You got it. I couldn't keep myself from smiling when he brought out "the guns". When JR was screaming "Mick Foley is back!", I would have paid good money for Lawler to say "JR? I don't think Mick Foley's in the ring anymore...that's Cactus Jack!!!"

But...slowly...slowly...it's a ways to Wrestlemania...

I also thought the Undertaker tease was nicely done...

The Benoit appearance was also well done, even if I'm dubious about the possible result, I'm intrigued by the story-telling possiblities. This had the feel of when the old AWA and NWA shows would cut promos on each other (and sometimes appear too!).

Goldberg-Lesnar...the first time I've seen even a brief glimmer his original WCW run.

Sorry if other's didn't like it, but I thought tonight was extremely well done. I got to be a mark again for a night.

Other good things:

Batista selling the damage from the Walls.

Orton's facial expressions as Mick descended into madness...good stuff. Almost makes me forgive him for the missed RKO...although the crowd got him for that one.

Again...well done. I think this is the most I've posted about either show in months. Let's hope they keep it up!

Well, Benoit went from Smackdown to Raw to Smackdown to Raw. He's pretty well travelled now. =)

I realize it's been said a million times already, but Foley...good god.

In an industry wherein good acting is rare and true intensity even moreso, Foley, retired or no, is a godsend.

For his monumentous reactions, I forgive Randy Orton for his fucking up the RKO. (I'm sure my forgiveness really, truly matters to him.)

I am suprised nobody mentioned how dead the crowd was for 90% of the night.

Foley...... Welcome back old friend.

Nipple slips AND a whole breast shot (if you pause it just right)? Cant argue there, only thing is why couldnt it have been Molly or Victoria?

Benoit getting the pop of the night was great. I only wish he would have just said "Nice belt HHH. I remember when I had it, and gave it back" before clamping the crossface on him.

For the UT video, which I liked, I was thrown how the timing between the first and second BONG was shorter than the old UT music. But, thats just me.

The final segment was a letdown, considering that the curtain-jerker was such an exciting match. In fact, the whole second hour just seemed so much less than the first hour. If the Foley bit were done at the mid-point of the show, I think it would have been much hotter to me. (So the segment was fine, but I didn't really like the spot it had, and the pacing leading up to it.)

See I thought just the opposite. That opening match was dull as hell; too many submissions moves, and none of the intensity required to make them seem like anything other than restholds. Orton didn't look good, RVD was his usual lethargic self, Batista sucked as usual, Jericho seemed into it but spent most of the match holding his head, and hopefully Flair hasn't decided on to retire on the DVD profits, since this is two nights in a row that the Naitch has phoned it in.

I agree with everyone who said the Foley promo was gold, however. Even better, Mick ended up standing tall at the end after fighting off Evolution.

CJ: Uh…Mark, nobody’s going to buy that shirt.
MH: How about if I say that I’ve got…a…uh…?
CJ: Coming up with T-Shirt ideas is hard Mark, why not leave it to the WWE marketing department.
MH: I know! I’ve got it!
CJ: Got what?
MH: Stank! That’s Mah Stank! I’m gonna make a fortune!!
CJ: “That’s Mah Stank”?
MH: On the front it’ll say “Can You Smell It?” and on the back it’ll say “That’s Mah Stank”. Everybody’ll buy it because they’ll think it’s a Rock shirt.
CJ: You know…you might be on to something there, sad to say.
MH: I can’t wait to show mah stank to Trish.

You know, I have a feeling that Spanky didn’t quit, he was fired. Why? So they could repackage Mark Henry as “Stanky.” Think about THAT!

The women's match on Heat was announced as non-title from the very beginning. I guess JR failed to talk about how Victoria had pinned the champ two nights in a row (I was on the phone during that match) but there's no issue about the title.

The Kane vs. Bubba Ray match should have had the stipulation that the loser got his speech impediment back. B^}

Did anyone make mention at any point of the fact that Spike Dudley is STILL IN THE RUMBLE? If Vince could win after spending most of the Rumble out of the arena, then surely Spike could win the Rumble. Remember, the ONLY way to be eliminated is to go over the top rope and have both your feet hit the floor. Of course, I'm not suggesting that Spike actually be declared the winner, just that something should be done with it. You know, a promo from HHH saying that he's a true fighting champion, he only faces the best of the best, so he doesn't want Benoit, he wants the "true" winner of the Rumble. Or something.

as sweet as a shot of victoria would've been, i'm glad they didn't use any of the women who actually, you know, wrestle. i think if they did it would in a sense deflate and devalue the women's division even more.

