Surprising number of Soul Coughing fans on here. Is anyone else familiar with Mike Doughty`s post-SC solo work? He`s on tour now, I shall see him this Friday.

Haven't been keeping up lately...usually after a great band splits, it just goes downhill, in my opinion.

BTW, everyone wants to see that groovy thing. :)

Q: If you could have interviewed Marvin Gaye, where would you have proposed to meet and what would you have asked him?

A: I would have met anywhere as long as it was before his father shot him. I would have asked him, "Hey, don't you think there's some chance that your father might shoot you? To death, I mean?"

doughty's keeping it up after soul coughing. i was disappointed with the last SC record, and very impressed with what i've heard from his self-made solo cd.

an ex sent me a couple mp3s from it. he hands out or sells (or at least used to) copies of a burnt cd.

doughty's still doughty. he's always been working with spoken word projects (he pops up on the "poemfone" cd along with the lead singer from king missle and the always-fucking-amazing poetess nicle s. blackman). what i've heard is just him singing over an accoustic guitar.

Yeah, he calls it "the small rock". Just him and a tiny acoustic guitar. The album is called Skittish, he actually recorded it while Soul Coughing were still together, but didn`t release it till he started touring solo. I highly recommend it.

Austin, TX, but I'm in the military stationed in California right now.

I'm not what you'd call an nil8 fan, though. I just like "Green Eggs and Ham" (which I heard on a compilation CD) and "Chain." The singer's voice gets on my nerves after a while.

I was in Ear-X-Tacy buying the new Cracker CD yesterday and stumbled across the Connell's "Ring" which has 74-75 on it in the bargain bin for $7 so I had to go ahead and buy it.

I haven't listened to Fountains of Wayne in forever. I loved that first album. Anyone know anything about their subsequent releases?

Going to Flickerstick in Cincy tomorrow night and just found out that They Might Be Giants will be there in April. Whoo hoo!!

You can get Doughty`s album at his website: http://www.superspecialquestions.com or http://www.mikedoughty.com .

Fountains of Wayne`s 2nd album, Utopia Parkway, is even better than their 1st. One of my all-time favorites, it`s a perfect spring/summer driving album. They`re currently working on their 3rd one.

Careless Memories is bar none, the best, most rockin' Duran Duran song ever!! Worth the price of their first album alone! Of course, it's got some other gems on there as well, but that song is just great. I still get a kick out of it, what, 15 years later?

I once lived with a kid who had a giant Candlebox window sticker across his stereo system rack door. He was a loser.

Since Fazzle posted, I guess the thread is cool now.

Thanks for all the randomness... I'll get started on hunting all of this stuff down asap. Just wanted to let a good selection of songs build on here and got back way more than I expected.

Nice to see that I don't have many of the songs, too. I think the most I have in common with anyone's list is 2 with Jaguar's.

What the hell, here's 10 of my own... note how mainstream and totally un-edgy I am.

Sarah McLachlan- Song For A Winter's Night
G. Love and Special Sauce- Blackbird
Accafellas- Beatles Medley
Sugarhill Gang- Rapper's Delight (get all 14 minutes)
Bran Van 3000 & Curtis Mayfield- Astounded
Chumbawamba- She's Got All The Friends
Tori Amos- Jackie's Strength
Daft Punk- Digital Love
Mojo Nixon- Girlfriend In A Coma
Leahy- Devil's Dream

I'll let you guess which three. ;-)

I still think that the WWF/E should've gotten Our Lady Peace to play at WrestleMania. OLP would've been far more over with the Canadian crowd than those two jobber metal bands.
