Was there a Monday Night Football game on or something?

- Triple H got squashed really bad by Umaga ala Hulk Hogan and any random 80's fat heel, while also doing one of the worst blade jobs that I've seen in awhile. We then get to watch Helmsley bravely walk limp his way up the ramp for the next 7 minutes or so. Hopefully the WWE releases an address where concerned and worried fans can send their 'get well' wishes and cards. I also like the odds of him coming out with taped ribs next time he's in action.

- Mr Kennedy is looking really really small these days and I still don't see what the deal is with him.

- HBK is back, that's either a good or bad thing. I'm not going to say.

This was the best Raw in a long time. The sublime Santino, an actual heat angle on Triple H, a great angle for the return of Michaels, and Todd Grisham bein' sexy.

I disagree. I thought RAW was bad and I am not looking forward to HBK being back and in the title picture. That leaves HBK and HHH as the main faces and Umaga and Orton and the main heels. Not for nothing, if Jericho comes back, I hope to GOD he goes to Smackdown because he has a much better chance to shine over there then on RAW.

I am dreading the HHH/HBK Happy Hour from 10-11 every Monday night, with their opening act preview from 9-9:20ish.

I held out hope that the handshake thing with Orton would go down and eventually HHH would be the last one out and begrudgenly shake Orton's hand. And then McMahon would start to wrap it up and then Jericho's music hits and he makes his way to the ring.

Even if they did not want to do Jericho, they should have proceeding with HBK coming out instead.

I am so tired of RAW that I actually have it on in the adjoining room while I play Guitar Hero. I Fear I will be doing this for a while because I do not see any good coming on RAW for quite some time.

This was easily Kennedy's best match since he moved to RAW, but I don't know what they hope to do with him as a heel. He's lost yet again to Jeff, and this is two consecutive matches to title holders he lost in as many weeks. If he can't beat Jeff, and he can't contend for Orton's belt, whom does he work against for a needed win? Do they feed him Super Crazy again?

I got bored with the passion of the Hunter. Bad enough that we see the extended gut-check walk up the ramp, but it continues after the ad break and then leads backstage. And then after all the talk about HHH being the first to shake Orton's hand, we don't see him again for the rest of the show.

Now that HBK is back, he seems to move against Orton to contend for the belt. Hunter would move against Umaga. So let's say Jericho does come back. What does he do? He can't beat up Santino; that's seemingly reserved for Stone Cold. If he comes in and beats up Kennedy, so what? Kennedy isn't winning. A returning Booker? A healed Lashley? Snitsky? Daivari? Hornswaggle (we got no pay off for this week's subplot either)? Why would he come back just to tread water in the midcard?

Nice women's match. Needless Snitsky squash. I didn't watch Lillian sing.

Orton's first speech as champ was bland. I like his look and his ring energy, but it doesn't feel like a heel champ draw to me, and only his adversaries can pop the PPV buyrates, methinks.

Cena/Michaels sucked, after all.

That was a good match. They've had a few good matches together, like the one when Jeff fell on his head on the split-leg.

I think he will chase Jeff as a heel and win the belt.

I got bored with the passion of the Hunter.

Certainly. And yeah, he was about to beat the two top heels on Raw before they got DQ'd. But someone actually laid him out. And no comeback. Holy shit. Plus last night notwithstanding, Michaels/Orton sounds better than Hunter/Orton rematches.

    I didn't watch Lillian sing.

Did you see Santino sing? They tried to make him see The Condemned but he said no no no.

I was watching baseball, but managed to catch part of the main event angle. Triple H wasn't onscreen, and all the other people were asking, "Where's Triple H?"

I continued to watch baseball.

Jim Ross is kind enough to confirm the episode number for us (750) so, of course, THIS is the week the thread starter fails to include it in the thread title.

DIDJA SEE THAT PROMO FOR NEXT WEEK'S SHOW HUH HUH HARDCORE HOLLY VERSUS CODY RHODES III HOLY SHIT DUDE THEY'RE GIVING THAT AWAY FOR *FREE*

Does Santino/WWE's use of Amy Winehouse mean she just reached her expiration date as a current reference? Durn.