Not to mention that quick shot was him in Phenom mode. Combine that with the double bong (and NO damn annoying "You're Gonna Pay" drumbeats) has me in high hopes that he's coming back with his original gimmick. Paging Percy Pringle...

Here, here. After Jackie exposed herself the only thing I could think of is, "I wonder what the women who actually care about wrestling feel about Jackie pushing them back about ten years." I'm sure they were thrilled as they sat backstage, beaten and bruised, and watching Jackie do a lame Kat, Part II act.

Here I was hoping for a decent little match between Rico and Rob, especially as they had several good matches in OVW. Instead it's all about Jackie and something completely non-related to wrestling.

Best moments on the show - Foley's rant (with a confused and scared Orton standing by) and Benoit going after HHH & HBK.

Yesterday afternoon I told a friend that in my dreamworld, Benoit would go after HHH and the belt on RAW even though he is a Smackdown wrestler. So far so good. The rest of my dreamworld would be:

* Benoit to get the belt at WMXX
* Austin tells HHH that he has to go to Smackdown because Benoit is now on the RAW team.
* HHH refuses, and demands Evolution go after Austin.
* Evolution peg HHH as a whining loser and beat him up. They bring in Benoit as their newest member after kicking out HHH.
* HHH demands a match to settle the score. Goes after Orton in a PPV match and loses, thus having to move to Smackdown.
* At Smackdown HHH has to start from the ground up, and in the year to come slowly works his way up to becoming a face title belt holder.
* Orton continues to improve and becomes a heel title belt holder on RAW.
* Benoit becomes a pain in the ass to Austin because, "we used to be a lot alike, Austin; we were both in WCW, we both had our necks crushed; but I took the path of being a good wrestler, while you took the path of being the clown. I'm sick of seeing clowns."
* WM21 = Orton vs. HHH.

Seriously, what HHH, the man who has become the wrestling equivalent of the "fat, bloated Elvis," needs is a new environment and new challenges. Being on the other show and having to work on the ground up would be perfect for him to revitalize his career.

But, as I said, that's my dreamworld thinking for the shows.

Great Raw...any chance we can recall those Mick Foley DVDs so we can get last nights promo on them....I felt bad for Orton after missing the RKO, but that will be forgotten after his fued with Mick Foley progresses, I agree with what was said earlier, after this fued, Orton will be a star....Theodore Long was on tonight, and I wouldnt mind him using the coach as his personal color commentator for all of Jazz and Mark Henry's matches...Benoit was a surprise tonight, and I already cant wait for that matchup....after watching Jackie I thought the WWE stopped being involved with girls gone wild....the Undertaker video was very "Ringesque" is people have pointed out, now the question is when will he strike....overall I thought it was an excellent show

I'd love to tell you, but I try not to use too many expletives. Now being the old schooler, I can't say that last night's show was the "Best RAW in Years". For me, that has been and always will be 2/7/00. Click Here (slashwrestling.com) to read why. But, The Foley Promo really gave me goosebumps NOT QUITE BUT ALMOST the same way his promos with that OTHER Evolution member did a while back. Orton's facials were perfect, I must say. I wish the Big O much luck.

I really didn't pay much attention to the rest of the show too much due to my long day of trekkin' through snow. I'm glad I was a bit tentative about what happened with Foley, but since this is the WWE, where something promising almost always gets fumbled, you really can't blame me. I did see the women's match with Victoria and Molly on Heat as well as the tag team with Jazz and Lita last night. Good stuff there, despite Lita, which unfortunately got totally overshadowed by Jackie's puppies. They got a bigger pop than Victoria which is UNACCEPTABLE! Anyway, Foley's promo (as well as Victoria, Molly and Jazz) saved the show, end of story.

After a quarter of a century on this planet, there's three things I know for sure...
1)Ain't nothing like a Dirty Pair marathon on New Year's Eve.
2)I'd make a fine Mrs. HHH II.
3) I'd make an acceptable Mrs. Orton.

OK, time to rain on the parade - I thought Raw was pretty lackluster.

--Jericho promo was OK, but nothing special.

