I think the Paul Bearer/CM Punk bits was done about as tastefully as could be. There was no "Eddie's in Hell" moment or anything. The biggest reasons for my being okay with it are:

1.) For someone who has given his life to the art of sports entertainment, what better way to pay tribute to him in his death?

2.) If it's okay with 'Taker, it's okay with me ... I'd be willing to bet that if the Undertaker said "I'm not doing it", it wouldn't have been done.

No, but Bill Moody did willingly use a good chunk of his life to make Vince richer. And himself as well. So, I mean.

But points taken.

What I'm really sorry for is that you bought tickets to WrestleMania and are faced with an expensive four hour show you're probably not going to enjoy as much as you hoped initially. I think that's what really got you mad.

I have zero problem with how they handled Punk's tribute to Bearer in the beginning. If anything, I give him more credit, because I knew he was going to do it, but the actual delivery of "I want to extend my sincere condolences on your loss...at WRESTLEMANIA!" still made me laugh pretty hard. The only offensive thing about that opening was Lawler saying/being told to say he somehow couldn't believe how offensive it was that Punk was doing it when Punk and Heyman made fun of Lawler's own live on-air TV heart attack so recently.

That said, unless we get an actual cameo by Kama complete with Punk saying the phrase "Supreme Fighting Machine", I too hope the urn gets tossed aside (perhaps literally) next week and they can finally get around to letting Punk sell this thing.

Brad Maddox is amazing and I'm sad that 90% of the people he works for and in front of are never going to get what he's doing. That part where he was glad that they're going to commerical to give them time to clean the empty ring of the Jeritron and Jericho yelled "IT'S ALREADY GONE!" should be a hint to somebody that Maddox could be their WCW Jericho if they stop ordering Cole to keep yelling "This guy stinks!" over him. Please let him stay on TV long enough to give us whatever the insane Brad Maddox version of Jericho's 1,001 Holds List would be.

I'm throwing "Zig y Langston" out there as a name for the next tag champs.

Still bummed at the shoddy treatment Cesaro and Barrett have gotten lately, but it was nice to see Barrett probably has some good comedy chops. If they do go with a Miz/Barrett/Cesaro/Jericho double worthless title four way, two things could make it for me: Cesaro debuts the UFO on Jericho (who I assume would and could take it) and Cesaro ends up in the match but it's still somehow non-title.

I actually thought the first hour (All I saw of the show.) was very good. Dallas caused me to miss the rest of it, but I didn't once feel like falling asleep during the first hour, which is what has been happening lately.

Oh Dallas, you made me cry like a bitch last night.

Hey, I've been there. WrestleMania 25. I fucking went to Houston for that shitshow. Michaels vs. Taker I was the only saving grace of that trip. And Axxess. Go to Axxess, that can be a lot of fun.

I'll never forget the morning after WrestleMania 25 and dozens of fans I ran into who hated the show, all of us commiserating at breakfast about how much we regretted traveling to Houston for it. The guys from Scotland were especially pissed.

I thought the Punk/Lawler bit was show-ruining garbage, but I'm with the above posts on saying this was fine. PB was a cartoon character who embraced his campy place in wrestling. And like I said in my first post, based on Lawler, I was actually expecting far worse -- much harsher words from Punk, and the idea that Bearer was in the urn and Punk was going to dump it out at the end of the show.

Meltzer said last night that a few weeks ago, WWE realized it had no more female wrestlers and offered raises to everyone who's left. (Hopefully that extends all the way back to the future Mrs. Maryse Mizanin.) So far, Bellas were the only ones to take the deal.

There's time for it to get better, but I think whatever Jericho ends up in is the biggest dud. Miz had a longterm chase of Cesaro, and Jericho/Barrett could be great if it was treated seriously and Barrett hadn't been beaten forever. Instead we got ... whatever this is. For a guy who vowed after WM18 to never let himself be an afterthought at Wrestlemania, booked his own feuds with Michaels, Christian & Trish, Steamboat/Piper/Snuka, Edge, Punk, and invented MITB, it's pretty surprising to see him end up in this. It's like he left for two weeks and came back to find out what he was doing and they were like "errr, I knew we forgot something."

I didn't see Raw because I was at work but saw a few tweets about things. The Bellas aren't the best wrestlers but not the worst either ( Nikki is actually pretty decent, for a Diva ) & I'm a fan of them. So while I don't object to them coming back, I really don't see why WWE doesn't bring up the 4 NXT Divas they have who are more than ready for TV ( Paige, Emma, Sasha & Bayley). Even the others are progressing enough to be utilized considering that in general the Divas get shoved to the back burner anyway. I know this would leave developmental with only a handful of totally untrained girls, but since main roster Divas still do NXT on a regular basis I don't see it as that big a problem. And even though she's perfectly happy being the trainer, Sara could always be brought on TV too.

My main issue with the segment (aside from the obvious) is that they only really start to resort to low-rent stuff like this during stuck-in-a-rut periods.

02-06 (live sex show, Katie Vick, etc, etc)

Yes, the PB segment wasn't as bad as I'd thought It would be, but I'd rather they just aired the damn tribute and be done with it.

And I'm sick and tired of being constantly told by angry Punk and Heyman Marks that ''OMFG, U MOANZ ABOUT PG AN THEN MOANZ ABOUT STUFF LIKE THISSSS!!!! NO 1 CN PLZZZ U, STFU!!!!! Punk and Heyman Rulz best in the worlllld

:/

And I'm am Punk and Heyman fan.

No one said performers who die shouldn't be written out of storylines. The question isn't was this particular instance with Paul Bearer really that offensive; most have conceded it wasn't. Granted, when the bar for offensive is "Eddy's in hell", that isn't saying much, but let's go ahead and grant that. What us "indignant smarks" want to know is why this company cannot ever resist the temptation to sink to the lowest common denominator. Why doesn't anyone think "We could have Paul Heyman fake a heart attack to mock Jerry Lawler's real one" and then decide not to do that because it's repulsive? When they were recapping what happened to Jerry they showed EMTs working on him while he had no heartbeat. Do you think if Larry Hagman had keeled over during a ranch scene they would have done that? Even if Hagman had survived, it would never have been considered, because most people aren't warped and demented enough to think of that kind of shit. Even if it wasn't that bad this time, maybe this company just doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt anymore.

Incidentally, count me among those who loved Lesnar destroying the New Age Outlaws, and Heyman's subsequent promo.

If the crowd on this show is any indication, Punk may get more cheers than Taker at Mania. Undertaker may actually get some boos from those sick of his show-up-once-a-year and leave schtick.

I'll be there in person to find out. Section 231 baby!

Will be at Axxess Sunday. Any must-do's/must avoids at Axxess for those who have been?

My kids are already worried about not being able to see because of that roof tent thingy over the ring they use for outdoor shows.

Having never been to a stadium show, I expect the wrestlers to look like ants anyway.

I've not been to a stadium show, but judging by the way they've laid out past WrestleMania events, I don't think your view will be blocked by the tarp.

However, you should bring along some binoculars. Binoculars are inherently fun to use anyway, especially for kids, and pretty mandatory if you're really far away.

But don't bring just one pair, lest you turn what should be a wonderful experience into the Four-Hour Tug of War from Hell. Bring a pair for everyone, and a backup pair in case someone breaks or loses theirs.

Don't worry, I'm sure the rub from Luger that AJ received last night will benefit him when he's sent back to the X division. Hey, maybe he can team with Ron Killings as former heavyweight champions who have fallen from grace.
