I'll be honest. I was NOT paying attention to this show. My involuntary nap very fortunately coincided with that God-awful, multi-camera "deposition" nonsense between singin' Sheamus Lipschitz and "I have a beard in my match graphic but not in skits" David Otunga...except I rewound back to make sure I endured the whole thing. I cringed when they did the "run-in against the opponent followed by run-in for the opponent leads to impromptu tag match" for the gazillionth time, even though it involved Lawler (who didn't get to do much but DID deliver two second rope fistdrops).

But then, like several of you, I noticed a distinct lack of commentary right around the beginning of the second hour, in the middle of the Prime Time Players vs. Kane & Daniel Bryan (yes, they teamed up at Dr. Shelby's suggestion - and AJ Lee's insistence) - I went back and tried to figure out what had happened - at 8:58 Lawler was talking much softer than normal, mumbLing something about Titus O'Neill hitting like a sledgehammer - and then he stopped talking. And then Cole stopped talking. And suddenly, everybody in the building got really quiet and started looking everywhere but the ring.

What we know NOW is that Lawler collapsed at his seat, and he was quickly carried to a stretcher, taken backstage, given CPR and oxygen, and taken to (I'm assuming) a Montréal hospital. Speculation led to assumption of the worst; by the end of the night we were able to pull back to something...well, slightly better. But it was a rough final hour, most of which occurred with NO commentary and during a time where some of us who lived through Over the Edge really didn't care so much what was going on with the "entertainment," but hanging on waiting for any "real life" news.

As is usually the case in WWE, the "show went on." Kane and Bryan somehow fell into the #1 contendership for the tag team titles, which they will presumably win Sunday. Rey Mysterio and Cody Rhodes had a by-the-numbers match which ended when Miz inserted himself - why? Who knows? - and instead of a Sin Cara run-in, Rhodes surprised Miz with a crossrhodes and looked longingly at the Intercontinental championship which HE used to carry. The climactic Bret Hart interview of John Cena (with standard interruption by CM Punk) would have been a halfway decent go home segment for Night of Champions any other night.

Cole closed out the show in a role he performed so well in his previous life - reporter. He used his words as carefully as he could and didn't overpromise in describing King's condition. We'll know more tonight if somebody tells somebody at wwe.com what to say; otherwise we'll have to wait for news to leak out from our favourite unreliable sources. The waiting is always the hardest part....but only when you're waiting for good news. You don't want the bad news to EVER get there.

Captions are cancelled this week.

Pray for Lawler.

I went to bed after the Kane/Bryan segment. So, I missed everything. I think the worst part for me about this entire Lawler situation, is while he was facing Punk, I was thinking what a world would be like without Lawler at the booth to be inserted in this storylines when WWE has no other legit babyface to get heat for a new heel. Apparently, I got my wish, in the worst possible way. Terrible news and I hope he does recover. Like I said in the Lawler thread, I am not sure why they have Jerry in the ring at his age especially on back to back weeks.

As for the rest of the show. I liked Punk/Hart and Punk/Heyman just walking out on the tag match with Vickie screaming at them. Canada was booing Punk, so I guess everyone will start to boo him. Greg made a great comment on Twitter about Bret's ovation is what HHH would like the fans to do for him. They should slip Bret an extra grand for finally getting a crowd to boo Punk. Yet, real life cast a pawl over the night and again, I would like to see Lawler back, but never in the ring again.

(I was flipping back and forth between watching the US Open and The New Normal but I caught most either live or DVR-delayed)

I thought this was the best Raw in a long time and also the worst - for very different reasons (which I'm sure you know by now).

The show was great; I loved seeing Hart out there and I thought Cena showed why he is the best today with that show closing segment.

Orton/Punk (and the tag match afterwards) was really great as was the thought of seeing the team of Bryan and Kane; I really love them together. I think that Daniel Bryan is close to how Angle was during 2005(?) with how he reacts to the crowd.

Loved the Shaemus stuff and I'm intrigued by Cody and Miz; interesting that they ended up on opposing sides.

The last two hours were surreal, however, and the commentary-less parts of the show was just really sad. I can't wait to see Jerry back up and at that commentary table soon!

Kudos to Michael Cole, too. I don't always like his character but, as an individual, I can hardly imagine how hard that must have been.

John Cena was absolutely on FIRE in that last segment. I am normally not a fan of Cena, but that was great.

