Well, that's what Brian May and Roger Taylor are calling it anyway. It's also reported that John Deacon has not accepted an invitation to tour with them. Paul Rodgers of Free will be providing lead vocals.
Trash, I say.

Not sure how I feel about them using the "Queen" name, especially if Deacon doesn't join them. I'd prefer them to use their own moniker, a la Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.

I think the Doors even did it last year, with the guy from the Cult as their lead singer (but I think in that case they billed themselves as "21st Century Doors").
The funny thing is that some people will still want to lineup for this.

Hey, if you told me that The Firm was playing around the NY/NJ area, I would be THERE!
A lot of people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch of unconnected incidents and things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice of coincidence that lays on top of everything. Give you an example, show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Make it a threeway, 'cause we can't forget The Dead Kennedys sans Jello Biafra.

I'd still like to hear those guys jam, I think. Not enough to pay for it, but I don't feel bad that they are able to play their songs and make people happy.

I actually saw some clips recently somewhere of Queen at LiveAid, and I am totally with you on that. I remember seeing the show live (on TV), and they just plain rocked. I dig Paul Rodgers and all, but with Queen, I dunno. Get someone with a higher voice at least, like (wishful thinking) Danny Elfman. A law should require them to call themselves "Hot Space - A Queen Tribute" or something...."Fat Bottomed Queen"...."Crazy Little Thing Called Queen"...hell, "Killer Queen" would even work.
