...not that tonight's Benjamin/Maven two minute special would have been worth any payment either. What? You watched "24?" I feel you.

What's the point of having "Royal Rumble Qualifying Matches" when we all know the winner isn't going to win the Rumble anyway?

Also, don't you think it's a bit weird when you have someone like Mark Masters showing off his incredible physique, then minutes later, you see Batista doing the exact same poses? It kind of defeats the purpose of hiring Masters, don't it?

Trish is now the champion of a division with 3 wrestlers including her and about a half dozen pieces of useless eye candy. Good for her. Maybe they can hire Gail Kim back while Lita is out again.

I am sick of pillow fights. 3 in a couple months is just overkill. Christy seems like a nice girl who will do anything, but there is no point in replacing a respectful women's division for her and others like her.

On another note, WTF is up with the booking of Kane? Everytime he comes back, he is Snitsky's bitch. What is the point of that? It makes Kane look so horrible. I just dont get it.

Also, its been 8 years, when are people gonna get over the whole You Screwed Bret crap? Let it go people.

Well, Kane will finally seal this classic feud with Snitsky next week, and Benoit/Jericho will be hot as hell in Toronto. I guess the Orton/Batista/HHH triple threat looks likely for 'Mania, beacause i don't think Batista can pull off a one-on-one epic. I don't know what they are gonna do with Maven and Rhyno concerning the Rumble because they are definetley both in the top 15 on Raw. The way things are going Batista would be a Raw favorite but the winner will probably come from Smackdown.

They will get over it the same time WWE does...which is never.

That may have been Orton's weakest effort in the ring. he can sell, I'll give him that, but his offense consisted of way too many punches, the 3.0, a dropkick and the RKO (missed). I already miss the suspended neckbreaker. He had plenty of chances to work in more wrestling moves and chose not to. Was this to make Batista seem more interesting, more capable?

I'm haven't seen anything from Simon Dean since his RAW match against Hurricane a while back. I had hoped for SOMETHING to add to his character by now.

Maybe I'm reading things into it, too, but she also seems like she's actually having fun doing the things she does. The sexism in WWE bothers me enough, but it really gets to me when Divas have a forced rictus grin on their faces and seem to be going through the motions while saying to themselves, "There ya go. Keep it up. Act like a whore. Just three more minutes." Christy seems like she's having a great time, like she can't believe this is her well-paying job. So I have no problem with her being out there because she seems like she wants to be. Also, it helps that she won the damn Diva Search contest. The employment of all the failed Divas is inexcusable.

RAW Thoughts:

I joined RAW with Orton coming out during Evolution's celebration....Again, the Trips/Batista tension was well done....One of my friends commented that Eric Bischoff looks like Burt Reynolds....I don't get having a non-match on a PPV, only to turn around and give away the acutal match for free....Hassan looked pretty good, for the short time he actually wrestled....

Edge/Rhyno was a no-brainer....The brawl with Michaels was good, and I liked Shawn giving it to the idiots chanting "You Screwed Bret!"....I actually didn't mind Edge on the mic this week....The Simon Dean crap is getting weaker by the week. Kane's facial reactions were great though. Why didn't Simon just leave the ring instead of cowering in fear?. Damn, I was hoping Sunday would've been the end to the Snitsky/Kane feud...I liked the tag match, and Benoit/Jericho could give the tag division a much-needed jump-start....

The Christy/Maria match was embarrassing on one hand, but on the other hand, strangely watchable (maybe it's because I'm a man, with, ya know, a pulse)....The ME was okay, but I would've liked it better if Trips got Batista disqualified by attacking Orton, and using the excuse that he was saving Batista from getting seriously injured.

More likely because the vast majority of the match consisted of Batista killing Orton, with Orton getting in only limited offense. But yeah, it was a disappointment -- Batista and Orton had a much better match a month or two ago.

(putting conspiracy theorist hat on) Note how the end of the ME makes the #1 contender look weak because he basically lucked into a cheap rollup win ... (removing conspiracy theorist hat)

The pillow fight was painful to watch because I'm a 35-year-old married man and I should be well beyond that sort of aimed-at-horny-teenagers pseudoporn (not pseudopodoporn, which you get in certain anime flicks) . But on the other hand, hot girls.

I kinda liked the RR qualifying matches, because it makes it feel a bit more special than Eric just picking fifteen guys. However, I hope it doesn't mean three weeks of Guy Who Obviously Isn't Gonna Win v. Guy Who Obviously Has It In the Bag, which is what we got tonight.

Other than that, fairly forgettable post-PPV treading water show.