--handicap tag was pretty boring once Jericho was out. I can't stand watching RVD work in the majority of his matches, and this was no exception. Boy, Orton sure loves the European Uppercut, doesn't he? And whiffing on the RKO = good times. Gotta agree w/ Scott Keith (OMG~!) - getting the fans trained to watch longer matches is good, but doing it with RVD is bad.

--Trish/Jericho/Christian was a good segment. I have no idea what the Jericho/Trish angle is supposed to accomplish (other than a Jericho face turn), but I'm enjoying the ride.

--women's match was pretty sloppy, which is par for the course when Lita is involved, but not w/ the other 3.

--Benoit on Raw - guess they're not doing the "Heyman doesn't want to give Benoit a title shot, so he'll ship him to Raw", which would make sense, since Benoit's story logically lies w/ Brock, not HHH or the Raw title. Will Benoit show up on SD, or is he Raw-exclusive?

--Kane/Bubba - bad, bad match.

--Taker video - nice video, but I have absolutely no interest in the feud, since I can't stand either guy involved. Taker coming back as the "Deadman"? Couldn't care less. Fuck Taker.

--Conway/Rico - now this match I was enjoying. Sweet clothesline out of the corner on Rico. Too bad we had the "sportz entertainment" finish. Conway should *SO* be in Orton's spot.

--Coach/Mizark/Goldberg - whatever. Didn't really pay attention here.

--Foley promo - great promo, but I'm not sure I want to see FOley kill himself to get Orton over. HIAC? No thanks, Orton isn't ready for that, and, as I said, I don't want Foley killing himself for Randy Orton.

--No Booker? No Hardy? No Hurricane (probably injured from the Rumble)?

Overall, another "blah" Raw. I'll agree that storylines were advanced (Benoit/HHH, Goldy/Lesnar, Kane/Taker), but it doesn't do me any good when I don't care about any of said storylines.

Except for the boobalympic segment, I felt like I flipped onto the right segments (opening match, Benoit/Trips/HBK, Foley/Orton).

The Foley speech was great; and it makes me want to find on DVD if there's any old footage of him promoing during his ECW days. Give Scooter shit if you want for over-Benoit'ing, but his comments about Mick's "Big Lie" formula is dead on. I mentioned it in the Royal Rumble comments yesterday -- feed people enough shit and bullshit about it... and, well, people just might buy it.

And I'm curious to see how they drag the UT stuff out; I also thought that the post-production team did a dandy job of editing that together.

And nobody has given Christian props for his excellent delivery last night? Jericho and Trish have been good with their acting throughout most of the storyline, but Christian's delivery last night was top notch.

If Vince is serious about making Orton his next big star, the smartest thing for him to do is not let him say one word in this feud with Foley, because he will look like Foley's bitch in comparison on the mic. This is why Flair is on the roster. Dueling promos between Flair and Foley could be classic. That, and it would allow for the names Terry Funk and Harley Race to get mentioned, and they would actually be appropriate in context.

Foley's going to make Orton a star, just like he did for Triple H.

Trips was a joke champion until Foley made him look like gold 3 months straight.

That, my friends, is why Foley is the best, hands down, end of discussion.

I don't have the show on tape, but I did see it as it aired. Why was the first botched RKO Orton's fault?

Jericho didn't let go of Batista, and he didn't fall forward. When they did the spot again (and with the added bonus of off-the-rope momentum), Jericho had to adjust, let go and drop. What should Orton have done to the first time to make it work? Seemed more like Jericho screwed up by not falling (much like Jackie Gayda not falling when Trish bulldoged her in their infamous match).

Also noticed Victoria piledriving herself on the sunset flip.

I'm a bit worried about the dead silence from the audience as Benoit made his case. Hopefully that's the crowd hinging on his every word. The last time Benoit was in a three-way for the belt in a PPV, the champ (Austin) retained.

I sound like a sourpuss. I liked the show, all in all. Foley. Old School 'Taker. Rico wins. A great tag-team opener. Christian tempts the Wrath of Jericho uh-GAIN. I really enjoyed it.

Orton isn't exactly Master Thespian when it comes to facial expressions, either. Conway give you better mic skills and better wrestling.

Orton *barely* brushed Jericho's head on the 1st attempt, so it would have looked ridiculous for Jericho to sell it. Jericho probably didn't realize Orton was coming up the 1st time. Regardless, repeating it makes both guys look bad. Orton should have just kicked Jericho, and improvised another way to his the RKO.
