I just bought a Linksys Wireless Game Adapter to go with my Linksys Wireless Router and PS2. I am having a hell of a time getting it to work. I have tried several different variations of setups on the PS2, including using automatic settings, manual setting, dynamic IP and static IP. It seems like the manual IP address that I entered was having the best luck. There have been times when on a game like SOCOM, I have gotten online into the lobby, but when I try to join a game, I always get disconnected. At other times, I have had connection failures when trying to connect to the internet, or DNAS failures. I have been all over the PS message boards looking for help, but haven't been able to find much. I even went into the router setup and did DMZ hosting on the PS2 IP address to make sure the ports were open. After I did that, I had the most success getting online, but no success getting in. I have been on hold with Linksys for over a half hour trying to get some help. The Wienerboard has been very helpful to me in the past, so I was wondering if anyone had some ideas? Thanks in advance.

Doesn't the Wireless Game Adapter plug right into the back of the network adapter and back of the PC (or something?) I thought the entire point of it was to avoid going the router route (pardon the pun.)

No, I don't think so. That's the point of wireless, you don't have to go from the computer or modem right to the PS2. The signal goes from the router to the WGA, and then to the PS2 via a very short cord.

Forgive me if this is too obvious, but have you run the setup disc that came with the PS2 online adapter? If you did it, but with a wired connection to your router or straight into a modem, you might want to run the setup disc again with the router (and game adapter if necessary) set on automatic DHCP mode (I forget exactly what this is called in the router setup).

I had a problem once with my PS2 not renewing it's IP address, so you could be having a similar problem. I don't use a wireless game adapter though, but if your router is using its DHCP server mode, as far as I know it should handle wired and wireless connections in the same way.
