--Movie News--

Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg will be bringing a new WAR OF THE WORLDS to the big screen.in 2006.

Charlize Theron will be playing the lead in a live action AEON FLUX film. Shooting to begin in 2 months.

As if fucking up one blacksploitation icon wasn't enough, there is now a reimagining of SUPERFLY coming to theaters near you. Denzel Washington will be starring... but it's STILL gonna suck.

It's the end of the world as I know it, at least, and I'm NOT fine with it, as George Clooney agrees to star in a big screen version of Magnum P.I.! LL Cool J is signed on to play Copter pilot T.C. in this 'family comedy' in the style on Charlie's Angels.

Damn you Marvel Comics! The Punisher 2 has already been given the go ahead. Why, God, WHY are you doing this to me?

--TV News--

USA Network will be 'reimagining' Brian DePlama's SCARFACE. It will take place in the late 80's and center around the rise of 'Crack'. It will also center around a predominantly BLACK cast.

USA has also picked up the new Friday The 13th: The Series. This has absolutely NO relation to the show from the 80's and is being created by Sean S. Cunningham, creator of the film series. Production has NOT begun yet and no cast has been announced.

SCI-FI Network is keeping Edward James Olmos's career going by green lighting 13 episodes of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. All cast members from the mini-series are signed on and talk of bringing original cast members into the fold as new characters has already begun.

The WB's got a little show called LOST IN SPACE coming next season. Fans of the old show are being screwed royally thanks to this picture, which is the proposed new version of the robot.

--DVD/Video--

Hot on the heels of the Flintstones and Scooby-Doo boxed sets, Hanna Barbera is unleashing the Jetsons and Johnny Quest first season boxed sets in May.

Horror fans rejoice! Paramount see's fit to toss us a bone come August with the DVD premiere of FRIDAY The 13th: Special Edition. Uncut, with Sean S. Cunningham commentary and tons of extras. There is also a boxed set rumored to be coming out after all the special editions are released.

Samurai Jack: The First Season is coming out in May. 'Uncut' episodes with never before aired footage and commentary for all 13 episodes.

Originality is really dying out in Hollywood, isn't it? Pointless remakes of classics (War of the Worlds, Superfly, Scarface), movies based on shows that were popular years ago (Aeon Flux), and films that play on memories of well-loved television series and are likely to be utter crap (Magnum P.I. without Tom Selleck?). Add to that more episodes of the morose new Battlestar Galactica - bleah. I'm really hoping that the new Doctor Who will not be an American-style disappointment like the 1996 FOX Movie was.

Man, I saw you mention a new Friday the 13th series, and then you ruined it by telling me it had nothing to do with the old series. I loved that show. I also think it's weird that they green-lighted Punisher 2 based on pretty much nothing. The one trailer looks ok, it has the Russian at least, but there's no evidence of how well the film will do.

Scratch that, I just went over to IMDB to check out the casting, and it's fucking Nash playing the Russian. A dagger through my heart! And Rebecca Romain-Stamos of all people playing Joan the Mouse. Her name is Joan THE MOUSE and you cast a supermodel?! Fucking brilliant casting, assholes.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!! This has been done! it was called NEW JACK CITY....

In reality Ive always had a feeling someone would try this. Now that all these rappers are making movies I knew it was inevitable. Thats doesnt make me feel any better though. Why do I also get the feeling in my gut that this is the reason that Jay-Z retired?

And it THECOOLESTBLACKACTORALIVE Samuel L Jackson couldnt pull off John Shaft, what makes anyone think that Denzel can pull of Ron O'Neal??

Come on, George Clooney as Magnum P.I. isn't THAT bad compared to the bastardization of Dukes of Hazzard starring Ashton Kutcher, Paul Walker and either Jessica Simpson or Britney Spears.

Well atleast I can bring home some Samurai Jack soon.

You know it's weird.....we see all of these old TV shows being remade into movies and we kind of shrug, but can you imagine this happening in 20-30 years for current shows? Will there someday be a Seinfeld movie? A Friends movie? A Gilmore Girls movie?

The way Hollywood is going, that's probably not far from the truth. Only I think the remakes will come a lot sooner than 20-30 years from now. You've had a couple of shows already (X-Files, South Park) that came to the movies while the show was still on TV.
