Most interesting bit of the week is the 3.60 update including saving to the cloud for PS Plus users. Though if they're just now enabling it, it's going to have a slow roll out ala Trophies.

How does this "full game trial" idea work? I mean, I'd think you'd get to play the whole game, you just don't get to own it, but that sounds like there should be a catch in there somewhere.

In general, how's PlayStation Plus working out for you?

I'd also be interested in reviews of Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2 if anyone out there tries it. The Joystiq review was not a positive one, which is a shame, because I really liked the first game (as well as the NES game).

It's a 60 min time limit. You do pretty much a full DL of the game and at 60 mins of play time, you either have to buy it to remove the time restriction, or delete it because it's pretty much unusable at that point.

I'm pretty sure the 60 minutes is in real time. I downloaded a trial a few months back and played it for about 20 minutes. I closed the game and thought I'd have another run at it a little later on. When I came back, it told me that the 60 minute trial period had expired. Now, this was right at the beginning of PS+, so maybe they've worked the kinks out since then.

I think it's gameplay time, because I've quit a game and come back a couple days later. Maybe they fixed it.

So-so. I like the automatic downloads, I've taken advantage of some of the discounts and free games and the trials are nice. On the other hand, you still have to manually install the downloads (which is kind of silly), the free minis don't hold my attention long and even the free full sized games are iffy. I've liked Sam & Max - though I wouldn't have paid full price for it - but I think I've played the spaceship racing game once and moved on.

Sony's been good at supporting PS+ consistently, but it doesn't seem like there's a killer tent pole feature yet. If it was a game, I'd say rent but don't buy.

If I d/l something (like Qore) and I don't install it, it will install it for me the next day when it does the auto updates. I have never had to manually install anything I have d/led unless I was pressed to play/use it right away.

It will install stuff I've downloaded for me, but the software update handing is odd. I'm not sure if I've totally got it figured out, but I think it's downloading the update on Day 1, but won't install it by Day 2. Which often means I have to go install it myself, and then get an odd message about how it's just now applied the update the next time I use the system.
