ETA: like to know the projected date as well as what the cutoff for including this field is.

Without checking the code to be 100% sure, I think it's PROBABLY the UNIX epoch rollover in 2038.
Another thing about this code you may not have known is when somebody actually PASSES 5000 (me?), the projected date in profiles will float ahead to match THAT total instead of 5000.
