Pro Wrestling Illustrated has released a preview of the upcoming Female 50 for 2016 ( reporting period October 2015 - October 2016 ) based on the following criteria; Win/Loss record, Professional Prominence / Exposure, Promotional Push/Creative Direction, "Quality of Competition".
I've added in Independent Character ( as applicable ), country of residence/origin, prominent promotions worked for & other pertinent information.
As always "the list" is subjective and based firmly in kayfabe, but also a somewhat generally decent gauge of who's doing what in the business and who to look out for on the scene.

These lists are always, of course, highly subjective. But with that being said, I can't think of a single reason why Dana Brooke would be higher than Alexa Bliss.

I don't really know anything about the non-WWE women. That said, I think it's ranked pretty fairly. I might switch Nia Jax and Paige, just because Paige has been out and Nia has been booked as almost dominant her entire run minus a few losses to Bayley.

InVerse, I can only guess that due to being paired first with Emma then Charlotte, Dana Brooke has received more of a proverbial "push" as a wrestler while Alexa was mainly managing Blake & Murphy and in-ring action has only recently been her primary focus.

andy1278, I see your point about Nia and could agree based on win/loss record and push...but Paige gets placed higher based on previously held championships.

Some people have argued that Deonna Purazzo should have been ranked based on major appearances, but others pointed out that she was used primarily to put over contract workers and mostly posted losses.

There are some other independent wrestlers who could arguably also rank....but one of PWI's guidelines about the list is record in Canada and the US counts the most while international work is generally not taken into account.

Personally, I've seen 37 of the 50 wrestle at a live event at least once and many multiple times....so I may be biased towards people I know. But even based purely on actual wrestling talent, outside of a few of WWE's girls ....the women on the list are all really solid workers.

Thanks for pointing this out. I was wondering why there are no Japanese women on the list. Even Asuka didn't make the list pre-WWE I don't think.

If that's the case then I have a hard time not putting Deonna Purrazzo somewhere on the list.

I agree. Alexa has really impressed me. She is athletic, she's a great heel, and I really enjoy her matches. For my $0.02 she has the best promos of any woman on the WWE main roster (the big 3 are always breaking character because they're too friendly).

Eight ain't enough.
