So CM Punk comes out early tonight and offers to name his opponent. Punk ultimately decides to hold off his decision until the end of the show, but Vince McMahon comes out and HE decides to name Punk's opponent...at the end of the show. Yup. Main event segment comes and Vince is about to name Punk's opponent...until John Cena decides to take his name out of the running and cedes the shot to Ryback. Show ends with Ryback nailing Punk with the Shell Shock! FEED HIM BOAR!

Wow...Cena's injury has to be more serious than anyone thought. Definitely didn't expect that one. But bravo to The E for taking a chance here.

Not much else happened tonight, but The E at least took a step forward in giving the jobber brigade of Slater, Mahal, and McIntyre an identity. They are now 3MB! And they aren't worth 5 cents, especially since I can get 256MB for less than five bucks. Yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk! I kid, I kid! They actually gave the three matching 80's hair band attire and give them a segment where they invade a nearby bar to try and play their "music"! McIntyre, in particular, looks really silly, but he rules it when he totally tries to play his role over-the-top! Ok, call me crazy...but this is just dumb enough that it just might work!

Other happenings:
-Big Show beat Daniel Bryan clean.
-Brodus Clay's de-push continued, as he got fed to Alberto Del Rio in a two-minute special. No, their NXT history was never mentioned, before anyone even asks.
-Antonio Cesaro and Justin Gabriel had a really good TV match and Gabriel even got some offense, including the Sternum-Crushing 450 Splash! I'd kill to see these two go again. You know, if this company gave more than two craps about Gabriel.
-Kane beat Matt Stryker in a nonsense match, because...you know...there aren't enough guys on the roster to fill a three-hour show. Stryker begs for his life and says "I'm not a competitor anymore!" while wearing his wrestling tights. Striker saying "Nobody wants to see mindless carnage!" did, however, get a light "Mindless Carnage" chant started, so that was pretty funny.
-Sheamus and Wade Barrett ends in a DQ after Show-erferece. Sheamus lays out Barrett with a Brogue Kick after, because Barrett is getting PUSHED!
-Eve beat Layla in a Divas title match, but Layla's foot was on the ropes, so this feud MUST continue! Lucky us.
-Team Rhodes Scholars beat Epico & Primo. The tag tournament has been postponed a week, due to a Rey Mysterio illness. Team Rhodes Scholars and Team Luchadore face off next week!
-A MizTV segment leads to Kofi Kingston beating Miz non-title, only notable because Kofi's Trouble in Paradise was STIFF AS ALL HELL and busted Miz open hardway!

Also, John Cena was apparently named a co-captain of the New York Jets yesterday and took a picture with Tim Tebow! This Tim Tebow, right here!

John Cena, the guy from BOSTON, co-captained the Jets! And he wonders why everybody thinks he's a pandering douchebag.

And that's all I got! Now excuse while I go drown my sorrows in food over tonight's Chargers collapse.

Take us home, CM Punk!

(He's right, you know.)

Oof ba boof, they're going to screw up Rock/Punk by putting the world title on Ry Back for a month. If this was going down in April, it'd be the fricking Funkasaurus in that spot and look at him now.

At least 3MB is amazing.

YES! I didn't expect that, either, but I'm very pleasantly surprised!

I'm enjoying the 3MB. There was a definite lack of comedy heels in the company, so it's nice to have them added back in. I also really loved that Trouble in Paradise, and you can tell that they loved it too, because they replayed it about 8 times. Miz looked like he couldn't believe how hard he got hit.

Drew McIntyre looks like he's having the time of his life in the THREE MAN BAAANNND BABY.

Best part about Punk's incredulous "I'm not the devil!" - just last week I listened to him on Marty DeRosa's podcast tell a story about the SES era, where he would psych himself up to be as evil as he could by telling himself "I'm the devil!"

Obviously Matt Striker is being "punished" for...whatever Vince is punishing him for...

It was Real Talk about Kofi Kingston night apparently, but hey, try pushing the guy again as a top face.

