close to Del Rio/Ziggler or Jericho/Swagger on Smackdown
Shield vs. Sheamus/Orton/Show will be anywhere close to Shield vs. Sheamus/Ryback/Jericho on Raw
Jericho/Fandango will be anywhere close to Jericho/Bryan on Raw
Hell No/Zig y Langston will be anywhere close to Bryan/Ziggler on Raw
Miz/Barrett will be anywhere close to Jericho/Miz/Barrett on Raw

I would guess that the Shield match and Taker match have the best shots. I think Cena and Rock will have a better match than last year too.

If the Shield put an equal to or better than performance than their last two PPV matches, they will be the undisputed kings of the undercard. I would hope, and I have no way of knowing this, but I would hope if Cena wins the title, the Shield get slotted into the position as Cena's nemeses. Rotating different Shield challengers for Cena post-WrestleMania would keep things pretty fresh and they could make that last for a while. Matches between Cena and Ambrose would be very different from matches between Cena and Reigns, for instance.

I'd hope so. If WrestleMania 29 is Opposite Day from 28 as conventional wisdom expects, then the reverse scenario would occur. Cena dominated 28's match but lost. So you'd think opposite layout and booking of the match has it The Rock dominates the match and Cena wins. Which will be interesting because we haven't seen The Rock provide the bulk of the offense in a one on one match yet since he returned. He's usually the one on the mat sucking wind waiting for his babyface comeback spots. I wonder if The Rock has it in him to carry Cena this time around, or if that even occurs.

Otherwise, Cena dominates the match and wins. Which would be weird to see. Or Cena dominates the match and loses, which is the same thing that happened last year. Hell, I wonder if Rock can keep up an even-steven offense match like Cena and Batista had a few years back.

Have The Shield officially moved from agenda-driven heels to aimless heels? I don't know what they're supposed to denounce anymore.

I am pretty much hoping for the same thing. It is similar to Indiana Jones pulling out his gun and shooting the swordsman, and is one of my favorite ways of disposaling of bad guys. Only it would mean more if it lead to a more intense or at least focused Fangdano in the future.

Orton and Sheamus have taken the fight to the Shield's doorstep (which is the ring barrier) so the Shield is in counterpunch mode. Shield vs. Bros and the single angle Cena and Rock have done are maybe the only things I've liked in the build-up so far.

Alvarez's daily update says the women's match for Wrestlemania is

BELLAS, LAYLA, and TAMINA
vs.
KAITLYN, FUNKADACTYLS, and MARIA MENOUNOS

who apparently is on an Undertaker schedule. The inclusion of the Menoundertaker would almost certainly put that on the main card and not YouTube. Maria Menounos does rule but, yeah, great. Maria may also be inducting Bob Backlund.

Destined for YouTube is Antonio Cesaro vs. Some One, either Truth or Kofi I guess (Meltzer had Truth as of last week). Bryan says Kofi may be turning heel, from boom boom boom to boo boo boo. All that leaves is the Rhodes Scholars and the Funk Lords, who you'd think should just be rolled into the women's match.

Also, boy it sucks to be Natalya, Alicia Fox and Aksana. At least the first two got that big trip to Rwanda.

Man, this RAW sucked.

As does this year's Wrestlemania card. I'm not only NOT looking forward to the Undertaker/Punk match anymore (good job, WWE), the only matches I'm kind of interested in are Ryback/Henry (!) and the Ziggler/Bryan tag team match. The rest I couldn't care less about.
