I just wish two of the biggest matches at Mania weren't repeats from PPVs within the last year. Will Hunter put Lesnar over in consecutive matches? Will he lose his last 3 matches, going back to Mania against Taker?

What does Lesnar get in the fight? He already beat Hunter, and he made him tap. This is a one-sided angle, and it can only benefit Hunter.

Why does everyone act like John Cena kicked Brock Lesnar's ass? Did anyone actually watch the match? He barely won. Brock Lesnar beat the shit out of him for 20 minutes and Cena was out with an injury for the next month. The only reason John Cena won was because Lesnar decided to fly out of the ring and land on his head. The doctors almost stopped the match a minute in because of a cut. Even after the doctors gave him a 5 minute breather, Cena was basically unconscious for the next 15 minutes. He's lucky Lesnar wasn't going for pinfalls because that match would have been over. Brock Lesnar was toying with him and got caught doing something stupid. I'll give him credit for surviving long enough to hit his finisher (lucky shot), but anyone watching that match would see that Lesnar is on a completely different level fighting-wise from John Cena.

Sure Brock dominated the match, but Cena beat the odds for the thousandth time to win a match whether he barely win or not he still won. I was hoping the WWE was gonna go with the Sting and Vader template where the monster heel destroys the valiant baby face and a rematch is built to where the babyface gets his revenge. Brock Vs Cena the rematch could have headlined Summerslam and would have been a better match and drawn a better buyrate than HHH vs Brock and told a better story.

This. We have seen Cena get killed in almost every PPV match. Norton tortured porned him. Brock murdering him is nothing new and not enough to be a MOTY. Cena vs Brock as a rematch would be better than Rock.

Yeah, I didn't get the criticism of this match. It was the most underrated one of 2012 and managed to tell a great story where Brock was coming back from dominating UFC to destroy a man he'd defeated in 2003, who'd become the top star who's coming off the biggest loss of his career.

The problems with this match had nothing to do with what happened in it, and if you saw it, you'd know that not only was it NOT booked like a typical Cena match, but it wasn't booked like any other match in WWE at the time. It was a lot more of a raw, UFC-style fight with some pro-wrestling mixed in.

If anything, it was more that it happened too soon after WrestleMania, and that they didn't keep Cena out of the ring for a longer period of time after the match. Also, that immediate post-match promo was weird and did nothing to sell the "injury."

Is a Cena/Brock rematch on the table? Well, NOW it is since he's signed an extension, but at the time, it was structured in a way that they wanted Cena to get some heat back so the kids would be happy and he could make money in PPV matches during 2012, which apparently he was sticking around for.

Not every match is building towards a rematch. Especially with someone who's contract has him rarely appearing, At the time this occurred, this was probably a trial run for Brock to see how he'd draw... for matches against HHH, I guess.

I totally agree that having Cena lose that first one to set up a rematch at SummerSlam would have been a smarter plan, or just doing one big Cena/Brock match at SummerSlam, booked the same way only drawn out more, would have been smarter, though.

That said, HHH/Brock was a match we never got back in Brock's day, so WWE was probably trying to sell it based on that aspect.

Despite having him under contract for the year, they also really did not seem to trust Lesnar at first (and vice versa) and didn't want him to win and then walk. And what do you know, Dana White said last week that a few weeks after the Cena match, he negotiated with Lesnar about fighting Fedor.

Since then, with SummerSlam doing so well, both sides seem very copacetic with the relationship. Enough to put Lesnar over HHH clean when so many didn't think they would. So if they could do it all over again now knowing that Lesnar's here to play ball and is done with MMA, maybe they would've had him win since they clearly love their mega-rematches.

It was the most underrated one of 2012

I think it's the majority's WWE MOTY actually, neck-and-neck with Taker-HHH depending on whether you preferred the unique realistic spectacle w/ an air of danger, or the traditional pro wrestling war.

Looking at the Wrestling Observer awards, it looks like you're right. I guess I thought the "End of an Era" match would run away with everything. Nevermind that one.

Could only face-palm Cole trying to play the 'old man' sympathy card for the 'Ruthless Asshole Billionaire'© Vince McMahon.

''he's a grandfather''

So are lots of arrogant pricks, what's your point?

Vince playing the good guy is just, against nature.

They could do a Hart Foundation stable thing ala Horsemen. Then Bret would be in twice and you could get the also sad ending Flyin' Brian, British Bulldog (without the BulldogS since I doubt Dynamite would ever accept an entry)