My DVR actually cut at 10:05 (because I guess when I told it "10:15" it didn't feel like listening) so the show ended JUST as Michaels walked out. I was waiting for Triple H to reveal that he was underneath the big box in the ring all along. It's starting to sound like that didn't happen; I'm so disappointed.

Honestly, do you really think the place to debut Lilian's Spanish language debut is....not previously known as a Latino hotbed Grand Rapids? (Answer: when the CD debuts tomorrow, the place to do it is wherever you happen to be that night, so yes.)

I feel like there was some other incredibly clever and important point I wanted to make about this show but it's already flown out of my flighty little mind. RAW keeps doing that to me!

Was out with friends, so didn't see the show live. Here's an abbreviated version of the normal recap:

-WWE Open.

-We opened cold to the Chairman making his way to the ring, LIVE from Grand Rapids, MI. He reminded us of his No Mercy guarantees. Cue highlights of the championship chase from last night. He guaranteed another historic night and another gathering of the roster, this time to show respect to the new champion. Some Cyber Sunday talk followed, until Triple H interrupted. Vince admonished him off-mic. HHH invoked his re-match clause and Vince gave him the match, only a handicap match with Umaga added.

-A John Cena interview is coming up tonight!

[Break]

(1) Beth Phoenix, Jillian Hall and Melina vs. Candice Michelle, Mickie James and Maria
Head-scissors by Maria on Melina. Quick tag to Mickie for a snap-mare and seated dropkick. Mickie shoved Melina off her perch on the top rope, but Beth nailed Mickie. Mickie's leg was tangled and Beth tagged in. She worked the leg and tagged Jillian, who did the same, targeting the leg. Double hair-toss and tag to Melina. Stump-puller by the former MNM second. Mickie powered out and tagged Candice. Suplex and bridge was broken up by Beth, who was taken out by Maria and Micki. Jillian missed a handspring elbow and got rolled up by Candice for the win.

Winners: Candice, Mickie and Maria at 3:36

-The Handicap match is still to come.

[Break]

-Backstage, William Regal had Coach's old office decorated as his own. Coach walked with a cane thanks to Cena's attack. Coach made fun of Regal's photos (The Queen, George Michael and Sir Elton) when Vince walked in. He wanted to make sure Regal was taking care of Hornswaggle. Regal gave the Horny-watching duties to Coach. Coach checked on the sleeping leprechaun, but he wasn't in the closet where he was supposed to be. Regal blamed Coach.

-The announcers plugged Cyber Sunday.

-The Cena interview is tonight.

[Break]

(2) Santino Marella vs. Val Venis
Before the match, Santino went to the outside and introduced Lillian Garcia. He said he had a previous engagement and couldn't fight. His substitution? Snitsky.

(2) Snitsky vs. Val Venis
Snitsky went right to the left knee of Val. Bodyslam and more knee work. Short clothesline missed and Venis got some punches in, but Snitsky hit a big boot. Pumphandle slam ended it.

Winner: Snitsky at 2:00

-A long plug for Evander Holyfield's PPV fight aired.

-Next, we hear from Cena.

[Break]

-Cena was live via satellite from Tampa, FL. Cena said he expected to be out 7-12 months. Goal #1 is getting better. He said Orton shouldn't worry about Cena, but everyone that will be chasing him. He plugged tonight's handshake segment. Good interview- Cena seemed very real and comfortable.

-Orton came out for the match.

[Break]

(3) Randy Orton and Umaga vs. Triple H
No tags necessary here. Heel mis-communication early saw Orton and Umaga ram into each other. Umaga sent Trips' ribs into the barricade. Back in, Orton laid the boots to the mid-section of The Game. The heels continued to punish Trips. Samoan drop by Umaga. But Triple H came back until Umaga hit him with a chair for the DQ.

Winner: Triple H by DQ at 4:25

-After the match, the beating continued, with an RKO, a butt splash and top-rope splash, as well as a thumb to the throat from Umaga. Triple H started walking to the back with help of refs, but collapsed on the ramp.

[Break]

-Highlights of what just happened.

-Backstage, Vince said Triple H would be the first to shake Orton's hand tonight, regardless of what condition he was in.

