No, it's not a good idea to have a guy who's never worked a TV match before in the main event of a PPV, but stop pretending like he's never seen a wrestling ring before and that Tough Enough was the documentation of his entire training.

Not at all. I don't think he'd kill anyone or not be able to work a five-minute match, but from a storyline perspective and from a "let's protect this guy until he might be worth something" perspective it's just bad bad bad. And that's without the fact that Christian beating a kayfabe total newcomer does nothing for him or the belt.

Brock was a legit amateur wrestler who trained here in OVW for a year before being called up. Did anyone doubt his ability when he arrived in 2002 and just started killing people? Compare that to your expectations for Big Andy.

I'm not sure pointing out the one single relevant exception over and over really does all that much to refute Amos' argument.

Also, nobody knew Brock Lesnar before he appeared, and he looks like the villain out of some Hollywood action film, so it was a lot easier for WWE to send him out there to destroy everyone he saw for two months and then say, "take this guy seriously when he faces the Rock at Summerslam." Conversely, the proposal here to put Andy in place of Randy involves none of that buildup, and the guy has spent the past three months on a television program based around the fact that he's new and still learning. Hardly the same thing. And yes, a terrible idea.

Not that there's any chance in hell of it happening, mind you. But Andy Leavine is not Brock Lesnar in storyline terms right now, not even remotely close, even in the unlikely event that he ends up being as talented as Lesnar was.

    Ha! True.

Perhaps this means he doesn't hear voices in his head?

The original plan was for Andy to have his debut match on Raw this week. Instead, he appeared for about 30 seconds, was taunted by CM Punk, and walked off.

If you want to debate if WWE could/should use Andy as a title match replacement, feel free, but there's absolutely no chance it's actually happening.

Not to spoil SmackDown!, but I don't think WWE would've done the main event (and what the finish reads like) if they were very concerned about Orton missing the show.

Andy had a 5 minute match in FCW with his trainer that they could only show snippets of. He has a long way to go.

Orton has an immediately diagnosed & monitored concussion. If he misses this week he'll wrestle next week. Or the week after that. They aren't going to emergency vacate the title for that.

Funny how many forget how badly Brock Lesnar was received originally. He got plenty of too soon, too green, another Vince McMahon big guy fetish project and Goldberg ripoff remarks.

All joking about rattled brains and speculation about green Tough Enough winners aside, I hope that if Orton is hurt, the match won't make him more hurt.

On the other hand, if they're certain he's not likely to get really screwed up by competing, I wouldn't put it past them to have Christian target his head in the match...
