Read it and weep, fella

  • These 3-hour Raws take FOREVER. Has Jim Ross toned his commentary down because he's in color commentator mode, or is he that exhausted after 3 hours?

  • I like RyBack, but I hope they dont ruin the chance of letting Punk keep the belt for a whole 365 days by making him drop it to RyBack now. Just seems like kind of a waste of a title reign streak. BTW, with Cena out, who is Punk fighting at house shows? RyBack already?

  • Just occured to me last night that there are only like 4-5 active women left in the Divas division:

    *Eve
    *Layla
    *Alicia Fox
*Whatshernameagain (You know, she just got Nancy Kerrigan'd by the mystery blonde. I can picture her face but I cant think of her name. I keep wanting to say "Ashley" but that's not it. Am I close? This isn't good.)
    *Rosa Mendez doesnt count
    *AJ Lee doesnt count
    *Funkadactyls dont count
    *Is Nattie still around?
    *Tamina is gone, right?
    *Is Aksana gone for good?
    *Who am I missing? Damn.

  • I guess the Funkasaurus has run his course. Lasted way longer than anyone expected though.

  • Holy smokes that Trouble in Paradise was rough looking! I love when WWE replays something 14 times in a row for me so I dont have to rewind the DVR myself. JR seemed a little too pleased with Miz's misfortune if you ask me.

  • Holy crap is Daniel Bryan over.

  • I wonder if that really was Vince's last in-ring action ever, or if Punk was just talking trash.

  • RyBack's teeth look like Venom's teeth.

  • Other than having someone take Cena out Nancy Kerrigan-style (what the heck is that chick's name!?!?), I guess having him give his HiaC spot to RyBack was the best way to go. Kinda. Once it became apparent that's the direction they were going in, I wondered how they were gonna pull it off without making the audience grown in disappointment. I think they did the best they could.

  • Jinder Mahal should probably lose the turban now maybe.

  • That's all I got.

To answer your questions, yes, Punk/Ryback has been happening at house shows, and the name you're looking for is Kaitlyn. (Maybe if they gave more of them last names....)

I like that they're putting Ryback in the main event, but I think this just shows the danger of having the special-match-themed PPVs. Hell In The Cell should never be the first match of a program, but there's no way around that with Cena hurt. (Well, I suppose you could try to sell a HitC PPV around another Sheamus/ADR match, but that's a cure that's worse than the disease.)

Tonya Harding. The knee shot is referred to as "the Gillooly" after her ex-husband who helped hire the hitman.

Yeah, I just bought tickets last night for Sunday's house show with Punk vs. Ryback in a last man stading match.
If you had told me last year that Skip Sheffield would be in the main event....

I think having Jinder keep the turban makes it all the more funny. Heath Slater looks like he's having a blast out there.

Re: Cena and the Jets. He's getting so much flack online from wrestling and football fans. The guy is just doing his job-- he's promoting WM29 which happens to be where the Jets play. I don't think he was begging to be honorary captain of his team's rival.

    Kaitlyn.
Tamina isn't "gone" but hasn't been on regular TV for a while (just NXT and a while back SuperStars tapings)
Aksana rarely gets ring time b/c she's a pretty horrid wrestler.
Natty is def still around (though some rumormills say she's on her way out the way everyone is saying Beth is bailing)
It's too bad AJ doesn't wrestle b/c she's one of the better wrestlers there.
Naomi can wrestle, they should let her. Agree on Cameron "not counting"
Rosa is managing b/c she wasn't doing to well working TV matches but when she's in a longer match and has a good opponent to work off of she isn't the worst.
As far as the greater context though, Peter has a good point in that the Diva's division is in a cycle of being killed off which is a bummer. It's not for a lack of talent in developmental either, but the casting and writing of the roles is obviously an afterthought at this point.

Unless you count how she's the only person from the most recent iteration of Tough Enough still with the company. And she was the first eliminated.

Well, one way to solve the 'problem' of backstage interviewers being attacked by wrestlers is to bring back the female backstage interviewer. Lilian used to do that, of course, and that provided some memorable moments with the Rock and others.

Wasn't there an ESPN woman who left them recently, who's a big wrestling fan too? Has there been any word about her coming over to WWE? That seems to be the exact same situation as Renee Paquette, except she'd have more mainstream familiarity in the US, whereas Renee is going to be coming in as a complete newcomer to the non-Canadian audience.

I think you're referring to Michelle Beadle who left ESPN (And their First Take show) to move to Access Hollywood alongside Billy Bush among others as well as a few duties with NBC Sports (including some London Olympic coverage). She's also in some of the current Bridgestone tire ads as well. Seems like a fun lady and live tweets Raw quite a bit on Monday nights. (edit: I think you're onto something but I also think Beadle is pretty busy already)

I was catching up on this with my son earlier and have to wonder who Brodus pissed off to get no entrance and lose to ADR so quickly? What the hell happened there? (My kids still enjoy him immensely).

If the chick from the Score is hot, American audiences won't care.

The post by Drew brings up the question of how the hell Michelle Beadle has not been a Raw guest host at some point? Attractive woman who loves wrestling and actually has some level of fame, and when she was with ESPN her presence pretty much would have guaranteed getting on Sportscenter, or now at least guarantees being on Access Hollywood.

Beadle/Menounos vs. Eve/Alicia Fox at Wrestlemania. Book it.

He's the new Ryder; he's over enough they can job him out as much as they want.

A lot of guys weren't getting entrances, so I'm thinking they were running long again...which shows that this company has more time management problems than Norv Turner.

Couple this loss with the two-minute squash against Cesaro a few weeks ago and I think it's safe to say that's the end of any serious push for Brodus. The feud with Big Show just murdered the poor guy.

Tensai/Broadus could give the tag division its obligatory monster team. You pit those guys against ReySin in the Sun for the belts, and you make money.

You can go back farther than that, to the period they took him off TV after he came back, or how they delayed bringing him back as this character after teasing him for a while. They've always wanted something out of Clay that they haven't quite been able to get.

I wanna see him snap, go heel and go back his to "WE GONNA RIP IT UP!" theme music, and get pushed as a monster a la Mark Henry.

You know, I thought that's where they were going with this at the start. Wasn't it just a few weeks or a month into the gig where there was some awkward backstage sketch where he seemed to lose his cool a bit, then paused, smiled, and turned Funky again? That seemed to indicate that he was "forced" to play this character by Johnny L and would eventually snap. But nothing else was ever done about it.

I know that backstage segment and I thought it was genius because it felt like the real Brodus was fighting against a minstrel role forced on him so he could get on tv. If they had Brodus lose his next match and start losing his smile, then one week the Funkdactyls start to do their intro for him and you just hear him abruptly and harshly snap at them. Brodus just storms out and stands menacingly as the disheveled Funkdactyls awkwardly dance around him you would have a nice slight heel turn started.

Plus this frees up Naomi for the Diva's Division. "What Diva's Division?" you say oh sir you slay me!

I was glad to see the women get a match that lasted more than 90 seconds. Gail got to bust out some moves and they must have heard the outcry from the fans cuz they acknowledged her history as former champ.