(4) London and Kendrick vs. The Highlanders
London beat up Rory, then the two faces hit stereo planchas on the Scots. Robbie tagged in after his distraction allowed Rory to take over. A hot tag was made to Kendrick, who went wild on Robbie. Rory interfered but got low-bridged to the outside and London jumped on him. Robbie rolled Kendrick up and got the pin by using the ropes.

Winners: The Highlanders at 2:03

-A DivaSearch video aired.

-Coach was looking for Hornswaggle backstage. Cody Rhodes hadn't seen him and Regal was getting impatient.

-Hardy vs. Kennedy, TONIGHT!

[Break]

-Lillian's band played. Afterward, Santino came out and told them to scram. He then sang a song about how bad The Condemned was.

-Kennedy/Hardy, next!

[Break]

(5) Ken Kennedy vs. Jeff Hardy
Hardy with a flurry of offense to start, then a Northern-Lights suplex from Kennedy. Both men went through the ropes and to the outside. Hardy flew onto Kennedy, but missed and hit the barricade.

[Break]

After break, Kennedy applied a half crab. Jeff kicked out and there were dueling "Let's Go Kennedy" "Let's Go Hardy" chants. Kennedy dropkicked Jeff off the top rope and got a two count. Back to the half crab. Jeff got to the ropes and kicked Kennedy out of the ring. KK kept going after the leg though. Jawbreaker by Jeff, then some clotheslines. Backslide by KK for two. Russian leg sweep by Hardy. They traded counters and Hardy hit a brain-buster. Crowd was going nuts. Jeff missed a splash and Kennedy went for the pin, but got rolled up for the three.

Winner: Hardy at 11:32

-Regal tried to cover for not having Hornswaggle, but Coach ruined it. Horny opened a case and awakened. He was to be brought to the stage next, but instead, he peppered Coach with cane shots instead.

-Raw Superstars were brought out to the stag for the celebration.

[Break]

-Vince brought Orton out. Vince wanted to be the first to shake his hand. Orton stood on a pedestal to speak. He said he'd be champ for a while. He wanted a handshake and "Good luck Champ" from each wrestler. Vince ordered Trips out, but he didn't come. Orton headed up the ramp to find him, but "Sexy Boy" started playing, and a bearded HBK came out. Orton retreated slowly to the ring, where Michaels tackled him and hit a superkick. HBK celebrated as the show ended.

Why is the Jericho code referencing HBK?

8.2.11 Saviour_Self
H.B.K Saviour_Self

I'm in total agreement about Jericho's supposed spot on the roster. We now have HBK vs. Orton and HHH vs. Umaga. He doesn't fit anywhere. Unless they feed HBK to Orton at Cyber Sunday, he goes on and on about there being no Legends left to kill and lo and behold...Y2J. Then switch HHH off to Kennedy and HBK to Smackdown.

I guess I'm just a Jericho mark and only want to see him back in the title picture. I'd hate to waste his 2nd_Coming to be fed to HHHogan.

Sorry about the fantasy booking.

It'll be a long time before I can hear "Rehab" without thinking of Santino singing on top of it. And why didn't they just find a kareoke recording, rather than have him sing on top of Amy's vocals?

Also, can Jericho just waltz into the main event after two+ years away? Not in terms of "deserving" it, but thinking of ring rust and getting his timing, etc. back. I trust his talent, but he still can't go from zero to 30 min PPV matches with Orton immediately.

Honestly does any one think that Jericho wants to come back? He has finaly has time for his family and gets to relax and not get him self hurt. Why would he come back for? Because thy showed a Matrix like thing and every one is like It's Y2J it just has to be!

Rember when Dustin was walking around The arena with a sign that says " HE'S COMING BACK" and we got Goldust.

WWe isn't that good at beibg creative any more. we all know this.

I said Cyber sunday and it's not that

I thought HBK and its not that

Knowing how wwe is I bet we get Teddy long, D-lo Brown, or
Some person going by the name Arc Angel

the key is to aim low so you dont get dissapointed like so many people at the Allstate sunday.

The line of the night came from my roommate, who is not a wrestling fan at all, but does watch it occasionally if he's to lazy to move to the other tv:

*HBK's music hits*

*Shawn Michaels struts out*

MY roommate:

"What's with Ted Nugent?"

