Tonight, Raven made his official NWA: TNA debut! And they're wasting no time in using him WELL! Tonight, Raven arrived at the very end of the show and stole the NWA belt from Jeff Jarrett before leaving through the crowd.
Wow! Am I the only one who's amazed at how quickly Raven made his TNA debut?
Does THIS look like the face of a man with Testicles?
Not really...I mean the guy has some name value with the ECW/WCW fans watching NWA....I am suprised he's getting pushed ALL THE WAY to the top though.
Homer: "Old people don't need companionship. They need to be isolated and studied so it can be determined what nutrients they have that might be extracted for our personal use."
Homer: Kids, kids. I'm not going to die. That only happens to bad people. Bart: What about Abraham Lincoln? Homer: Uh, he sold poison milk to school children.
Dammit...now I'm going to have to start watching this again. I read about Nikita Koloff having been there...I'll have to see him just for the nostalgia.
And now if they actually start making decent use of Raven?
Oh well...popping for this is less fattening than spending it at McDonald's anyhow.
This was actually a really nicely put together show. It reminded me in both good and bad ways of a Nitro show from during the height of the NWO angle. Everything was tied in somehow to the overarching storyline, some good wrestling was in there, and it built to a climax. The tag title match was a bit sloppy at times but had a lot of heat, and AMW amazes me each week with how good they are at getting the crowd into things. The 3-way X division match was a Sportz Entertainment thing, but I am digging way hard on Trinity, and think her and Kid Kash is a really nice pairing. Would love to see her hook up with the SAT's somehow as they are the most over X division folks outside of the top guys.
Torchslasher foiled me this time, but I shall get him next time!*maniacal laughter*

The SAT's are awesome in the same sense as the Dudley's were in ECW.
Their move precedes them. The Dudleys would never have been over if not for the 3D. Same idea with the SAT, only insert Spanish Fly or describe some other funky tandem offensive manuvers they whip out (too many to list). While not the main reason to order a PPV, they're one of the many reasons you order again. They often put on very good matches.
The only thing that kinda worries me is that the Duds jobbed to Tazz. Now, in correllation to NWA:TNA, that would mean the SAT jobbing to, oh, Jeff Jarrett.
In the name of good taste, I will no longer say anything about people who run wrestling websites and cats.
I'm just so God*****ed soured on wrestling this week. Truly, even though I've got a devil sitting on my shoulder trying to get me to lay out the money for RAW brand house show tickets when they go on sale this Saturday morning (and no, it's NOT "Scary Sean" O'Haire, either!).
Before I get too excited about this, three words come to mind. Namely, "Vince f****** Russo".
"And you won't hate me because I'm just a little, teeny, weeny, wee bit bloodthirsty, will you?" (Katisha/"The Mikado")
Still, I've never ordered the NWA ppvs, but I read the re-cap of last night's show this morning, and I have to admit... it didn't sound too bad. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we have some competition on our hands.
Doubtful, for many reasons. Most of their main event talent (Jarrett, Ron Killings, Jerry Lynn, BG James, Raven) have been employed AND viciously buried by WWE, meaning that to the larger wrestling audience they'll always be below the "big Boys" like Rock, Austin, HHH, Taker, Angle, Hogan et al. Also, as pointed out, Vince Russo is involved. And third, Jerry Jarrett seems to have an alarming penchant for "good ol' boys", as evidenced by his rounding up of the Road Warriors, Curt Hennig, Dusty Rhodes, Nikita Koloff and Larry Zbysko. Of course, me pointing these things out may detract from everybody wishing death on WWE, and we wouldn't want THAT.
"Here's the thing: I don't give a tupenny f*ck about your moral conundrum, you meatheaded shit-sack. That's pretty much the thing." Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill "The Butcher" Cutting, Gangs Of New York. You'd be surprised at how many statements this can be used as a response to.
I have to say I'm not surprise how quick Raven showed up in NWA. I remember Russo saying that he was dissapointed that Raven had just left WCW for ECW when he came on board. And Raven loves the business, after 2 years of doing basically nothing he was probably hungry for a chance to do something more than be a job guy. If they give him the title, I may have to start ordering NWA again.
They gotta bring these back!!!: "talk to the hand because the man don't understand." - "The Crippler" Chris Benoit "...and that is the LAST WORD." - "The Big Nasty" Paul Wight and of course: "Don't hate the playa...HATE THE GAME~!" - WCW World Champion Booker T
I actually may have to order a TNA PPV just to see the SUPER POWERS EXPLODE!!!!!
Although the match will suck, I'll still be marking out.
...even more so if at the end of the match as Nikita is setting up Dusty for the russian sickle, Magnum TA limps out and reconciles the dream and the nightmare once again.
There wouldn't be a dry eye in the house.
Well, my house.
Assuming my girlfriend wasn't home making fun of me for watching wrestling.
This conversation is shifting into an area that I don't like the board to go to. ASFrecorder is in a questionable grey area, because it circumvents a copy protection feature of ASF files -- basically, that they can't be downloaded.