I thought Orton's mic work in the opening segment was some of the strongest he's ever done. That said, Randy and Trips REALLY shouldn't be doing long mic segments, because they get boring fast. I really hope Orton wins the title at the Rumble and Trips and Batista go off to feud with eachother for WM because Orton can still be saved with the right booking or feud(BROOOOOOOOOCK), but him against HHH just isn't working.

Kane/Snitsky 2? Ewwwwwwww. Pleasepleasepleaseplease kill Snitsky already and send him back to OVW.

I though tonight's show was decent if unspectacular, but after reading Keith's blog, I know think the show awful and an insult to the audience.

I really thought the opening segment (Orton & Evolution) was really hot. But then the middle of the show was AngryArab, Simon Dean, and Pillow Fight. I channel-surfed and kinda caught the Main Event, but just wasn't into it (how could I be - Simpsons was on).

Tonight made me realize ONCE AGAIN why it will be a long time before I buy a PPV.

If WWE really wanted to rejuvenate the tag team division, they'd put the straps on Bneoit & Jericho. What the hell else are they going to do with them now? I'd really like to see a Beniot & Jericho vs. Christian & A Better Partner for the straps at WM21.

Anyone else catch the "YOU SCREWED CHYNA" chants during the main event?

Funniest part of the night. Then someone shouted, "I screwed Chyna", and for a brief moment, I thought it was HHH saying it. As far as entertainment, Raw was a lot better than the PPV, with the exception of lacking the EC.

But as of now, the Rumble is shaping up like so.

1. Royal Rumble match
2. Trips v. Orton for the Championship
3. Taker v. Heidenreich in a casket match.

Looks more and more like Christian and Tomko will be working towards being the tag champs...which makes me wonder, why not just put it on them after Eugene went down with the knee injury last night. King and JR were trying really hard to put them over as a tag team. Speaking of tag teams, WTF ever happened to La Resistance?? Did they just disappear off the schedule??

Last night just proved that when you need a compelling interview stating where someone's character is going, get HBK to do it. He perfectly laid out, in plain enough terms, where and how Edge's heel persona is right now and how it is wrong. It helps that HBK has had some of the same motivations in his long career.

Plus to cap it off, we get a verbal smackdown of the insufferable Bret Hart chants. HBK would be my number one performer on this night.

The rest of the night was bleh, with predictable match-making and poor angle advancement.

WADSWORTH: The games up, Scarlet. There are no more bullets left in that gun.
SCARLET: Oh, come on, you don't think I'm gonna fall for that old trick?
WADSWORTH: It's not a trick. There was one shot at Mr. Boddy in the study. Two for the chandelier, two at the lounge door, and one for the singing telegram.
SCARLET:That's not six.
WADSWORTH: One plus two plus two plus one.
SCARLET:Nuh, uh. There was only one shot that got the chandelier. That's one plus two plus ONE plus one.
WADSWORTH: Even if you are right, that would be one plus one plus two plus one, not one plus TWO plus one plus one.
SCARLET:(thinking) Okay, fine. One plus two plus one--(angered) Shut up!

And for a shining moment, I thought we might get a double turn in the main event, due to the "thumbs up, thumbs down" reference made by Orton in the opening promo segment.

I was looking for a no decision finish and Orton siding back up with Evolution.

I'm thinking all he did was fan the flames by acknowledging it. And then making three comments "proving" he wasn't ruffled by them (he doth protest too much), followed by his not-terribly-subtle struggle to get back into the Edge dialogue. Those fans showed you can stop the skit, and they showed Shawn can be derailed even momentarily.

You can blame the Quebec snowbirds for the Bret chants. At least I do. Damn snowbirds: they can't drive, they take 10 minutes to make up their minds at Starbucks and they take up all the good mall parking.

And apparantly judging by the chant from the second row towards HHH ("You screwed Chyna"), their taste in porn is questionable as well.

Thing I thought was the best from last night was after the NYR footage was shown, HHH not wanting to look in Batista's general direction as if to say "OK, maybe if I don't look over there, I won't see that I'm being glared at right now and that it's not really happening". Big Dave is still the champion of non-spoken gestures.

Oh, and call me crazy, but if they're that indecisive over who if anyone should beat HHH for the title at WrestleMania, there may not be a RAW title change at all at WM, and might try to squeeze an extra buyrate of Batista chasing the title. It's not set in stone that the title HAS to change hands.

Very interesting. When the overrun is only 2-3 minutes, it is much higher than the rest of the show. When the overrun is 12-15 minutes, its the lowest rated segment of the show.