I laughed my ass off.

Seriously, if he walks out next week with that get-up, changes his music to "Free For All" and is holding a bow and arrow, I would never diss WWE Creative again.

Not quite yet. We've yet to get a Weird Al parody version of "Rehab", at which point then the 15 minute clock will officially be up.

I like that they're making us wait for the inevitable Austin attacking Marella moment. It will make it all the more hilarious when it happens.

Nice swerve at the end. I marked out, I admit it. Expecting HHH and not getting him was great, even if it wasn't Y2J.

I would imagine HHH is not even close to being out of the WWE title picture. I smell HHH-HBK at Mania.

The RAW main event advertised for Cyber Sunday has been changed. The voting is now for Randy Orton's opponent at Cyber Sunday:

Shawn Michaels
Jeff Hardy
Mr. Kennedy

That sounds pretty good. I'd think despite the resumption of HBK vs. Orton hostilities, Jeff Hardy would have a bit of a groundswell of support. I voted for Hardy. It might be the only time he can get a WWE Title shot on pay per view.

If I were a betting man, I'd wager the original plan for the WWE Title match, choose stipulations, would now apply to Triple H vs. Umaga. We'll find out soon.

Well, the main event at Cyber Sunday will be Randy Orton vs one of these 3 guys:

- Kennedy
- Jeff Hardy
- HBK.

Apparently, they didn't want to risk Val Venis winning another poll.

While I rack my brain to figure out who will win (although it WOULD be funny if someone loaded the vote for Hardy), I just think it's funny that the Keller et all of the internet talked endlessly about how the Cena injury would open up doors to new people and programs and it seems like we're headed for a HBK/HHH program for Wrestlemania. You know, something we haven't seen before.

I watched the end and BOY is RAW's roster thin.....

Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

Sarcasm noted, but HHH and HBK have never had a one-on-one main event title match at Wrestlemania. And the last time they hooked up, in the WM20 triple threat, it was all kinds of awesome. (And no, not just because of that other guy in the match.)

I'm all for pushing the new guys, but for me at least, the current crop of "new guys" aren't particularly interesting.

I think the eventual HBK/HHH match will be VERY good (especially if they go with a face/face dynamic), but if anyone is under the allusion that this will open doors for mid-carders or new acts, they are sadly mistaken. Vince is very much a creature of habit and he'll put in the main event people who he'll know will deliver. It doesn't make it bad, per se, it just makes it repetative.

This has pretty much been the MO of the WWF forever anyway (strong familiar top card with the same faces, virtually non-exsistent mid card) aside from the Vince Russo "Everyone gets a program!" era. Generally it works because there was that strong face of the company (Hogan, Austin, Rock, even Cena) but now, there really isn't a 'franchise' player there (please don't say HHH). It hurts more now because there isn't a midcarder ready to break through (please don't say Kennedy) and they don't have guys they can nessecarily throw out there for 15 mins or so and put on **** classics to cover for injuries (like Benoit, Guerrero, Angle and for now Jericho).

While I agree with what you are saying, the problem is most of the mid card guys only get a couple of minutes to show their wares, how could we know they CAN't go 15 minutes? I am aure the Hardys, CM Punk, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Stevie Richards (yes, I did type that), MVP, Val Venis, Elijah Burke and a bunch of others could put on very entertaining matches for 15 mnutes or longer on a regular basis if they were only given a chance and a program to do so. If is not that they CAN'T do it, it is just their programs are such an afterthought that the crowds are conditioned not to care about them since in their eyes there is no way they will ever vie for the title so why care?

The focus on the show is always the same people. It is the HHH/HBK/Cena show (minus Cena for now) and everyone else is fighting for scraps. Even if someone gets fluke yet deserved win on RAW over one of these guys, it is usually followed up with a squash and a ticket back to mid card land.

There are PLENTY of good wrestlers in the mid card that if the WWE made the Intercontinental and the US Title actually worth something, we would see plenty of good matches. But, and this is only my opinion jaded by my hatred of HHH and HBK, I feel that some top wrestlers want the secondary belts lessened so as to keep the focus on the top guys and not have any long term mid card programs that may lead to an elevation of talent.