In Canada, Raw airs one hour later than the live broadast in the US due to ridiculous CRTC rules. I was watching Raw with some friends and we were pretty bored, so I checked out the Observer site and that was when I got word of something happening to Lawler. I pulled up Twitter and got updates from CRZ, @tapemachines, and others who were watching the show live. It was so surreal reading about Lawler like he might have just died on TV, but as we're watching it, he's wrestling a match and then doing commentary with nothing wrong. Very glad to hear that things are sounding hopeful.

Obviously, pretty much impossible to pay attention to the rest of the show. I do like Kane and Bryan as wacky mismatched tag team partners (especially named "Team Friendship" - though to whoever coined "No Chants in Hell," I stole your joke and my friends laughed, so thanks). I thought the one Lipschitz joke was funny but then the skit went on for another seven hours. And is Antonio Cesaro's music just someone rapping over the old Dean Malenko 007 music?

I believe it was the same; like I said, Canada gets the show an hour later and it appears to me that we got exactly what the US got.

Besides, when they aired the Chris Benoit tribute Raw, the west coast feed was the same as the east, even though by the time the west coast airing started, the full story of what had happened was pretty much out there.

It aired unedited. The most chilling shot was Jerry slumped over on Cole and Cole trying to roust him. (Though it was in the background, and I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't already know what was happening.)

I'll try my best to not talk about the Jerry Lawler Situation, if that's even possible.

To me the so called 'hot' Montreal crowd were a bit of a damp squib really, they only really came alive for Cena and Bret.

Though it seemed to be mostly kids and families so I shouldn't really be surprised they fell hook line and sinker for the fairly blatant attempts at audience manipulation throughout the show.

I'm hoping that Boston is much more energetic.

I thought it couldn't get any better than NOvaKane.

then came Hell Yes.

then came No Chants In Hell.

I'm so excited for them as champs. Even more excited if they feud with Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara, which could be a great dynamic with Bryan doing top notch work while Kane gets to play giant in limited doses. It actually recreates the Rey & Edge vs. Angle & Benoit tag title feud with the heel team bullying the faces while trying not to self-destruct.

Sorry, "Team Friendship" is the best possible name.

It was an interesting show, not for the good reasons.
Like Schippewrecke said, I couldn't help myself and kept a close eye and ear on the announcing during that match. It's chilling to watch Lawler slump over in the background.
Btw..If Cole had to stay at ringside all the time, that must've been terrible for him. Wow. Kudos to him.

When Bret compared himself and HBK to Shawn and Cena..
that's an interesting dynamic.
Cena's promo was great. Why does he do this once a year or so?
Maybe it's just that he needs a good (multi-skilled) opponent to bring it out of him? His feud with Edge was great too.

Punk's retorts and mannerisms were great too.
I just don't hope he has to be a total chickenshit heel.

Rey's banana color outfit was...well bright & banana-ish.

Oh, when Cena talked about change and then not delivering...
Was there some political message in there or something?

SEGUE: speaking of campaign season, when can we start talking about the weirdness of Cena's promo? The bit along the lines of "You talk about, you campaigned for change, you held a big celebration in Chicago and everyone was happy, but it turned out the only change was helping yourself" seemed way too perfectly vague as to apply to other Chicago natives. It may have not been designed as a promo on Obama (?!?!) but you could certainly hear one in it.

That whole last segment - maybe they can take out the awful Sheamus comedy segment on SmackDown and reair it there so we can have a proper discussion on it, because it was really good and also really interesting. It really belongs on the next Best of John Cena DVD they do.

Not to mention that in one the first graphic he has the full beard, and in the next one just the goatee, segueing to cleanshaven barista, which I am boo for.

I noticed when Jerry had the attack, but it sounded lick he was trying to suppress a snicker, and then he snorted, and that was it. I didn't even notice he wasn't talking until I saw Cole with his arms over jerry leaning over I realised something was up.

It sounds like they're switching between multiple languages; that, or my French is even rustier than I thought. But I didn't even realize it wasn't in English until you said so (hadn't looked on YouTube yet, only heard it on TV), so what the heck do I know anyway.

If we get more of these on the way to November, its going to be sickening. Plus, its hard to change when the establishment won't let you. Cena is the last person to talk about change.

After the incident with Lawler it was hard for me to focus on the show as I was having flashbacks to my dad's first seizure. The exchange with Punk/Cena/Hitman thankfully took my attention off of it for a few minutes. Cena speaks french! I still predict an anti-Cena crowd in Boston which will make me twirl my evil mustache.

I like the continued slow build to the possible Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. CM Punk match with Punk making a point to say he was even better than Austin.
