This makes me want to hear an edited version of the Ass Man theme.

Everything about how they've handled the Undertaker's return this year has been weird. The way they casually showed the footage of his house show appearance and shrugged it off last week, the way he made his entrance before the show even started this week and it was shown on delay...the last few years, the idea has been that he's only come back each time because either someone has repeatedly begged him to come back or because he had some new movie making equipment and made that HHH tribute reel. But this year, he just kind of randomly shows up when the cameras aren't on with no reason for being there?

I think the most off-putting part was that Punk had started launching into the big promo we've been wanting him to cut for this ("I'll ruin the one thing you all value most") and then did that bit where people start wandering down and asking for the match. The only way to make that work is if EVERYBODY (except Cena and The Rock) comes down and tries to get in on it. Why wouldn't Mark Henry or Kane or Cesaro or Ryback or even a delusional, desperate Zack Ryder try to get in on that at that point? That might have made the show work: Punk starts to cut the money promo, everyone comes out and steals his thunder and he just gets disgusted and leaves and lets them all destroy each other until next week.

That said, I did enjoy the continuity of Randy Orton as the guy who just wanders out and says "Can I get in on this?" like he did when he won the belt off Christian. I'd have taken it a step further and only had Undertaker show up after Orton remembered he could summon him by looking into a mirror.

I do have faith in Punk being able to make this work with the time he has left to sell it, though.

Am I wrong in thinking it was odd to not have The Shield involved in the ending? They basically called out Show/Orton/Sheaums and might still be on Punk's payroll. Now they have they have to come up with another reason to have Show, Sheamus and Orton standing around together to get jumped, when they could have done it last night, complete with a double lights-out fake out (lights go out, crowd cheers for Undertaker, it's The Shield; lights go out again, smug Punk now face to face with The Undertaker).

Yeah, that was great. I think they tried to cut away when he leaned in to give her a peck on the cheek, but then just said the hell with it and showed him out there singing.

Elsewhere, it says a lot about how terrible they are at maintaining a mid-card when they have to send the US and IC champs out there to lose. I appreciate that they gave Cesaro a lot in the Ryback match, but it seems like he's mostly losing non-title matches now.

I have no idea who they put against Hell No with Rey out again. Or even who they put the belts on if the idea is still to have them face each other. They really should have lost to Rhodes Scholars and done a month chasing and failing to get the belts back before going into the break-up match.

HHH getting a relatively lukewarm reaction to his ASSKICKER promo wasn't quite up to HHH staining himself from last week, but I'll take what I can get.

I thought the exact same thing to the point where I thought they should do a Battle Royale for the Undertaker match. Then I thought, what if they make next year's Royal Rumble for the Undertaker match instead of the World Title? It's a more valuable spot at this point than the World Title isn't it?

I thought the same thing here too. A fake out lights off would have made the crowd go nuts. I suppose they just wanted the final shot to be Taker and Punk victorious without it being muddled with other people. But for those that missed it, The Shield did attack The Big Show after Raw was over complete with triple powerbomb.

What's weird is that the whole four year HBK/HHH process was kicked off with Michaels wrestling JBL on Raw for the right to challenge Undertaker.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, when Luke Gallows loses in Wrestlemania 31 and 32, try to look surprised.

My only comment on the show - if they really wanted to go Old School, they should have had Flair turn on Miz and join up with Ziggler.

Or, at the very least, have Miz employ the thumb to the eye and/or a few chops

I know Flair struts and all, but Miz was TOTALLY doing the Jeff Jarrett strut.

The "I wanna fight the Undertaker" segment seemed like it was generated by the story mode of one of the WWE video games.

At least Antonio got some offense in against Ryback.

The rest I kind of slept through.

After seeing the New Age Outlaws last night, I don't see why they couldn't get one last run in ... they looked better than a lot of the "current" guys (of course, giving credit to Primo & Epico for the match too).

I presume the RICK RUDE LIVES sign that was so prominent in the front row during the first hour of RAW was confiscated?

Yeah, he also became the first guy to ever not redeem MITB. Flip one result -- Lesnar over Cena, which they've tried to flip anyway by framing it as "Brock heinously brutalized Cena" -- and it really was a year of big failure. They just wouldn't acknowledge it while it was going on because he had to come out happy again and main event the next show instead of like, "Josh, if John Cena doesn't defeat Damien Sandow here on Smackdown and turn things around, he may be relegated to the U.S. title division."

I bet Jim Johnston could change it to "I'm A Nice Man" with 10 minutes in Pro Tools.

Yes!

2010 - Shawn Michaels has to beg, plead, lose his mind, give the world title to his worst enemy, and finally risk his very existence just to get Undertaker to consider it.

2011 - The Undertaker builds a cabin in the woods to initiate the ceremony for his return, consummated by Taker and Triple H's wordless ritual of the gladiators.

2012 - The Undertaker shorns his locks in an act of dishonor and rebirth, moves into the Studio of the Darkside, and learns Final Cut Pro. He demands that Triple H wrestle him, and Triple H ... will think about it.

2013 - The Undertaker walks out. "Hey. I just drove in. So what's going on? Did anyone call next?" A Fatal Four Way Match between Some Wrestlers determines his latest, greatest, gravest, bravest challenge.

Colt Cabana comes out, does the throat slash, and points at the Wrestlemania sign.

Now you've got my wheels turning. Get Kevin Nash to form a stable to take on Paul Heyman. "I'm a Paul Heyman Guy" versus "I'm a Nash Man."

Curtis rules, but he ruled as a weirdo with a van and/or sexual deviant. Can "Dirty Curty" carry his mischievous panache over to arrogant dancing, it remains to be seen. But I thought Sandow was going to be a comedy jobber, so there is growth potential from one's vignette-based genesis.

Last night I was out doing errands during the first hour of Raw and I got a text on my phone from WWE.

It simply read:

I have risen.

Three words, but I knew instantly that the Undertaker had returned or was about to.
I thought that was a nice use of social media by them to generate buzz.

I'm surprised no one here is commenting on how John Cena told everyone Monday night how he blames the failure of his marriage on the Rock beating him at Wrestlemania last year. That's what I understood from everything he was saying.

Does this mean the Rock's gonna bring out Cena's ex-wife next week so she can get a a little paycheck from Vince?

Sorry if this appears twice. Hey, you were right, the raw.com report does give a name to Lesnar's finisher. They call it the F5. It's funny, because when I press F5 here in IE, it reloads the page. Ok, maybe it's not. Whatever.
