I've never been to Jack Murphy Stadium, is it something I need to see in my lifetime? It is possible I could find my way down there to see my Cubbies play, and I was wondering if it's worth the 10 hour or so drive?

Baseball's Sad Lexicon

These are the saddest of possible words:
"Tinker to Evers to Chance."
Trio of bear cubs, and fleeter than birds,
Tinker and Evers and Chance.
Ruthlessly pricking our gonfalon bubble,
Making a Giant hit into a double-
Words that are heavy with nothing but trouble:
"Tinker to Evers to Chance."

If you like big, concrete edifaces, then, yes, it's worth the trip.

It's also the last year of the stadium. If you "collect" trips to stadia, keep that in mind.

Braving the horror show that is Comicon. We're not set up, but we'll be around all weekend.

That was actually the main reason I was thinking about going. A road trip to SD from here ain't no joke.

Pshaw. I used to do Modesto -> San Diego all the time during college. It's not as bad as you would think.

You are looking at less than 400 miles one way - it's 430 to Modesto if I remember correctly.

I like the Q, but then again I live within walking distance of it.

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

I like the Q too... many memories for me in that place, good and bad. I've seen a ton of baseball and football in that place. But PETCO Park should be magnificent. I've got my season tickets lined up.

The four game sweep just seemed so...anti-climatic for me. With a great regular season and very good postseason, I was hoping the World Series would deliver on some sort of drama or competition. Ah well. Congrats to the Sox.
