Now say the Rockets draft Ming. Aside from everything else they have to give the Chinese team a player in return. Say they agree on Player X. Does he have to go there and play? What happens if he refuses?
All I've heard is: $$$ (to the Chinese govt and his team), a deal to do camps or such in Shanghai and knowing that Ming will leave the team whenever China has to play int'l competitions, like the Worlds or Olympics.
Then I can write a washing bill in Babylonic cuneiform, And tell you every detail of Caractacus's uniform; In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral, I am the very model of a modern Major-General.
From the desk of Swordsman Yen So if the Rockets feel that Yao Ming isn't worth the potential headaches, should they trade their pick for a proven big man? I don't think drafting somebody like Jay Williams would make any sense (unless they make him trade bait) since a guy by the name of Steve Francis has that position taken.

Philly is rumored to be offering Mutombo and the #16 for the #1, Rice, and Cato. The salaries do match up under the CBA so this trade is possible.
If anyone wants to check a possible trade here is the link I used:
