New releases are pretty much done for 2015; Just Cause 3 (which is said to be buggy) and Tom Clancy whatever are the ones left coming out this week. Kotaku has a list of what games are coming out early next year, so you can see when they were scheduled before they get pushed back. No better way to start the December thread with stuff about January thru March.
I've been really good about not actually buying anything I don't need or really want for Black Friday, but I think I'm trading in some games at Gamestop and reservering Uncharted 4 today unless someone physically restrains him. Got to get in on the multiplayer Beta that I'll be horrible at and play four times.

I, like you, am intrigued by a Handball video game. Just not $60 (or $40) intrigued, but intrigued.
I forgot that it's the PS3->PS4 ports that has the Uncharted 4 beta and only put down for new game. No beta for me. ALAS.
The Playstation Experience keynote announced a whole bunch of things
The big news is PS2 games are coming to PS4, as leaked a month or so ago. Of course, they're not coming like 360 games are coming to X1, where you can just stick the disc in if you already own the games. It's a digital repurchasing. Games available sometime Sunday
Dark Cloud — $14.99 Grand Theft Auto III — $14.99 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City — $14.99 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — $14.99 Rogue Galaxy — $14.99 The Mark of Kri — $14.99 Twisted Metal: Black — $9.99 War of the Monsters — $9.99
PaRappa the Rapper 2 and The King of Fighters 2000 are listed as "games coming soon".
Sony did this with PS3, but the quality of games being released were not anything special after the first rush. Hopefully it goes better this time, but they're sort of in competition with themselves on PS Now.
(This is not specifically related to anything in these announcements, but it does generally like we've hit a point where X1 might be the better console if you're jumping in during the holiday season - especially if you've got a whole bunch of 360 games you can move to X1, and if you get into EA Access.)
Other stuff - Ratchet and Clank PS4 out on 04/12/2016, about 2.5 weeks before the movie. They carefully note the movie and the game have different plots, and this changed around a bit from being a remake of the original game (perhaps because this would've been the third time the original game was released) - Final Fantasy VII original flavor will be up on the PS Store today. That's the straight up PS1 port. They showed photos and videos of the remake but didn't even say it'd be out in 2016. (So, if you buy the PS1 now, you probably will have at least 12 months before you get tempted into buying a new version of it.) - Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, a sequal to a 2013 game, is coming at at some point. I have utterly no idea what this is, but there were people in my Twitter feed very excited about it's existance. - Pagaon, a MOBA, will be released in 2016. Do you pretend to know what "MOBA" means when it comes up in conversation? I do too. It turns out it stands for "Multiplayer Online Battle Arena". I also have no idea how you play League of Legends despite listening to a podcast episode basically explaining that, but I know it's a big deal and this is an attempt at doing one of those. - Battleborn character introductions. This reads like a MOBA with a single player mode attached. - limited time pod racing for Destiny - Guns Up, an Action Strategy game that's also free to play (and looks like a mobile game). This should be released sometime today and the link has a code for free gold. - the remake of Day of the Tentacle has a trailer and "a early next year" release date. They also announced Full Throttle will be remastered next. - a beta for Hitman in Feburary - Hob, a puzzle/exploration game that prides itself on not telling you what's going on when you start the game - baseball game will continue to be a baseball game (and continue to be on PS3; wonder how many more years there will be of that); seems like Road to the Show has been improved after many years - 100 Foot Robot Golf, which sounds like something trying to be the next Rocket League and may actually be the next rocket league. - multiplayer Don't Starve - Street Fighter V has exciting season pass and other revenue generating schemes (and also a new character) - King of Fighters footage. - Dead Star, space pilot fighting - Bit Trip is now on PS4. The post makes it sound like I should know what this is. I do not. That's OK. - random Adult Swim games coming in 2016 - Yakuza 5 hype; that game launches Tuesday, and Yakuza 0 is coming to the US at some point. - a new version of PS's Rez for VR - another VR game no one's going to buy, and another, and another, and another, and another, and another. I'm taking a hard "VR is 3D" stance, though at least they're setting up content.
No free stuff this year. Unrelated to all of this, there's also a sale on games nominated at the Game Awards, though much of this is also stuff you might have found discounted last weekend.
I picked up Final Fantasy VII. I started playing this years ago, trying to follow along with a FAQ to do everything perfectly, and eventually getting bogged down about two steps into the open world. I'm trying to be less obsessive about those sort of things, except I can't really make that case when this post is just completing the links from Saturday.
(or that I spent about an hour trying to replay a bit of Suikoden last night to find the characters I missed.)
Other cleanup stuff from the Playstation Experience
- Invisible, another game that kind of assumes everyone knows what it is already.
- the Final Fantasy VII remake will be episodic, released in parts. Square explains this unclearly, but I think the idea is the game can't fit on one disc. It's unclear why you can't just put multiple discs in a box like Square has in the past, except it's clear they're going to increase the numbers of times you can buy Final Fantasy VII.
- You can get a full year of Playstation Now for $100 for "a limited time". Now is the streaming back catalogue service. They don't otherwise sell one year subscriptions; four straight three months one would be $180, so it's pretty good bargain if you're willing to limit to what games they have up (now with Batman and Lego) and have really good internet.
I haven't played the PS3 version, but this one is apparently based on the iOS release. It's just updated graphics - lots of 3D looking figures distractingly on 2D art. The iOS release also added the option to speed up the framerate (3x) and instantly give yourself full health/break by button press at any time, which I might have accidentally done a few times before I figured out what's going on. There's no real reason to buy it again on PS4 now, but the remake eventually coming out sounds like it's going to change the story a bit.
Playstation has spun off it's messaing into it's own iOS and Andoid app, in a similiar fashion as Facebook. This is probably great news if you use messaging, because it's not done very well on the PS app (which also won't remember your password for some reason.)
There was no PSN Update yesterday, and I didn't see an explaination. I think it's happening today.

I've got slightly farther in Final Fantasy 7 than I did when I gave up many years idea! Not so far that I (or the characters) have a coherent idea of the larger plot or really any hope of stopping the guy they're chasing, but crosisng my fingers.
So looking at the Entertainment Weekly and IGN lists, I notice that Grand Theft Auto 3 made both lists, but Grand Theft Auto: Vice City made neither. Personally, I prefer Vice City over GTA3. By a lot.