So in the end it seemed like CENA chose The Ryback as Punk's opponent, not Vince.

"You shouldn't call AJ the "C-word", note to self." - Michael Cole. Worst call of the night. Or best, can't decide. (He meant 'crazy', of course.)

Eve's ground game and MMA-derived submission holds were terrific. The first half of that match was technically sound. And then Layla got to a vertical base and went on the offense.

Does 3MB need a roadie? So much for the EnCorre.

This is especially awesome to me because I'm going to insist on believing they were named after Macaulay Culkin's art collective with Adam Green (of the Moldy Peaches) and some other guy which is also named 3MB. The other 3MB work by all painting the same canvas at the same time, so there are plenty of metaphors that can apply. Also, the other 3MB is short for 3 Men and a Baby, so there's a potential mascot right there.

I really want to see Heath Slater do the Home Alone face every time Drew or Jinder get put in someone's finisher.

I doubt very much that he wonders about that at all. I suspect that Cena is quite happy with his life and isn't terribly concerned about what people think. Plus there's nobody else in the professional sports world that makes more sense paired up with John Cena than Tim Tebow.

Punk's "this show doesn't revolve around one guy" line when talking about Vince early in the show was good. Remember last year when Punk repeatedly made fun of contract signings that went exactly as this one did?

JR was falling apart out there in the last segment. When he said "Cena" instead of "Punk," I thought he gave away the HitC opponent.

JR was the one saying all the greats won HiTC to become legends, and Punk HAD to win this match, and it HAD to be against a Cena to make himself truly worthy of the respect he craves. (A swerve? Maybe.) It's great fodder for Punk because he seed that as the WWE moving the goal posts to deny him respect. They're giving Punk enough coal to fuel his crazy train, and he has gotten pissy in response.

They're moving someone else into the main event, and I'm fine with this. Cena is not even the third character in this angle; he gave his spot to Vince. Now I want Ryback to win the belt to avoid yet another Cena challenge/PPV build against Punk.

Going with "Eh, I could probably fight, but just let Ryback beat him up for me!" instead of "I want to fight in The Match Where Legends Are Made but they won't let me, gosh darn it!" is a weird choice that continues to play into the Cena's-a-jerk booking that they're booking but don't mean to be booking.

I'm taking the fact that they did Sheamus/Barrett again, with another Show interference ending, and still didn't have Barrett confront him as a personal insult.

No idea what to think of 3MB, it's ridiculous and therefore fun, I just don't know what they do with them. (Except a 3MB vs. Cobrodus Survivor Series match, of course.) I think I need to hear more about Jinder and Drew's newfound love of rockin' out.

Still on the fence about whether the "THIS IS AWESOME!" chant during Eve/Layla was awesome or not awesome.

Booking.

Prepare yourself for Dancing Tensai.

Broad Clay would give the band groupies. This is your Survivor Series team right there.

I'm glad they've had the balls to go with Ryback, the Cena/Punk feud should have ended at Summerslam, but instead WWE wanted to drag it out for at least another 3 months (I wouldn't be surprised if they'd wanted to stretch it out all the way to the end of the year) and now they've been burnt for it. Besides, it's been abundantly clear for a very long time now that Cena is NOT the guy to help get Punk over as a heel, they need someone like Ryback who hasn't got the negative baggage with the audience that Cena has. I mean check out last night, Punk is still getting a mixed/meh reaction, and even when Punk uses his (pretty lame) powers of audience manipulation, 'I know he's you're hero, John Cena' the crowd responded with another mixed reaction. I've always said that most of the crowd will happily accept Punk as the heel if the alternative was appealing.

Were they being sarcastic or were they talking about the placement of Layla's head in Eve's torres?

Ok, I know somebody from The E checks this site and occasionally takes ideas from us, as evidenced by dual Sin Caras and Team Hell No.

If that person is reading this thread right now...THIS! A thousand times THIS!
